Making a plan
In the UK and the US, senior high school students take part in various after-school activities, such as club activities and volunteer work. These activities not only help them gain more skills, but also teach them to care about others. After-school activities also play a part when students apply to college. However, they can take up a lot of time, so students have to learn to organise their busy schedules. To help them do this, some senior high schools offer courses in time management.

Review this week’s English lessons together at your or Student A’s home.
Watch a new English-language film at the cinema. (There’s one that starts at 12:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm, lasting one and a half hours.)
Go to the bookshop to buy a new dictionary. (It’s open from 9 am to 6 pm.)
Take part in the English Club Drama Day. (It’s on Saturday from 6 pm to 8 pm.)

Student B
Act out your conversation in front of the class.
Student A: Hey, I think we should make a weekend study plan for our
English. I've got a couple ideas - first, we could go to
Sunshine Bookstore to buy a new English dictionary. It's
open 9 am to 6 pm.
Student B: Good thinking! Having a quality dictionary would really help.
How about we go Saturday morning at 10 Then we can
review this week's lessons together. We could study at my
home after the bookstore.
Student A: Perfect! Let's review lessons at your house from 11:30 to
12:30. By the way, I really want to attend the English Club's
Drama Day at school - it's 6 to 8pm Saturday. This activity is
good for spoken English.
Student B: That works! And here's my other idea: There's a new
fantasy film in English at Crown Cinema - at 3:30pm. We
can watch the movie right before drama club.
Student A: Brilliant! So our Saturday plan would be:
10:00am: Meet at Sunshine Bookstore
11:30am: Lesson review at your home
3:30pm: English movie at Crown Cinema (ends at 5:00)
5:45pm: Head to school for Drama Day (6-8pm)
Student B: Exactly!
Make another weekend plan and have a similar conversation.
