1
Staying up too late and not sleeping enough can lead one to drink too much coffee the next day.
You are going to listen to a conversation. The main speaker is a
doctor who just gave a talk to a class and now he is going to answer some questions from the students.
Listen to the conversation and complete the table below.

1.Why is a good night's sleep important for the first student
A good night's sleep is important because it will help with their schoolwork.
2.Why does the second student never exercise
Because he always picks up his phone instead of exercising.
3. What is the expert's bad habit Do you think it is a health problem
The expert drinks too much coffee. It can be a health problem because too much is bad for the heart and can cause headaches and other problems.
Listen again and answer these questions.
3
While-listening
4. What would you advise the expert to do to control this habit
I would suggest that the expert change the habit slowly by drinking smaller cups of weaker coffee, and then try to change coffee for another drink. Later he should do more exercise as this can stimulate the body like coffee does but has more positive benefits.
Decide whether these statements from the conversation are facts (F) or opinions (O). Discuss the opinions with a partner and see if you agree on them.
4
It is important to know whether what the speakers say is a fact or an opinion. An opinion is a subjective statement and a fact is objective. A fact is what really is true, while an opinion is what you believe, often using phrases like “I think/believe”, “in my opinion”, “to me”, and so on.
Distinguish facts from opinions

4. 逻辑连贯:通过衔接词(如 firstly, besides, however, as a result)连接句子和段落,使行文逻辑清晰,层次分明。

1. 首段:描述不健康的生活习惯(即提出问题);
2. 主体段:改掉不健康的生活习惯的措施(即采取行动);
While-writing
While-writing
When it comes to healthy lifestyles, many high school students fail to form good habits, which has a negative impact on their study and health.
I used to have some unhealthy habits, such as staying up late to play games and skipping breakfast, which made me feel tired and distracted in class.
There is no doubt that bad living habits do great harm to both our physical and mental health.
危害:be harmful to.../do harm to.../affect one's energy and concentration /lead to sleep
While-writing
problems /cause physical discomfort
Set a fixed bedtime and avoid using electronic devices an hour before sleep.
Develop regular eating habits and keep a balanced diet with more vegetables and fruits.
Take at least 30 minutes of exercise every day, such as running, swimming or playing ball games.
Limit screen time and take breaks to relax the eyes regularly.
While-writing
Changing bad habits is not easy, but with determination and persistence, we can make it.
Only by developing healthy living habits can we keep energetic and achieve better results in study.
Let's take action to get rid of unhealthy habits and embrace a healthy and happy life.

While-writing

The bad habit of staying up late, which is common among teenagers, can damage our eyesight and affect our memory.
If we can stick to a regular schedule, we will gradually get rid of the habit of procrastinating bedtime.
It is necessary for us to realize the importance of healthy habits and take immediate action.
While-writing
Dear Editor,
I was walking past a shop window the other day when I saw my reflection. At first, I didn't realise it was me. When I saw it was me, I felt sad as I was overweight. I didn't realise how I looked, and now really want to change. I really like eating, but I realise I eat too much, and I don't eat good things.
I want to change because I want to be able to look at myself and feel happy with how I look. I also want to be healthy.
My plan is to change my diet and exercise regularly. I will stop eating sugar, and only eat at mealtimes rather than eating snacks during the day. I will focus on healthy foods. Then I will exercise every day. I will walk to school and back, and on the weekend, I will go swimming.
I have only been doing my plan for a week but I'm already starting to feel better. I haven't lost a lot of weight yet, but I feel positive. I feel confident that I will reach my goal!
Yours sincerely
A. Smith
