时态 构成 (以do为例) 用法
一般现在时 do / does 表示经常发生的动作或存在的状态
表示按计划、规定要发生的动作
表示客观存在或普遍真理
一般过去时 did 表示过去发生的动作或存在的状态
一般将来时 will do; shall do; am/is/are going to do 表示将要发生的动作或存在的状态、未来习惯性的动作、提出请求等
五大时态概述
时态 构成(以do为例) 用法
现在进行时 am/is/are +doing 表示现在正在进行的动作
现在完成时 have / has done 表示说话时已经完成的动作,而且这个动作对现在仍有影响
表示动作发生在过去,但一直持续到现在,并且有可能继续持续下去
1. 一般现在时的用法
(1) 表示经常性、习惯性的动作和现在的状态、特征, 句中 常用often, usually, every day等时间状语。
e.g. He goes to school every day. (经常性动作)
My daughter is very happy. (现在的状态)
(2) 表示按计划、规定要发生的动作, 句中常带有时间状语, 但限于少数动词。如begin, come, leave, go, arrive, start, stop, return, open, close等。
e.g. The train starts at nine in the morning.
五大时态详述
(3) 表示客观真实或普遍真理。
e.g. Light travels faster than sound.
(4) 书报的标题, 小说、剧情等情节介绍常用一般现在时。
e.g. The present meets journalists.
(5) 在时间和条件状语从句中, 用一般现在时代替一般将来时。
e.g. If you come this afternoon, we’ll have a meeting.
2. 一般过去时的用法
(1) 表示过去某时间发生的事、存在的状态或过去反复发生的动作。
e.g. He saw Mr. Wang yesterday.
He worked in a factory in 1986.
(2) 表示过去经常发生的动作(也可用used to或“would+动词原形”代替)。
e.g. During the vacation I often swam / would swim in the sea.
I used to smoke.
used to表示过去常发生而现在不再发生的动作或存在的状态。
注意
3. 一般将来时的用法
一般将来时表示将来的动作或状态,常与表示将来的时间状语连用,如tomorrow, next week, in the future等。
其形式除了“will或shall+动词原形”外, 还有以下几种:
(1) “is / am/ are going to+动词原形”, 表示即将发生的或最近打算进行的事。
e.g. It is going to rain.
We are going to do some shopping today.
(3) “be to+动词原形”表示按计划要发生的事或征求对方意见, 也可以表示命令、禁止等。
e.g. You are to hand in your papers by 10 o’clock.
(2) “be about to+动词原形”表示即将发生的动作。一般不与具体的时间状语连用。
e.g. The plane is about to leave.
(4) 在表示未来的安排和计划时,常可用现在进行时。
e.g. We’re going to a football match in Saturday.

4. 现在进行时的用法
(1) 表示说话时正在进行的动作。常与now, right now, at present, at moment等时间状语及look, listen等标志词连用。
e.g. We are working on the problem now.
(2) 表示按计划或安排将要发生的动作。常用的动词有go, come, leave, arrive, begin, stop等。
e.g. My sister is coming back from Beijing.
(3) 与always, constantly等连用, 表示感彩。
e.g. He is always helping others.
(4) 表示现阶段正在进行而此时不一定正在进行的动作。
e.g. He is writing a book these days.
下列动词(短语)不宜用进行时
① 感觉类:look, smell, feel, sound, taste, see, hear等;
② 感情类:like, love, prefer, admire, hate, fear等;
③ 所属类:have, contain, own, hold, belong to等。
另外“系动词+介词或副词”也表示进行时的意义。
e.g. The bridge is under construction.
注意
5. 现在完成时的用法
(1) 表示动作在说话之前已完成, 并对现在有影响, 常与 already, just, yet, before, so far等连用。
e.g. We have received a letter from him recently.
He has gone to Beijing. 他去北京了。
(现在可能在去北京的路上,也可能已到达北京)
He has been to Beijing.
他曾经去过北京。
(2) 表示过去的动作持续到现在, 也许还会持续下去。常与for, since, so far, in the past / last few years, up to now等连用。
e.g. He has studied English for 5 years.
He has studied English since 2014.
表示短暂性动作的词, 如come, go, die, marry, buy等在现在完成时中不能与for, since等表示时间段的短语连用。
注意
(3) 还可用在时间和条件状语从句中, 表示将来某时完成的动作, 强调此动作先于主句动作发生。
e.g. I’ll go to your home when I have finished my homework.

She looks almost the same as she did ten years ago, with smooth skin and straight black hair, because jogging has kept her slim and fit.

Her hair has got a lot longer and she wears it in a ponytail. She also has freckles on her cheeks now.
Underline the words and expressions used to describe appearances in Activity 4 and put them into the table. Add any more you can think of.

Dad has changed quite a bit! In his thirties, he was quite thin and pale, and he had red, bushy hair. Nowadays, he’s well-built and tanned. He’s always had a square jaw, but now he’s grown a beard. Strangely, his beard is still red even though his hair is turning grey!
Mum looks almost the same, though. She still has smooth skin and straight black hair, and jogging has kept her slim and fit.
I still have light skin and black hair, of course. But I usually wear my hair in a ponytail these days as it has got a lot longer. Mum says I had cute rosy cheeks, but now I have freckles. I think they are kind of cute too, right

My dad is a nice man of medium build. He was young and thin in my memory but now he is becoming stout yet a bit old. His face is round and he has a mustache which has become a little grey. I remember that his moustache prickled when he kissed me as a kid. Now I am a senior. How time flies! His hair is no longer black and turns grey. He must be working too hard!
