Years ago, when I started looking for my first job, wise advisers advised, “Barbara, be enthusiastic! Enthusiasm will take you further than any amount of experience.” How right they were!
“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm,” wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson. It is the paste that helps you hang on there when the going gets tough. It is the inner voice that whispers “I can do it!” when others shout “No, you can't!” It took years and years for the early work of Barbara McClintock, a geneticist who won the 1983 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, to be generally accepted. Yet she didn't stop working on her experiments. Work was such a deep pleasure for her that she never thought of stopping.
We are all born with wide-eyed, enthusiastic wonder and it is this childlike wonder that gives enthusiastic people such a youthful air, whatever their age. At 90, cellist Pablo Casals would start his day by playing Bach. As the music flowed through his fingers, his stooped shoulders would straighten and joy would reappear in his eyes. As author and poet Samuel Ullman once wrote, “Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.”
Enthusiastic people also love what they do, regardless of money or the title or power. Patricia A. Mcllrath, founder of the Missouri Repertory Theatre in Kansas City, was once asked where she got her enthusiasm. She replied, “My father, long ago, told me that I would never make a dime until I stopped working for money.”
If we cannot do what we love as a full-time career, we can do what we love as a hobby. Elizabeth Layton was 68 before she began to draw. This activity ended periods of depression that troubled her for at least 30 years and the quality of her work led one critic to say, “I am tempted by a genius.”
We can't afford to waste tears on “might-have-been”. We need to turn the tears into sweat as we go after “what-can-be”. We need to live each moment whole-heartedly, with all our senses—finding pleasure in the sweet smell of a back-yard garden, the simple picture of a six-year-old, and the beauty of a rainbow.

A.Enthusiastic people will never get old.
B.Enthusiasm is more important than experience.

A.To show enthusiasm can keep people healthy.
B.To show music can arouse people's enthusiasm.
C.To show enthusiasm can give people inspiration.
D.To show enthusiasm can make people feel young.
3.How many examples are given in the passage to show the importance of enthusiasm
A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five.
4.Which proverb might the writer agree with according to the last paragraph

D.All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Kindness is a universal language that can bring people together regardless of age, race and religion. It is a precious virtue that can carry people through hard times, and it's also one of the greatest gifts we can give to others and ourselves. 1
Kindness makes us feel good. It helps produce feel-good hormones(激素). Hormones like serotonin, which is responsible for your satisfaction and happiness, increase when you perform kind acts. Have you ever had an experience of this 2 So whenever you want to feel better, do not hesitate to volunteer and help someone in need.

It has been proven that when you act kindly towards someone, the feelings of anger, despair, envy and many other such feelings tend to disappear with your kind acts. The act of treating others with kindness also eases stress-related problems, like pain and tension. 3
Kindness creates a more positive environment. 4 For example, when people receive kindness, they are more likely to help someone else. By paying kindness forward, we'll build a community where we feel safer and more connected. Kindness is like a fountain that spreads positive energy, and our contribution can extend its influence.
5 Studies have found that individuals who volunteer or regularly engage in kind acts have lower risks of developing heart disease. Have you heard about “having a warm heart” Well, if you show an act of kindness to someone, we are sure you are a warm-hearted person.

My heart sank when I received the news—no salary again. How would I manage the increasing bills, the groceries and my children's needs The future seemed hopeless. With a heavy heart, I hurried to pick up my two children, my mind racing wildly.
That's when I saw it—a wallet, lying on the sidewalk. It was as if fate had thrown me a lifeline(救生索). Hope came to me as I approached it. The wallet was large, and when I opened it, my eyes widened in disbelief at the sight of a great deal of cash inside it. I hesitated for a moment, torn between the immediate relief that this money promised and the morality(道德) of keeping it.
Curiosity led me to search through the wallet. The things it contained were a photo and a couple of business cards. No matter how much I wanted to take the contents, my moral principles and inner voice told me not to do this. The decision became clear: I couldn't keep this money. It wasn't rightfully mine.
I picked out a business card. The name and number were there. With a deep breath, I dialed the number and explained my find to the voice on the other end. The voice came, completely emotionless, warning that they would come to me. He hung up without even saying “thank you”. I was angry at the impoliteness. I even regretted my decision, but my conscience(良知) did not allow me to go back on my choice. I had told the voice where I lived and went to get my children.
Shortly after we arrived home, a large black car suddenly pulled up to our house. The driver got out and knocked on the door. When I opened it, the driver told me that the owner of the wallet wanted me to personally hand over his wallet.
I didn't want to do so, but I agreed to go with the driver at last.
He wanted to reward me for my honesty and kind act.

Para. 2 Barbara McClintock:
Para. 3 Pablo Casals:

【高频词汇】 1.be responsible for负责 2.envy n.& v.

5.A 主旨句。 故选A。

One possible version:
I didn't want to do so, but I agreed to go with the driver at last. After a while, the car stopped at a house, and I met the owner. He was a man with a not-gentle face. But soon, his face was lightened by a bright smile, and he revealed to me that all the money in the world could not replace the photo of his beloved daughter that he always carried in his wallet. His beloved daughter lived on the other side of the planet and they saw each other very rarely. After his story, he surprised me with an unexpected proposal.
He wanted to reward me for my honesty and kind act. I was awkward with his offer of a financial reward, but I could not refuse it. So I accepted and was even more pleased when I heard he would offer me a job to work for him under much better conditions with a higher salary than my current job. My heart was beating with a mixture of emotions—relief and gratitude. My answer came quickly. This day will forever remain in my memories as my moral values and correct decisions helped change my life for the better.
