1主概括(文章整体内容) ;
2过渡性子(文章结构) ;
第一步:认真阅读文章的开头部分,以明确文章的基本话题;
第二步:快速阅读首尾段、每段的首尾句以及文章中带转折词的句子,以便掌握文章大意;
第三步:仔细阅读各个选项,并画出关键词;
第四步:阅读各个空的前后句,并画出关键词;
第五步:对比并匹配上述两类关键词,并按照先易后难的顺序选出答案。一旦确定一个选项,就要在该选项上做出标记,以免分散注意力;
(2) 结论、概括性语句,查找关键词,如:therefore、as a result、in a word 等。

5 Ways to Train Your Brain for Better Sleep
The days are longer, full of sunshine and bright with the promise of enjoying a more relaxing spring and summer with your loved ones. But if you want to enjoy your daytime, it’s time to improve your sleep during the night-time. “Sleep problems endanger health and quality (质量) of life for up to 45% of the world’s population,” according to the World Sleep Society.
Sleep is one of the three keys to a healthier, longer life (the others are diet and exercise). 6 Here are the top five ways to improve your sleep and get some relaxation. Create a sleep nest
7 Science tells us that we sleep better in cooler temperatures of about 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit (15℃ to 20℃). Develop a routine
Set up a bedtime ritual by taking a warm bath or shower, reading a book or listening to soft music. You’re teaching your mind to relax. And stick to it. Go to bed and get up at the same time each day, even on weekends or your days off. 8 Cut the lights
Production of the sleep hormone melatonin (褪黑激素) begins at dark. Research has found that the body will slow or even stop its production when lights are on, so try to stay away from any light, even the blue glow from your charging smartphone.Refuse the wine
Don’t turn to wine to make you calm or help you sleep. 9 Your body needs to experience all three steps of sleep—light sleep, dream, and deep sleep—to fully repair itself. 10
Heavy and spicy foods may give you heartburn or other digestive problems. Thus influencing your ability to get and stay asleep.
If you try these tips and can’t seem to relax, or your sleep continues to worsen, be sure to reach out to your doctor or a mental health professional.
A.The body likes routine.
B.Avoid heavy or hot foods
C.Refuse coffee later in the day.
D.One of the first tasks is to set up your sleep environment.
E.Wine may help you fall asleep, but it holds you in the lighter sleep.

There is no way that you don’t have any embarrassing moments. You can’t control everything that happens, so you’re going to be in an embarrassing situation one day. 11 The answer is to control your actions and try not to get upset.
◆Remember that you’ll probably laugh about it in a few days. 12
◆If it is something so embarrassing that you feel you will never laugh about it, please remember that the trouble will be over after some time.
◆ 13 If you’ve done the same for them, they’re more likely to agree to give you a break.
Always remember that you are not alone. 14 While you are sure that everyone is going to remember this moment forever, the fact is that they’ll probably forget it very soon. Most of us remember the moments in which we feel embarrassed, but very few of us remember other people’s embarrassing moments. 15 So while you may never forget the moment when your skirt was torn (撕裂) in gym class, most of the other people probably forget it at once. Although a short memory may not be a helpful thing when you are trying to remember facts in a history test, it is useful when you are trying to forget life’s most embarrassing moments.
A.So try to see the funny side of it.
B.Most people have short memories.
C.So how can you solve this problem
D.Do you want to play jokes on others
E.Everyone has embarrassing moments.
F.Ask your friends to give you a break and not to make fun of you.
G.Sometimes we have to face embarrassing moments when we can only keep silent.

Five tips on improving your memory
Most of us know that our brains become smaller in size as we get older, but do you know that diet and lifestyle have an effect on how well our brains work
Research shows that eating lots of fruit, vegetables and proteins (蛋白质) improves the memory. 31 Eating oily fish or dark chocolate (with over 70% cocoa) and taking Vitamin D3 can also help make our memory stronger.
32 A 2011 study showed that regular exercise actually increases brain size. Another study found that exercise improves the memory in some older people; surprisingly it found that one single training period has the same effect on the memory as a regular, long exercise period!
One study found that eight weeks of short, daily meditation (冥想) improves the memory. Other ways to relax can also improve our short-term memory. Try taking 5-10 minutes of your day to meditate or listen to music. 33
Experts say that age reduces our ability to learn, but sleep can help. 34 A 2019 study found that students learn things better before and after a short sleep!
35 Try to memorize information like phone numbers and addresses rather than putting the information in your phone. You could also learn a language or do brain training like crosswords

If we want to enter any building, we must go through a door. And that building could be a new home, an interesting store or a restaurant. 41 If you think about it, doors offer us many possibilities and opportunities (机会)! That may be why we have several expressions that connect the door with the opportunity.
An opportunity is a chance for greater success. Or it can be just a chance for something different. 42 “When opportunity comes knocking, be ready to answer the door. ” This expression means you don’t want to miss an opportunity. 43 That’s why we also say, “Opportunity knocks but once. ” We use these expressions to ask people to act quickly and to take an opportunity when it comes.
Sometimes an opportunity isn’t a completely open door. Maybe the door is open just a little. If you want to get in, you should be sure to put your “foot in the door”. 44 With your foot in the door, you are one step closer to making that happen. Sometimes, all you need to succeed is a small chance. Getting your foot in the door is a way to open that door of opportunity for yourself.
45 The door of opportunity slams (砰地关上) in our face. But that’s okay. “When one door closes, another one opens.” This expression means that the end of one opportunity may be followed by the start of a new one. You can use this expression to offer hope to someone who may have lost a good opportunity.
A.Sometimes things do not go our way.
B.You don’t always get a second chance.
C.What do you do with the opportunity
D.But you won’t know unless you open the door.
E.You want to be part of whatever is happening there.
F.So if you meet a good chance, try your best to catch it.
G.We don’t know for sure what is on the other side of a door.

Do your family members buy the week’s groceries (食品杂货) including many bottled drinks into your home Because after having sports or hanging out under the sun, it’s so cool to get a cold one out of the fridge, right
46 Americans buy more bottled water than any other nation in the world with 29 billion water bottles a year. In order to make all these bottles, 17 million barrels (桶) of oil which is enough to keep a million cars going for twelve months will be used up.
47 In fact, instead of being thrown away with the trash, plastic bottles can be turned into carpeting or clothing. Remember this: Recycling one plastic bottle can save enough energy to power a 60-watt (瓦特) light bulb for six hours.
Unfortunately, in every six water bottles we use, only one is finally recycled. The rest are treated as garbage. Or even worse, they end up as trash on the land or in rivers and oceans. 48
So why don’t more people drink water from the kitchen Some people drink bottled water because they think it is better for them, but that’s not true. 49 They can do harm to people.
So next time when you have water or other drinks, please try to use a glass at home or carry water in a steel bottle. 50
A.The safety of using plastic cups was questioned.
B.Plastic bottles take hundreds of years to break down.

Do you like to read comic (连环漫画) books Even if you have never read an actual comic book, you probably know some characters from comic books. Do you know Captain America How about Spiderman Do you recognize Thor and Loki Have you ever watched Superman 51
A comic book is a book made up of a series of pictures. The art and words are called “comic”, but that doesn’t always mean “funny”. 52
Rodolphe Topffer was a teacher, but he also developed several comic strips (连环漫画) which were published in 1827 in different places. These were all drawn carefully by hand. 53 Topffer wrote in horizontal (水平的) blocks in his own handwriting. This became the standard.
54 Here, artists loved the idea and developed the technique (技巧) of using travel notes in their comics, which were always popular. The French also took part in strip comics, while there were still others who stuck to single comics that were going down the page in the book — instead of horizontal.
Comics started to become popular in the 20th century. 55 Comic strip artists have often used art to “make fun” of very serious subjects. Even when they were not “making fun”, they used the comics and the characters to deal with serious topics.
Comic books continue to be popular, but over time, many of their characters have also been pictured in television shows and movies.
A.Other artists don’t like comic strips.
B.Sometimes the comics are more serious.
C.Comic strips became popular in France.

F.More people started reading comics on their phones.

56 When kids break rules, parents will give them some punishments, which aren’t included in rules. In fact, when you tell your kids about a new rule, you should talk with them about the price they should pay for breaking the rule — what the punishment will be.
57 For example, if you find your son smoking, you may limit his social activities for two weeks. 58 A study shows that the most popular punishment is to limit kids’ TV time.
It’s understandable that you’ll be angry when rules are broken. 59 Sharing your feelings of anger, disappointment or sadness with your kids can have a better effect on them. Try to do that. When your kids know what they have done has made you sad, they will feel guilty. When they know their actions influence you greatly, they will obey rules better.
60 If your rules or ways of punishment make them unhappy or under a lot of pressure, are they helpful
A.Kids will not obey the rules.
B.Rules are made to help your kids behave better.
C.You felt angry when your kids broke the rules.
D.Many parents like setting family rules for their kids.
E.Punishment is a way to express your anger, but it’s not a very good one.
