World Health Day World Book Day World Smile Day
Look at the pictures and answer the questions.
World Health Day
The World Health Organization (WHO) was founded on 7 April 1948 to better address global health issues. Every year, the World Health Assembly meets in Geneva in Switzerland to review WHO’s work, set new goals and assign new tasks. The day is celebrated annually on 7 April.
World Book Day
World Book Day was created on 23 April 1995 by UNESCO, as it is the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare and of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, the prominent Spanish chronicler. Books have been educating and inspiring people for hundreds of years, and the absolute best way to celebrate this day would be to find the time to do some reading.
World Smile Day
World Smile Day is celebrated on the first Friday of October every year. The idea was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from the US. He is known to have created for the Smiley Face in 1963. The day is created for the spreading of simple joy and love to everyone, regardless of race, gender, or geographic location.
Think of a special day you would like to plete the table to help organise your ideas.
Talk about your ideas following the steps below.
1 Say what day you would like to create and when it is.
2 State why you would like to create it.
3 Talk about special activities to celebrate it.
