(2025·河南中考)Putting things off is something a lot of students are troubled with. Between schoolwork, after-school activities and everyday worries, there are too many things you have to deal with every day. 1. You might start falling behind and your grades might get lower.
One smart way to fight back is to break big tasks into tiny pieces. Huge projects can feel like a mountain. But if you cut them into smaller steps, it will make it less scary (可怕的).2. Just tell yourself, “Today, I’ll choose my topic and write a little. I’ll take care of more tomorrow.” Step by step, it gets done.
The “work and rest” way is also a smart choice for being productive. Set a timer for 25 minutes—go all in, full attention. 3. Have some cookies. Walk around. Once you get going, it’s easier to keep it up.
4. Put away your MP3 player and any kind of toys. Find a quiet place where you won’t get interrupted (打扰) at all. The less noise, the better your brain can lock in.
And don’t forget to treat yourself. For example, listen to your favorite song, or watch an interesting TV program. These little things keep you going. 5. Finally, you are sure to see the payoff.
A.Then take a five-minute break.

Life is full of unforgettable moments, whether they’re about success, challenges or kindness. One story that happened last Friday left a deep impression on me.
It was a bright morning on the school sports ground, filled with cheers. During the 100-meter race, a classmate suddenly fell. As I was responsible for first aid coordination, I quickly rushed to get help and brought water. Other classmates comforted him while we waited for the staff to arrive. Fortunately, he was fine after receiving treatment.

Sunshine does make people happier. Imagine how cheerful you are when it clears up after long cold rainy days. Let’s discover science behind sunlight.
Sunlight causes you to produce a chemical (化学物质) called serotonin (血清素). When you are exposed to sunlight, your body will make more serotonin. Higher levels of serotonin will keep you in good spirits. At night, when there is little or no light, your body produces another chemical—melatonin (褪黑激素). It helps your body relax and will make
you feel tired, which can prepare you for a good night’s sleep.
You should keep a good balance between these two chemicals.
However, for many people, it is hard to balance sunlight with darkness. People who stay indoors a lot may not get enough sunlight. The light in a house is usually about 100 times less than that outside on a sunny day. That’s why it is believed that those people should get outside in the sunshine. They can get some exercise, enjoy the fresh air and be happy, all at the same time.
There are places where it gets dark for a long time in winter. People in those places are easier to get seasonal affective disorder (SAD). People with SAD usually go through bad experiences such as low energy and sadness. The most common treatment for those people is to sit under bright artificial (人工的) lights for some time.
The roles that sunshine plays in people’s life are more than those above. For example, your body produces Vitamin D (维生素D) from sunlight, which is important for being healthy. In fact, there is more science about sunlight for you to discover. So next time, when you notice the sunshine on your shoulder, take a moment to think, “Why do we love sunshine ”

D.People’s bodies produce something called Vitamin D from sunlight.
5.Jack is a person with SAD. How could he solve his problem according to the text
A.By staying indoors a lot.
B.By taking in more fresh air.
C.By doing some exercise.
D.By using man-made lights.
6.Why is the sentence “Why do we love sunshine ” written in the last paragraph
A.To encourage readers to learn more about sunlight.
B.To advise readers to stay in houses for enough time.
C.To expect readers to realize the importance of vitamin.
D.To invite readers to walk into nature to enjoy the fresh air.

(2025·湖北中考)Long ago, in ancient China, there was a story about the invention of silk. People believed that silk was first invented by Leizu, the wife of the Yellow Emperor. Leizu learned how to make cocoons (蚕茧) into soft and strong cloth. This magical cloth became known as “silk”, and it was so valuable that it was called “China’s Gold”. Following kings’ orders, the Chinese kept the secret of making silk for centuries.
But then, something amazing happened! During the Han Dynasty, the brave officer Zhang Qian traveled west as far as Central Asia and brought silk there. As years passed by, silk became so important that the trade road from Europe to China got its name—the Silk Road.
The Silk Road became a busy highway for traders who carried things across deserts and mountains. From China, people sold silk and tea. In return, they received treasures such as spices (香料), gold and silver from the West. At the very beginning, it was mainly about trade; then people began to share ideas, technologies and cultures. For example, Chinese inventions like papermaking were spread to the West, while new ideas about math and science came to China.
Most importantly, the Silk Road helped different cultures learn from each other. Art, music and even language were shared along this ancient road. In places like the Dunhuang Grottoes (敦煌石窟) in China, you can see how art pieces combined (融合) Eastern and Western styles into something distinctive. It cannot be seen anywhere else.
The story of the Silk Road tells us how people from faraway lands could become friends through trade and shared ideas. (2025·河南许昌一模)Careless mistakes cannot be completely avoided. Some might think they are just about being careless. But when we look closer, we can find that these mistakes actually show how we think. They show deeper patterns (方式) in our mind. Fixing them isn’t just about trying harder, it’s about changing how we learn and solve problems.
One way to help is by keeping a “mistake notebook”. In this notebook, we write down the mistakes we make, like reading instructions wrongly, misunderstanding logic (逻辑), or working out numbers incorrectly. By doing this, we can see patterns in our mistakes and learn from them instead of feeling bad about them.
Another good idea is to make lists for different subjects. For math, we can write down steps like checking our answers. For writing, we can review our papers and look for grammar mistakes. These lists are like little helpers that guide us through our work and help us make fewer mistakes.
Taking breaks is important too. When we feel nervous, we should take a deep breath, think about how to deal with the problem, and slow down. This helps us catch mistakes before they happen.
And, it’s really important to celebrate when we make progress, even if it’s just a little bit. This makes us feel good about ourselves and keeps us focused on getting better.
