1
In groups, discuss the following questions.
Sample: Garbage classification
Garbage classification refers to the entire process of sorting, collecting, transporting and treating the generated domestic garbage in accordance with certain standards.
The core lies in classifying garbage into different categories based on its composition, utilization value, treatment methods and other attributes. The aim is to enhance the resource utilization rate and harmless treatment level of garbage, reduce environmental pollution, and promote the recycling and sustainable development of resources.
Common classification standards can be divided into four major categories: recyclables, kitchen waste, hazardous waste and other waste. Different regions will make detailed adjustments based on their actual conditions.
Now create your project presentation. Use diagrams and illustrations to show how your ideas will work. Use the example below for ideas.
2
A lot of energy is wasted every day. We can make many small changes in our daily lives to help improve energy conservation. Here are our ideas for saving energy in the home:
Take shorter showers
Turn off the light when you are not in the room
Instead of turning up the heat, put on more clothes
Don't leave things like TVs and computers on standby
Unplug appliances that are not in use
Adjust the amount of water for toilet flushes
Use cold water to wash clothes when possible
Use energy-efficient light bulbs
Put lids on cooking pots to cook faster
Following this advice can help reduce energy consumption and save money.

While you watch
1 Check your answers in Before You Watch.
2 Answer these questions.
1. Where is Uruguay
2. Why is the school "autonomous"
Uruguay is in South America.
The school is "autonomous" because it isn't connected to any energy or water infrastructure.
Cultural Note
Uruguay is a country in South America, bordered by Argentina and Brazil. The capital is Montevideo and the population is around 3.5 million. The national language is Spanish, and Portuguese is spoken too. Nearly 95% of the country's energy comes from renewable energy sources mostly hydroelectricity and wind power. The change to renewable energy has dramatically lowered the country's carbon footprint.
