1. In China, it’s impolite to use your chopsticks to hit an empty bowl.
empty adj. 空的;空洞的
empty作形容词,具体用法如下:
(1)意为“空的”(本句用法),其反义词为full(满的)。此时可作表语或定语。
Bob wanted to get something to eat from the fridge, but found it empty.
He feels lonely in the empty house.
(2)意为“空洞的”,通常只用在名词前作定语。
His empty speech was boring.
【拓展延伸】
(1)empty作形容词,还可意为“空虚的”,常用来形容人的感情。
After she died, I stayed alone in her room, with an empty heart.
(2)empty还可作动词,意为“倒空;清空”。其反义词为fill(装满)。

2、In China, you’re not supposed to stick your chopsticks into the food.在中国,你不应该把筷子插入食物中。
(1)stick…into/in…意为“把……插入……”。

(2)chopstick为名词,意为“筷子”,常用复数形式。

英语中常见的以复数形式出现的名词有:noodles(面条),dumplings(饺子),trousers(裤子),pants(长裤),shorts(短裤),gloves(手套),shoes(鞋子),socks(袜子),glasses(眼镜)等。

point to 多用来指离说话人较远的事物,着重于所指的方向。在
事物名词作主语时,多用 point to 。
point out 意为“指出”,表示给某人指出方向、要点或错误等,属于“动副”结构的短语,虽可跟宾语,但若宾语是代词,须放在 point 和 out 之间。
point at 指着e.g. Don’t point at me with your finger. 不要用你的手指指着我。

point 用作名词,意为“要点;点;小数点”。
