Do you know that there are twelve Chinese zodiac sign, each one represented by an animal Each one of the twelve animals has their own characteristics and attributes, and each year is represented by a 16 animal. For example, 1990 was the year of the Horse, 17 2010 was the year of the Tiger. In Chinese culture, some people believe that a person’s success, personality and marriage are based on the animal of the year in which they were born.
However, the origin of the zodiac signs is based on a legend. Long ago, the Jade Emperor wanted to 18 twelve animals to be his guards. So, all animals on Earth were ordered to take part in a 19 race. The first twelve animals to swim across the fast river would be the winners of the race, and therefore would have a year of the zodiac specially given to 20 .
The Rat came first because he jumped on the back of the Ox to cross the river, and then suddenly jumped down from the Ox and ran to the Emperor’s feet to win first place. As Tiger and Rabbit are both fast and competitive, they both raced to the finish line, with Tiger being faster. Dragons are naturally eye-catching, so the Emperor immediately noticed it, who said his son could be sixth. Immediately after, Snake said Dragon was his adopted father, so he came 21 . Then, as Horse and Goat were both 22 and kind to one another, they let each other go first, so they came seventh and eighth. The ninth animal to finish the race was Monkey, as he jumped between trees and stones to catch up with the other animals after falling behind. Finally, the last three animals to finish the race were the Rooster, Dog and Pig.
Some people wonder 23 the cat isn’t one of the twelve Chinese zodiac animals, and many people believe that the Cat joined the Rat in jumping on the Ox’s back to cross the river, but the Rat pushed it into the water, so it was washed away and didn’t 24 the Emperor in time to get a ranking. No wonder cats and rats are always 25 in our daily lives.

Why do some people go through hard times better Because they have resilience—the ability to get back up and stay strong. Good news! Resilience can be learned, not just born with. Here are five tips to build resilience.
Stay connected
Don’t face problems alone. Talk to people you trust—friends, parents or teachers. Adults may not understand everything, but they’ve also faced challenges and can offer helpful advice. Also, consider joining school clubs or sports teams—being part of a community builds support and confidence.
Take control
When facing difficulties or uncertainty, take small steps to regain a sense of control. Just do small things like making the bed. Pay attention to what you can change, not what you can’t.
Express yourself
Sometimes, it’s just too hard to talk to someone about how you feel. If talking isn’t working, try other ways to let out your emotions (情感) like keeping a diary or creating art.
Take care of yourself
Be sure to look after yourself. Getting enough sleep is very important. If you don’t, you may get angry and nervous easily when you have to stay sharp (机敏的). A well-rested body and mind deal better with challenges.
Look at the big picture
Your problem seems huge now, but bad times won’t last. You’ve driven away fears before—you can do it again! Simple skills can help: picturing calm places, listening to favourite music, or just breathing slowly. Life changes, but important things stay.
Developing resilience is a personal journey. Each challenge makes you more resilient, though you don’t see it yet. Just like building muscles (肌肉), resilience grows stronger with practice. Remember to ask for help when you need it. This is also a sign of strength.

Bedtime comes every night, but what if you're not feeling sleepy Should you still head to bed even if you know you’ll just lie there with your eyes open This problem has been around for as long as people have been trying to get a good night’s sleep.
In order to find the best solution for you, it’s necessary to find out what’s keeping you awake at night. You might be excited about something that happened during the day. Perhaps you’re nervous about what’s coming up the next day. Maybe you don’t like sleeping alone in your room. All of these could be reasons for your sleeping problems. However, there are several steps you can take to help you solve them.
One thing that can help is talking to a parent or another trusted adult about what you're worrying about at bedtime. For example, if you’re nervous about taking a test, or upset about having too much stress, it can really help to tell somebody. Knowing that someone has listened to you can ease (宽慰) your mind, helping you to get a good rest.
Sleeping in a comfortable bed in a quiet and cool room is another good choice. If there’s anything in your room that makes you feel uneasy or anxious (焦虑) at night, such as a picture that looks strange in the dark, or a noisy tap in the bathroom, be sure to ask your parents to move or fix it. Also, make sure to keep electronics like mobile phones or iPads away from your bed. They can keep you excited, and make it harder for you to fall asleep.
If you are usually restless around bedtime, doing certain things to relax beforehand (预先) may help you fall asleep. Try to take more time to wind down by taking a warm bath, or listening to music for at least 10 minutes before you go to sleep. It’s also helpful to follow a bedtime routine (惯例) and go to sleep at the same time every night. This way, your body will receive the message that it’s almost time to sleep. Your body will learn to start feeling tired, and it’s worth the time and effort to develop a good sleeping habit.
36.Which of the following could be a reason for feeling sleepless
A.Feeling easy at bedtime. B.Being nervous about something.
C.Sleeping in a cool and quiet room. D.Enjoying a peaceful environment.
37.What does the writer suggest doing if you’re worried about something at bedtime
A.Staying up late to think about it more. B.Trying to solve the problem yourself.
C.Talking to a parent or another trusted adult. D.Forgetting about the worry and going to sleep.

The national band, drama, folk art, song and dance, boat racing, lion dance, festival gathering and labor competition were all together with the beats of drums. A conflict with my mother
In daily life, conflicts often occur. I sometimes have conflicts with my mother.
When I got home, she always said a lot. She would ask me about my performance in class, how I got along with my classmates and so on. I felt really bored sometimes. I was very tired after a day’s class. When I got home, I just wanted to rest and didn’t want to talk. So whenever my mother asked me something, we always had some conflicts.
Later, I told my good friend what I thought, and she suggested that I talk to my mother about what I really thought. I did as she suggested. I had a heart-to-heart talk with my mother. I explained my thoughts in detail to my mother. Instead of talking about it endlessly, my mother gave me more space and made me more independent.
In the end, my relationship with my mother became very harmonious. We all became happier and more relaxed.
