第二节
Dear Steven,
I am delighted that my winter holiday is coming. That means I can finally have
some time to arrange my days as I like. First, I will help my parents with housework,
such as tidying rooms and cooking simple meals, because I am eager to let them relax
after a long day’s work.
Besides, I plan to read several English novels that my teacher recommended to me
to improve my reading skills, and I will also take part in a basketball training camp
where I can make more friends who share the same interest.
What about your winter holiday plan I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours,
Li Hua
第三节
范文:
“I’d like to meet a bear today.” Grunty Pig said. He shook his little tail and ran off quickly,
not listening to the Muley Cow’s worried shouts behind him. He felt excited about the adventure,
thinking the cow was just trying to frighten him. Soon, he walked into a dark bush at the foot of
Blue Mountain. All of a sudden, a low growl came from nearby. A big brown bear stepped out, its
eyes shining like two dark balls in the dim light and its sharp claws scraping the ground restlessly.
Grunty felt scared to death, and his legs shook so hard that he could hardly stand up.
Farmer Green fired with a shotgun towards the sky while rushing towards the bear. The loud
sound broke the quiet air at once, surprising the bear so much that it let out a frightened snort. It
looked at the angry farmer, then at the tiny pig shaking on the ground, and decided the small meal
wasn’t worth the danger. With a wave of its furry back legs, it walked slowly away into the deep

forest. Farmer Green hurried to Grunty and lifted the trembling little pig into his arms gently.
“Silly little guy,” he sighed, his voice full of relief, “why didn’t you listen to the warning ” Tears
ran down Grunty’s cheeks, and at that moment, he promised himself that he would never sneak out
alone again.

Text 1
W: The weather changes so fast. It was sunny just a moment ago !Now dark clouds are
hanging low. I'm afraid it's going to pour. Let's move fast to the Pinewood Mall.
M: Better still, let's take a taxi home. The mall is a little far.
Text 2
W: Excuse me, can you tell me where Tom's Bike Shop is I followed the map app on my
phone, but I can't find it.
M: It just moved recently. The map app might not have been updated in time.
Text 3
W: It's your turn to go on stage next, Isaac.
M: I feel like I've forgotten all the lines. I can't even make a single move.
W: Now close your eyes and breathe deeply.
Text 4
W: Look at that girl under the tree. Is she the new student in our class
M: Yeah, that's Mary. Shall we go and say hello
W: We can't. Our bus is coming.
Text 5
M: Recently, I've been reading The Lord of the rings by J. R. R. Tolkien, and I just can't put it
down.
W: I like it, too. The novel is full of fantasy elements. I recommend you to watch the movies
adapted from it.
Text 6
W: I'm starting a backyard vegetable garden.
M:⑥Chloe, how did you get the idea
W:⑥My grandfather encouraged me to do so, and he taught me some gardening skills.
M: Have you decided what vegetables to grow in your garden How about cabbage and
green beans My neighbor has green fingers and once told me they're easy to take care of.
W: Thanks for the advice,⑦but I've decided to start with tomatoes and carrots.
Text 7
W:⑧Did you get your flu shot
M: Yeah, ⑧my mom took me to get it last month. She always says prevention is better than
cure.
W:I haven't got mine yet. It seems unnecessary, because I hardly get sick.
M: But last winter, several students missed a couple of classes because of the flu. A flu shot
would have prevented that.
W: Maybe you're right. ⑨Mrs. Morrell also reminds us to open windows daily—— fresh air
can reduce the spread of the flu.
M: Exactly. Small things like washing hands work, too.
W: I'll go and get the shot this weekend. Better safe than sorry.

theme of their performance was “the Silk Road”, and they mixed traditional Chinese dance
moves with amazing lifts and jumps. At the end, they made a lotus flower shape in the water.
M: That sounds wonderful How about other teams
W: Russia came in second with their powerful “Bolero” routine, while America took third
with a lively jazz performance.

M: Hey, Flora! I heard you just came back from a weekend trip to Shanghai. How was it
W: It was crazy but awesome! I tried the “Special Forces Tourism”. It means visiting as
many sights as possible in a super short time. My cousin and I left for Shanghai by train on
Friday night and got there at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday. In those two days, we visited 7 places!
M: Seven places How did you manage
W: On Saturday morning, we visited the Bund at sunrise, and then we went to Yuyuan
Garden. In the afternoon, we checked out Nanjing Road and the Shanghai Tower. We even
went to a night market for snacks.
M: That's a non- stop schedule! Did you have time to rest
W: Yes. We booked a hotel near the train station. We slept for a few hours. Then on
Sunday, we went to the Shanghai Museum and a historic alley. We were back by Monday
morning.
M: That's intense. Was it worth it
W: Totally! I saw everything I wanted. Would you like to try the “Special ForcesTourism”
M: Maybe not—— sounds like too much running.
Text 10
M: ⒄I am robot Y560192. I was named this way so that my colleagues and Robo Shepherds
could tell me apart from the infinite network of working robots. And the truth is that the
names of robots do not hold any significant meaning because what matters the most is the
work we do.
I work in a consumer finance company. I almost work day and night so that the
customers' credit applications are handled as quickly as possible. Every 15 minutes, I
check the system for new tasks. I would never process the same application twice. I am
always 100% focused, and never make mistakes. For example, I read data about the
customer's income and loan repayment plan—— that's a lot of various numbers and people
can easily make a mistake when they copy them to a different file, which is why I am
responsible for this job.
To learn how robots can help your business, read Digital Teammates' automation
examples. They show how robots work and can benefit your company.
