To understand middle school students understanding of Xinjiang local culture, a survey was
carried out among 4,500 students from 40 middle schools in Xinjiang in 2024. The survey included
two aspects: types of Xinjiang local culture known and ways of understanding Xinjiang local culture.
The results showed that most students knew Kanas culture, with a recognition rate of 93%. The
recognition rate of Uyghur culture was 86%, which was lower than that of Kanas culture. Only 76%
of the students knew Silk Road culture, and the recognition rate of grape culture was 89%.
In terms of ways of understanding, 62% of the students learned about Xinjiang local culture
from school courses, 23% from family members, 11% from the Internet, and only 4% from
community activities.
