The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), in Pasadena, California is a federally funded (由联
邦政府资助的) NASA research and development center. Spacecraft developed or managed
by JPL have journeyed to every planet in our solar system.
One of JPL's projects is developing three rovers (漫游车) to survey the moon. Using
Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Exploration (CADRE) technology, these rovers.
are able to explore the moon together without receiving direction from Earth. By taking
simultaneous measurements (同步测屈) at different locations using cameras and rad釭(雷达).
。the three can gather information that would be impossible for a single rover to collect.
It talces teamwork to build rovers for a project like this. Engineers Tonya Beatty, Molly
Shelton, and Jean-Pierre de la Croix are three of the people working on出e CADRE project.
Beatty, a mechanical (机械) en臣neer, helps build the base and the parts that enable a rover
.to move. She produces the wheels (轮子),which have sharp points to dig into the moon's:
surface so the rover doesn't slip (滑). Shelton, a power systems engineer, installs the solar
panels (安装太阳能电池板)that p.ower the rovers. The rovers have computer technolo窃
that helps them find sunny spots where they can recharge. Jean-Pierre, a robotics systems
engineer, writes the computer code (代码) that tells the rovers what to do. "It's never 100%

Wind power
Wind power is a clean and amazing so1rrce of energy that
comes from the wind. You might have seen tall wind turbines (涡
轮机)with big blades (叶片) running in fields or near the sea—
those are the machines lhat tum wind into electricity we can use.
言 How does it work When the wind blows. it pushes the turbine's blades. The running blades drive a generator (发电机) inside the turbine, and the generator makes electricity. This
process doesn't bum any fuel, so it doesn t release dirty gases
into the air. That's why wind power is much better for the environment than coal or oil_
Many countries, like China, use a lot of wind power. There are wind fanns with hundreds
of turbines working together. Some wind farms are even built out at sea, where the wind
is stronger and more constant (恒定的). These offshore wind farms can produce lots of
electricity for homes, schools, and hospitals.
Wind power also helps save our planet. As we use more wind energy, we depend less on
fossil fuels (化石燃料),which cause climate (气候) change. Plus, 面nd is free and will never
run out-unlike coal or gas. Even students can learn about面nd power and help promote (推
广) it by saving electricity in daily life.
Wind power is not just a kind of energy, it's a hope for a greener future. With more wind
turbines, we can make the Earth cleaner and healthier for everyone.
61. According to the passage, where do we see the tall wind turbines with big blades
62. How do wind turbines produce electricity
