What do you know about Confucius
Confucius (551 – 479 BCE), a renowned Chinese philosopher, educator, and the founder of Confucianism, is one of the most influential figures in Chinese history. Born in the Spring and Autumn Period, he dedicated his life to teaching and spreading his ideas on ethics, social order, and personal virtue.
His core teachings (recorded in The Analects, a collection of his sayings) centered on concepts like “ren” (benevolence), “li” (ritual propriety), and “xiao” (filial piety).
Confucius’ ideas later became the foundation of traditional Chinese culture and had a profound impact across East Asia. Even today, his thoughts on ethics, education, and social harmony remain relevant globally.

The teachings of Confucius, one of the most respected teachers of ancient China, are still known and studied around the world today. Confucius identified the concept ren as the most
important principle in life, a principle which is still relevant in modern society.

Confucian thought has a great influence on Chinese education, because it teaches people to show great respect for teachers and the thinkers of the past. In Chinese society, Confucian thought has kept the family and respect for parents as a focal point.

I have been trying to practise the principle of ren, but I’m not sure that my life would change that much.
3. How would the Confucian idea of fairness change society ar ound you if everybody started practising fairness in everything
It would result in a more egalitarian society, where people treated everyone with kindness and respect regardless of status.
