Using an app (应用程序) to learn a language is handy because you can follow lessons and check your progress anywhere.Below is a list of my favorite ways to learn languages from my phone.
Google Translate
Most of apps teach you a language through exercises and progressive steps, while Google’s simply tells you how to write and speak anything you run through it.Still,I think it’s a great choice for beginners.I like to learn languages with Google Translate for two main reasons: its long list of supported languages, and the several language learning methods.
Rosetta Stone
Rosetta Stone is designed specifically for helping travelers learn basic words and phrases (短语).There’s also a phrasebook with basic words and words related to restaurants, hotels, and getting around—all very useful for someone traveling. If you want, you can buy extra phrasebooks covering topics like shopping, colors, emergencies, and so on.
Busuu
Busuu’s app is user-friendly.You get to pick where you’d like to begin in the course. The words and phrases you’ll learn are especially helpful for beginners who might find themselves around people speaking a foreign language and need to learn words in real situations quickly. However,Busuu doesn’t support as many languages as some other apps.
Memrise
Memrise isn’t as easy to use for quick translations as Google Translate, but it is easy to work with, supports offline courses, and lets you learn a number of languages. You can start off simple or move to more advanced lessons directly.I find Memrise to be unique in how it teaches new words and phrases. They put words into sentences alongside words that sound similar in your language, which makes it easier to remember.
21.Which apps are suitable for beginners according to the writer
A.Busuu and Memrise. B.Google Translate and Busuu.
C.Rosetta Stone and Memrise. D.Google Translate and and Rosetta Stone.
22.What is special about Memrise
A.It is designed for travelers.
B.It has an advantage of quick translation.
C.It supports a large number of languages.
D.It has an unusual method of teaching vocabulary.
23.In which part of a magazine may this text appear
A.Travelling. B.History. C.Technology. D.Business.

At the age of 52,Elaine Plant never expected to become a competitive cyclist.Cycling was not a part of her busy life, which was focused on raising three children and running a family business. But in 2014,everything changed when her husband decided to join a charity (慈善) bike ride.Elaine decided to join him and took out an old, rusty mountain bike from the shed. That first ride was 15 miles, and it was very hard.Elaine pushed her bike up many hills, but she started to feel curious about cycling.

A new United Nations (UN) report says one-fifth of the world’s migratory (迁徙的) animals are at risk of disappearing.Animals that migrate move from one area to another at different times of the year.
The threats the animals face include habitat loss, illegal hunting, pollution and natural disasters. Many kinds of migratory animals, including songbirds, sea turtles, whales, sharks and others, move to different environments as the seasons change.
The UN report says about 44 percent of migratory species around the world are decreasing in population. In addition, about one in five of 1,200 species watched by the UN are at risk of becoming endangered,or completely disappearing.
These are species that move around the globe. They move to feed and breed and also need sites to stop along the way.Any habitat loss or other threats during their trips can make the animal populations fall.“Migration is important to some species. If you cut the migration, you are going to kill the species,” said an expert.
The researchers examined existing data, including information from the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species. The list identifies wildlife across the world facing threats at present.
The report was presented at a meeting of the UN’s Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals in Samarkand,Uzbekistan.Attendees of the gathering are examining suggestions for conservation measures. They are also working to identify new species of concern.Susan Lieberman is vice president of the international policy at the Wildlife Conservation Society,a non-governmental organization. She said,“One country alone cannot save any of these species.”
The report found habitat loss affected up to 75 percent of the species studied. The report said this shows a big need for more connectivity between separated ecosystems. It pushes governments to take steps to avoid harming habitats and migration paths when building dams, pipelines or wind power equipment.
28.What does the UN report mainly show
A.Most animals are disappearing.
B.Migratory species are increasing.
C.Migratory animals face some threats.
D.Most species face some natural disasters.
29.What does migration mean to some species according to the expert in paragraph 4
A.Losing their competitors. B.A matter of life and death.
C.A lack of food and movement. D.Destroying their habitats.
30.What can we infer from Susan Lieberman’s words in paragraph 6
A.It is difficult to identify migratory animals.
B.It is impossible to protect migratory animals.
C.Rescuing migratory species depends on policies.
D.Rescuing migratory species requires global efforts.
31.Which of the following can be the best title for the text

New evidence suggests that studying Chinese and learning to write Chinese characters may train cognitive (认知的) abilities, which are not developed by learning other languages and writing systems.
A study conducted by researchers from the UK’s Wellcome Trust found that people who speak Chinese use both temporal lobes (颞叶) of their brain to understand the language. This is very different from English-language speakers who use only the left temporal lobe.Speakers of Chinese use intonation (语调) to tell between completely different meanings of particular words, which needs stronger cognitive abilities.
Besides, the practice of handwriting, especially of Chinese characters, will aid the development of motor skills, learning shapes and letters and will keep the mind sharp.Through the use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, researchers found that neural (神经的) activity in children who practiced printing letters by hand was more strengthened than those who just looked at pared with English, mostly written in line and from left to right,Chinese characters have more complex in structure (复杂的结构).Their writing involves strokes (笔画) in all four directions: up,down, left, and right. The movement of the fingers and hand helps improve neural activity in the working, thinking, and memory of the brain of the learners.
Evidence also suggests that there is a connection between the learning of Chinese and math skills.Researchers from New Zealand noticed that Asian children educated in their own languages appear to have gained a greater understanding of math ideas than English-speaking children.During the natural learning process of Chinese, the student is learning basic math ideas.Math skills are included in character writing because it includes skills such as counting, grouping, ordering, and identifying similarities and differences.
While the research on the relationship between the learning of Chinese and cognition is not yet fully clear, there is good evidence to suggest that learning Chinese tones and characters represents an added challenge to language learning.
32.What is the text centred on
A.Why Asian children are better at the math test.
B.Why Chinese is a difficult language to learn.
C.How learning Chinese benefits our cognition.
D.How Chinese writing differs from English writing.
33.What does the study by UK’s Wellcome Trust show
A.English speakers should learn Chinese.
B.Chinese has more intonations than English.
C.Using Chinese needs a higher-level brain activity.
D.Mastering different meanings of Chinese is difficult.
34.Why is learning Chinese beneficial to solving math problems
A.They need quite different cognitive abilities.
B.Chinese writing looks like math symbols.
C.Chinese children naturally do well in math.
D.They share several key cognitive abilities.
35.How is the text mainly developed
A.By offering supporting findings.
B.By comparing former research.
C.By discussing problems and solutions.
D.By listing advantages and disadvantages.

It was a Saturday afternoon.I was playing with my puppy Tojo happily when Dad told me to get ready.I don’t like Saturdays!Even though it’s a holiday for most children,it is not for me because I need to go to the football club.
Many kids love sports, but not me.I prefer staying at home to running breathlessly on the field.Obviously,I am not a good player. The coach never judges or pushes me but I know my teammates think I’m useless.Usually, after practice,my teammates would ask me to stay out of the game and I would just nod.
Last Thursday, the coach told us that we would be competing with another club in a championship a month later and many people would come to see the game. Our opponents (对手) were the last winner and I felt nervous at the thought of the embarrassment.I couldn’t help thinking if our team lost, that would be all because of me.Having realized that I couldn’t take all the blame and criticism,I decided to make some changes in my attitude towards the sports and my weekly training practice.
Then the big day came.Knowing my teammates were unwilling to count me in the game,I walked directly towards the bench and watched the game.Soon,it was the second half and neither team kicked the ball into the other’s net so the score was kept 0:0.When there were only ten minutes left,in an attempt to win back control of the football, our main striker got red card and one of our defenders was knocked down.“Simon, warm up and fight for your team,” the coach looked at me and said firmly,“I know you can and it’s time for you to know that now.” With shaking legs,I stepped onto the field, hoping to stay away from the ball and waiting for the last whistle to blow.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
At that moment, the ball came towards me.
Scoring the winning goal,I heard big cheers.

Today we will talk about an expression from the famous book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The book was published in 1865.The story is about a young girl falling,falling,falling...for a long time down a rabbit hole. When she finally lands, she finds herself in a strange world.
In this strange world are some of the most well-known characters in children’s literature. Many of them, and other expressions from the book, have found their way into American English.
The first character Alice meets is the White Rabbit. The White Rabbit is not your usual rabbit.First of all,he is wearing a vest and carrying a pocket watch.Running past Alice,he says,“I’m late!I’m late! For a very important date!No time to say hello or goodbye.I’m late,I’m late!I’m late!”
Alice chases after him,and that is where her adventures begin. In English, chasing a white rabbit means to chase the impossible,a dream. The White Rabbit is so strange that Alice cannot help but to follow him.As she chases after him,she falls down the rabbit hole into Wonderland and begins her mysterious journey.

第一节
Hello,everyone,
I’m thrilled to share my effective English learning methods with you.
My approach is a combination of practice and devotion.I start my day with listening to English.I spend 30 minutes each day reading English news, which has significantly improved my vocabulary and comprehension. Moreover,I practice speaking English with a language exchange partner twice a week. This has helped me become more fluent and confident in expressing myself.
As a result of these methods,I’ve seen an obvious improvement in my English proficiency.I scored higher in my recent English tests and feel more comfortable participating in class discussions.Hopefully,my methods can inspire you in your language journey!
That’s all,thank you!

Scoring the winning goal,I heard big cheers. The sound was deafening,a cacophony of joy and excitement. My teammates rushed towards me in a frenzy, their faces beaming with pride and elation. They hugged me tightly, slapping my back and congratulating me with words of praise and encouragement.I couldn’t believe it.Tears of joy welled up in my eyes and trickled down my cheeks.I had never felt such pride and acceptance before. At that moment,I realized that with unwavering effort and unshakable belief, anything was possible.
