Weather and Mood

Do you know how weather affects our lives Well, it affects where we go, what we do, and what we wear. And it also affects how we feel and behave. It is a big part of our lives!
你知道天气会如何影响我们的生活吗？它不仅决定了我们的出行目的地、日常活动和穿搭选择，还会影响我们的情绪和行为，是我们生活中不可或缺的一部分。
We often use weather language to describe how we feel. For example, if we are feeling ill, we say we are "under the weather". If we are feeling stressed and busy, we can say that we are "snowed under". We use "bad" weather (rainy, stormy, etc.) to describe a bad mood, and "good" weather (sunny, warm, etc.) to describe a good mood.
我们常常会用和天气相关的表达来描述自己的感受。比如身体不舒服时，我们会说“under the weather”（身体不适）；压力大、忙得不可开交时，会说“snowed under”（忙得焦头烂额）。我们习惯用“坏天气”（如雨天、暴风雨天）来形容糟糕的心情，用“好天气”（如晴天、温暖的天气）来形容愉悦的心情。
And that is not all. The weather can even change the way we feel! For example, sunlight helps our body to produce vitamin D. This vitamin can improve our mood. But some parts of the world get little sunlight in winter, so people can feel unusually sad then. However, when it is hot and sunny, some people may get angry easily too! Scientists are still studying how the weather changes the way people feel and behave.

These days, many of us spend less time outside than in the past. Getting no fresh air or sunlight and spending too much time inside can make us feel down. It is very important to go outside once in a while, whatever the weather, rain or shine!
如今，我们很多人待在室内的时间比过去多了不少。缺乏新鲜空气和阳光、长时间闷在屋里会让我们心情低落。无论晴雨，偶尔出门走走都非常重要！

Today was an amazing day. There was a total solar eclipse in Wuhan! I woke up early because I couldn't wait to see it!
今天真是太难忘了！武汉出现了日全食！我一大早就醒了，因为实在迫不及待想要一睹奇观！
My friends and I went down to the Yangtze River to find a good place to watch it. We took cameras, chairs, food and drink, and special glasses so we could look at it. Lots of people gathered there to watch too. Slowly, the moon moved in front of the sun. It looked like someone bit a hole in the sun! It got darker and darker as the moon slowly covered the sun.
我和朋友们来到长江边，找了个绝佳的观测点。我们带上了相机、椅子、食物和饮料，还有观测日食专用的眼镜。那里也聚集了很多前来观日食的人。月亮缓缓移到太阳前方，看上去就像有人在太阳上咬了个洞！随着月亮逐渐遮住太阳，天色也越来越暗。
At 9:26 a.m. the moon completely covered the sun. The sky went dark. The crowd gasped and cheered. The light of the sun made a ring of light around the moon. I took this photograph then. The total eclipse lasted for over five minutes! Then it passed and the sky started to get brighter again.
上午9点26分，月亮完全遮住了太阳，天空骤然暗了下来。人群中响起一片惊叹和欢呼声，太阳的光芒在月亮周围形成了一道光环。我当即拍下了这一幕。日全食持续了五分多钟！随后，日食现象逐渐消失，天色又慢慢亮了起来。
I was really inspired by the eclipse this morning. In the afternoon, I spent hours reading about astronomers, eclipses, and how the planets move in our solar system. The universe is simply amazing! I also watched some videos with famous Chinese astronauts. I want to become an astronaut or astronomer someday too. The sky is the limit!
今天早上的日全食让我深受触动。下午，我花了好几个小时查阅资料，了解天文学家、日食现象以及太阳系中行星的运行规律。宇宙简直太奇妙了！我还看了一些中国著名航天员的视频。我希望有朝一日自己也能成为航天员或天文学家，未来可期！

The Fisherman and the Golden Fish

Narrator: There was once a fisherman who lived in a small house by the sea with his wife. One day, something very special happened.
旁白：从前，有一位渔夫和他的妻子住在海边的一间小屋里。有一天，一件非同寻常的事情发生了。
Scene One [The fisherman's hut.]
第一幕 【渔夫的小屋】
Fisherman: An amazing thing happened when I went fishing today! I caught a little golden fish. It could speak! It promised me whatever I wanted if I set it free.
渔夫：我今天打鱼的时候遇到了一件怪事！我捕到了一条小金魚，它居然会说话！它说只要我放了它，就满足我任何愿望。
Wife: At last, fortune smiles upon us! What did you wish for
妻子：我们终于时来运转了！你许了什么愿望？
Fisherman: Well ... I felt sorry for the fish, so I just put it back into the sea.
渔夫：嗯……我觉得它很可怜，就直接把它放回海里了。
Narrator: His wife was very angry and made him find the fish.
旁白：渔夫的妻子听后勃然大怒，逼着他去找那条金鱼。
Scene Two [By the sea.]
第二幕 【海边】
Fisherman: Little golden fish, are you there
渔夫：小金鱼，你在吗？
Golden fish: Hello, kind fisherman. What's the matter
金鱼：你好呀，善良的渔夫。有什么事吗？
Fisherman: My wife was very angry because I didn't make a wish. We need a new pot. Please give us one!
渔夫：我妻子因为我没许愿，气得不行。我们需要一口新锅，能送给我们一口吗？
Narrator: The golden fish said yes, and it went back into the water.
旁白：金鱼答应了他的请求，然后游回了海里。
Scene Three [The fisherman's hut.]
第三幕 【渔夫的小屋】
Narrator: Back home, the fisherman found a new pot outside the house.
旁白：渔夫回到家，发现屋子门口放着一口新锅。
Fisherman: Look, a new pot!
渔夫：快看，一口新锅！
Wife: You fool! Can't you see we need a new house instead Go back again and ask for one!
妻子：你这个笨蛋！你没看出来我们更需要一栋新房子吗？回去再跟它要一栋！
Scene Four [By the sea.]
第四幕 【海边】
Fisherman: Little golden fish, are you still there
渔夫：小金鱼，你还在吗？
Golden fish: Hello again, kind fisherman.
金鱼：你好呀，善良的渔夫。
Fisherman: My wife wants a new house! Can you help me please
渔夫：我妻子想要一栋新房子！你能帮帮我吗？
Narrator: Again, the golden fish granted his wish.
旁白：金鱼再一次满足了他的愿望。
Scene Five [The fisherman's hut.]

Narrator: The fisherman went back home. But his house was now big and beautiful.
旁白：渔夫回到家，原本的小屋已经变成了一栋宽敞漂亮的大房子。
Fisherman: Wow! Our house looks amazing!

Wife: The house is nice, but I want to be rich too! Go back and ask for money!

My best holiday experience was two years ago. My family lives in Wuhan, the biggest city in Central China. That summer, I decided to do something cool: cycling from Wuhan to Beijing with some friends from college. My parents were surprised at my idea, but soon they gave me all their support. With their help, I made a cycling plan. I also learnt a lot from other people's cycling experiences. I packed everything I needed and started the trip. The cycling took us almost a month to complete. It was tiring but worthwhile. I saw beautiful mountains, forests, and rivers. I met a lot of nice people, and some of them gave me a lot of help along the way. But there were also difficulties, and sometimes I just wanted to give up. However, when I finally arrived at the Tian'anmen Square, I was so proud of myself.
我最难忘的假期经历发生在两年前。我家住在华中地区最大的城市——武汉。那年夏天，我决定做一件很酷的事：和几个大学同学一起从武汉骑行到北京。父母一开始对我的想法很惊讶，但很快就全力支持我。在他们的帮助下，我制定了骑行计划，还借鉴了很多人的骑行经验。我收拾好所有必需品，就踏上了旅程。这次骑行花了我们将近一个月的时间，虽然很累，但非常值得。我沿途欣赏了壮丽的山川、茂密的森林和蜿蜒的河流，还遇到了很多善良的人，他们中的不少人都给了我很多帮助。当然，旅途中也遇到过不少困难，有时候我真的想过放弃。但当我最终站在天安门广场上时，我由衷地为自己感到骄傲。

My best holiday experience was when I learnt to scuba dive. My family and I went to a town beside the ocean. At first, I took some classes to learn how to scuba dive safely. I practised in a swimming pool for a few days. Then, I lived on a boat for a week in order to do scuba diving in the ocean. Every day, I went scuba diving with a guide. I saw so many colourful fish, amazing sea animals, and fantastic coral everywhere. While I was diving, another diver pointed, and I realized there was a baby shark near me. It was a stunning experience, and I will never forget it!
我最棒的假期经历是学习水肺潜水的时候。我和家人去了一个海滨小镇，最开始我参加了潜水课程，学习如何安全地进行水肺潜水。我在游泳池里练习了几天，之后为了能在海里潜水，我在一艘船上住了一个星期。每天，我都会跟着教练下海潜水。我看到了不计其数的五彩斑斓的鱼群、奇妙的海洋生物，还有随处可见的绝美珊瑚。有一次潜水时，旁边的一位潜水员指了指我的身旁，我才发现有一条小鲨鱼就在我附近。那是一次震撼的经历，我永远都不会忘记！

Anne was adopted by Marilla when she was little. They lived happily together on a farm called Green Gables. Now Anne is going to a university out of town, but Marilla gets sick ...
安妮年幼时被玛丽拉收养，两人一起住在名为绿山墙的农场里，日子过得十分幸福。如今，安妮即将去外地读大学，可玛丽拉却突然病倒了……
Anne came back and found Marilla sitting by the kitchen table. She looked tired.
安妮回到家，发现玛丽拉坐在厨房的餐桌旁，神色十分疲惫。
"Are you OK, Marilla "
“玛丽拉，你还好吗？”
"I saw the doctor," Marilla said sadly. "But it's no good talking about it, Anne. Can you get me a cup of tea "

"Could you tell me what the doctor said " Anne asked softly as she brought tea to Marilla.

"He said I must give up all reading, sewing, and farming, or I will go blind."
“他说我必须戒掉所有的阅读、缝纫和农活，否则就会失明。”
"Marilla, don't think of it," said Anne. "There is still hope."

"I don't know," said Marilla. "I'm afraid I have to sell Green Gables."

Anne was surprised. "Oh, Marilla, you can't! It's our home!"

"What else can I do, Anne I'm sorry you won't have a home to come to during your university holidays." Marilla began to cry.

That night, Anne sat in the darkness, alone with her tears and heavy heart. But before long, there was a smile on her lips and peace in her heart.

The next day, she spoke with Marilla. "You mustn't sell Green Gables. I'm going to teach here. I can't leave you alone, Marilla. I'll read to you. We'll be happy together."

Most people, not knowing about Marilla's eyes, thought Anne was foolish. Mrs Lynde, their neighbour, did not. She often found Anne and Marilla sitting outside their home. They liked sitting there at dusk, when the smell of flowers filled the air.

Road safety: Always wait for the green signal before crossing the road, and watch out for cars and buses. Wear bright colours, so the drivers can see you easily.
道路安全：过马路务必等绿灯，注意避让来往车辆；尽量穿戴颜色鲜艳的衣物，方便驾驶员看清。
Internet safety: Be careful of the dangers of online scams. Do not share personal information online. Avoid opening links and emails if you are suspicious of them. Tell your parents or teachers if something or somebody makes you uncomfortable online.
网络安全：警惕网络诈骗风险；切勿在网上泄露个人信息；对可疑的链接和邮件不要轻易点开；如果在网上遇到让你感到不适的人或事，要及时告诉父母或老师。
Travel safety: Be well prepared for travel. Take some medicine with you. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Bring enough water and food such as bread and biscuits because these don't go bad quickly.
出行安全：出行前做好充分准备；随身携带常用药品；穿戴舒适的鞋袜衣物；备好足量的饮用水和不易变质的食物，如面包、饼干等。
Food safety: Wash fruits carefully before you eat them. Check the dates on the packages of your snacks. If the food looks or smells bad, don't eat it.

Fire safety: Practise following a fire escape plan every term. When there is a fire, stay calm and follow the teacher's instructions. Leave the classroom quickly and use a piece of wet cloth to cover your mouth and nose so that you don't breathe in smoke.
消防安全：每学期都要演练火灾逃生预案；发生火灾时，保持冷静，听从老师指挥；迅速撤离教室，用湿毛巾捂住口鼻，避免吸入浓烟。

渔夫和金鱼的故事

Narrator: There was once a fisherman who lived in a small house by the sea with his wife. One day, something very special happened.
旁白：从前，有一位渔夫和他的妻子住在海边的一间小屋里。有一天，一件非同寻常的事情发生了。
Scene One [The fisherman's hut.]
第一幕 【渔夫的小屋】
Fisherman: An amazing thing happened when I went fishing today! I caught a little golden fish. It could speak! It promised me whatever I wanted if I set it free.
渔夫：我今天打鱼的时候遇到了一件怪事！我捕到了一条小金魚，它居然会说话！它说只要我放了它，就满足我任何愿望。
Wife: At last, fortune smiles upon us! What did you wish for
妻子：我们终于时来运转了！你许了什么愿望？
Fisherman: Well ... I felt sorry for the fish, so I just put it back into the sea.
渔夫：嗯……我觉得它很可怜，就直接把它放回海里了。
Narrator: His wife was very angry and made him find the fish.
旁白：渔夫的妻子听后勃然大怒，逼着他去找那条金鱼。
Scene Two [By the sea.]
第二幕 【海边】
Fisherman: Little golden fish, are you there
渔夫：小金鱼，你在吗？
Golden fish: Hello, kind fisherman. What's the matter
金鱼：你好呀，善良的渔夫。有什么事吗？
Fisherman: My wife was very angry because I didn't make a wish. We need a new pot. Please give us one!
渔夫：我妻子因为我没许愿，气得不行。我们需要一口新锅，能送给我们一口吗？
Narrator: The golden fish said yes, and it went back into the water.
旁白：金鱼答应了他的请求，然后游回了海里。
Scene Three [The fisherman's hut.]
第三幕 【渔夫的小屋】
Narrator: Back home, the fisherman found a new pot outside the house.
旁白：渔夫回到家，发现屋子门口放着一口新锅。
Fisherman: Look, a new pot!
渔夫：快看，一口新锅！
Wife: You fool! Can't you see we need a new house instead Go back again and ask for one!
妻子：你这个笨蛋！你没看出来我们更需要一栋新房子吗？回去再跟它要一栋！
Scene Four [By the sea.]
第四幕 【海边】
Fisherman: Little golden fish, are you still there
渔夫：小金鱼，你还在吗？
Golden fish: Hello again, kind fisherman.
金鱼：你好呀，善良的渔夫。
Fisherman: My wife wants a new house! Can you help me please
渔夫：我妻子想要一栋新房子！你能帮帮我吗？
Narrator: Again, the golden fish granted his wish.
旁白：金鱼再一次满足了他的愿望。
Scene Five [The fisherman's hut.]
第五幕 【渔夫的小屋】
Narrator: The fisherman went back home. But his house was now big and beautiful.
旁白：渔夫回到家，原本的小屋已经变成了一栋宽敞漂亮的大房子。
Fisherman: Wow! Our house looks amazing!
渔夫：哇！我们的房子太漂亮了！
Wife: The house is nice, but I want to be rich too! Go back and ask for money!
妻子：这房子是不错，但我还想变得有钱！回去跟它要钱！

My best holiday experience was two years ago. My family lives in Wuhan, the biggest city in Central China. That summer, I decided to do something cool: cycling from Wuhan to Beijing with some friends from college. My parents were surprised at my idea, but soon they gave me all their support. With their help, I made a cycling plan. I also learnt a lot from other people's cycling experiences. I packed everything I needed and started the trip. The cycling took us almost a month to complete. It was tiring but worthwhile. I saw beautiful mountains, forests, and rivers. I met a lot of nice people, and some of them gave me a lot of help along the way. But there were also difficulties, and sometimes I just wanted to give up. However, when I finally arrived at the Tian'anmen Square, I was so proud of myself.
我最难忘的假期经历发生在两年前。我家住在华中地区最大的城市——武汉。那年夏天，我决定做一件很酷的事：和几个大学同学一起从武汉骑行到北京。父母一开始对我的想法很惊讶，但很快就全力支持我。在他们的帮助下，我制定了骑行计划，还借鉴了很多人的骑行经验。我收拾好所有必需品，就踏上了旅程。这次骑行花了我们将近一个月的时间，虽然很累，但非常值得。我沿途欣赏了壮丽的山川、茂密的森林和蜿蜒的河流，还遇到了很多善良的人，他们中的不少人都给了我很多帮助。当然，旅途中也遇到过不少困难，有时候我真的想过放弃。但当我最终站在天安门广场上时，我由衷地为自己感到骄傲。

My best holiday experience was when I learnt to scuba dive. My family and I went to a town beside the ocean. At first, I took some classes to learn how to scuba dive safely. I practised in a swimming pool for a few days. Then, I lived on a boat for a week in order to do scuba diving in the ocean. Every day, I went scuba diving with a guide. I saw so many colourful fish, amazing sea animals, and fantastic coral everywhere. While I was diving, another diver pointed, and I realized there was a baby shark near me. It was a stunning experience, and I will never forget it!
我最棒的假期经历是学习水肺潜水的时候。我和家人去了一个海滨小镇，最开始我参加了潜水课程，学习如何安全地进行水肺潜水。我在游泳池里练习了几天，之后为了能在海里潜水，我在一艘船上住了一个星期。每天，我都会跟着教练下海潜水。我看到了不计其数的五彩斑斓的鱼群、奇妙的海洋生物，还有随处可见的绝美珊瑚。有一次潜水时，旁边的一位潜水员指了指我的身旁，我才发现有一条小鲨鱼就在我附近。那是一次震撼的经历，我永远都不会忘记！

Anne was adopted by Marilla when she was little. They lived happily together on a farm called Green Gables. Now Anne is going to a university out of town, but Marilla gets sick ...
安妮年幼时被玛丽拉收养，两人一起住在名为绿山墙的农场里，日子过得十分幸福。如今，安妮即将去外地读大学，可玛丽拉却突然病倒了……
Anne came back and found Marilla sitting by the kitchen table. She looked tired.
安妮回到家，发现玛丽拉坐在厨房的餐桌旁，神色十分疲惫。
"Are you OK, Marilla "
“玛丽拉，你还好吗？”
"I saw the doctor," Marilla said sadly. "But it's no good talking about it, Anne. Can you get me a cup of tea "
“我去看医生了，”玛丽拉难过地说，“但这事说起来也没用，安妮。能给我倒杯茶吗？”
"Could you tell me what the doctor said " Anne asked softly as she brought tea to Marilla.
“能告诉我医生怎么说吗？”安妮端着茶走到玛丽拉身边，轻声问道。
"He said I must give up all reading, sewing, and farming, or I will go blind."
“他说我必须戒掉所有的阅读、缝纫和农活，否则就会失明。”
"Marilla, don't think of it," said Anne. "There is still hope."
“玛丽拉，别这么想，”安妮安慰道，“肯定还有希望的。”
"I don't know," said Marilla. "I'm afraid I have to sell Green Gables."
“我不知道，”玛丽拉说，“恐怕我得把绿山墙卖掉了。”
Anne was surprised. "Oh, Marilla, you can't! It's our home!"
安妮大吃一惊：“哦，玛丽拉，你不能这么做！这是我们的家啊！”
"What else can I do, Anne I'm sorry you won't have a home to come to during your university holidays." Marilla began to cry.
“安妮，我还能有什么办法呢？我很抱歉，你上大学放假回来，就没有家可以住了。”玛丽拉说着，开始抽泣起来。
That night, Anne sat in the darkness, alone with her tears and heavy heart. But before long, there was a smile on her lips and peace in her heart.
那天晚上，安妮坐在漆黑的屋子里，独自落泪，心情沉重。但没过多久，她的嘴角慢慢扬起了微笑，内心也变得平静下来。
The next day, she spoke with Marilla. "You mustn't sell Green Gables. I'm going to teach here. I can't leave you alone, Marilla. I'll read to you. We'll be happy together."
第二天，她对玛丽拉说：“你绝对不能卖掉绿山墙。我打算留在这里教书，我不能把你一个人丢下。我会读东西给你听，我们会一起开开心心地生活。”
"Oh, Anne, you can't do that for me."

"But I want to! Nothing is worse than giving up our home."

"But your dreams ..."

"My dreams are the same: to be a good teacher, and to help you stay healthy. Nobody loves Green Gables as we do. We must keep it."
“我的梦想没有变，就是成为一名好老师，同时帮你养好身体。没有人能像我们一样爱绿山墙，我们必须守住它。”
Most people, not knowing about Marilla's eyes, thought Anne was foolish. Mrs Lynde, their neighbour, did not. She often found Anne and Marilla sitting outside their home. They liked sitting there at dusk, when the smell of flowers filled the air.
大多数人不知道玛丽拉眼睛的情况，都觉得安妮太傻了。但他们的邻居林德太太不这么认为。她经常看到安妮和玛丽拉坐在屋外，她们喜欢在黄昏时分待在那里，闻着空气中弥漫的花香。

Road safety: Always wait for the green signal before crossing the road, and watch out for cars and buses. Wear bright colours, so the drivers can see you easily.
道路安全：过马路务必等绿灯，注意避让来往车辆；尽量穿戴颜色鲜艳的衣物，方便驾驶员看清。
Internet safety: Be careful of the dangers of online scams. Do not share personal information online. Avoid opening links and emails if you are suspicious of them. Tell your parents or teachers if something or somebody makes you uncomfortable online.
网络安全：警惕网络诈骗风险；切勿在网上泄露个人信息；对可疑的链接和邮件不要轻易点开；如果在网上遇到让你感到不适的人或事，要及时告诉父母或老师。
Travel safety: Be well prepared for travel. Take some medicine with you. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Bring enough water and food such as bread and biscuits because these don't go bad quickly.
出行安全：出行前做好充分准备；随身携带常用药品；穿戴舒适的鞋袜衣物；备好足量的饮用水和不易变质的食物，如面包、饼干等。
Food safety: Wash fruits carefully before you eat them. Check the dates on the packages of your snacks. If the food looks or smells bad, don't eat it.
食品安全：水果洗净后再食用；仔细查看零食包装上的保质期；食物若出现外观或气味异常，切勿食用。
Fire safety: Practise following a fire escape plan every term. When there is a fire, stay calm and follow the teacher's instructions. Leave the classroom quickly and use a piece of wet cloth to cover your mouth and nose so that you don't breathe in smoke.
消防安全：每学期都要演练火灾逃生预案；发生火灾时，保持冷静，听从老师指挥；迅速撤离教室，用湿毛巾捂住口鼻，避免吸入浓烟。
