[要点解读]color一词集可以作为名词“颜色”使用,也可以作为动词“为……上色,给……染色”用。
(1)名词:What color is your bike? 你的自行车是什么颜色的?

[要点解读] 当你不知道某物是什么时,可用此法询问。this和that均为指示代词,this指离身边较近的一个东西(或人),that指离身边较远的一个东西(或人)。当this或that指代的人或物被再次提起时,习惯上用it代替。当你问单个物体时,用this或that即可,但当东西较多,或为复数时应用these(这些)或those(那些)。these是this的复数,those是that的复数。相应的被再次提起时it变为它的复数they。

[要点解读](1)“What color +be+主语?”这一句型是用来提问颜色的特殊疑问句。疑问词what修饰color,所以两个词要共同放于句首,不可以分开,回答是要用具体的标“颜色”的词。Be动词要根据后面的主语而定,主语是单数用is,是复数用are。
(2)表示颜色的形容词单独作表语时,前面不能用冠词a或an,但如果其后面跟了一个可数名词时,则前面必须用a或an。如:It’s white. 它是白色的。It’s a green bird.它是只绿色的鸟。常见颜色的词有:red红色,yellow黄色,green绿色,blue蓝色,black黑色,white白色,orange橙色,purple紫色,dark blue深蓝色

[要点解读]
what多用来引导疑问句和感叹句。
what作为疑问代词的用法:
(1)问“名字” What is your name? 你的名字叫什么?
(2)问“职业” What are you? / What do you do? / What is your job? 你是干什么的?
(3)问“什么”“是什么”“做什么” What’s this? 这是什么?What is he doing? 他在做什么?
(4)问“程度,多少” What do you pay for the sunglasses? 这副眼镜你付了多少钱?
2、what作为疑问形容词的用法:
(1)问“星期”或“日子”What day is today? 今天星期几?
(2)问“颜色” What color is this apple? 这个苹果是什么颜色的?
(3)问“尺寸”等 What size? 什么尺寸?What news? 什么消息? What books? 什么书?What kind of fruits? 什么样的水果?
(4)what用于感叹句 What a good student he is! 它是一个多么好的学生啊!

1. Status and Function
The language goals of Starter Unit 3 are letters S-Z and Identify colours. At the same time the teacher must tell students to pay attention to pronunciation of letters A,E,I,O,U. Such topic is related to students’ daily life,so it is helpful to raise students’ learning interest.

1. 食指和中指伸张开表示“胜利”之来历。
对高举右手或双手伸出张开食指和中指这一手势,中国人习惯是指数字“2”,英美则指“胜利”。因食指和中指伸张开构成V字形,表示Victory。这一姿势首创于第二次世界大战期间,同盟国用这一手势表示相互致敬、勉励和战胜法西斯的决心和信心。
2. 含有全部26个字母的最短英文句子。
打字机行的工作人员在检查新打字机的英文字母字迹是否清晰时,常在打字机上打出下列的句子:The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. (那只敏捷的棕色狐狸纵身跃过那条懒狗。)为什么他要打出这样的句子?那是因为这个短短的句子包括从a到z的全部26个英文字母。半个世纪以来,打字机行一直沿用这个句子作为检查打字机字迹是否清晰的方法。据说,多年来曾有不少人费尽脑汁想编写出也含有a到z却比它更短的句子,但始终没有成功。
3. 英语中很多表达法与颜色有关,但不能望文生义。
(1)黑色不黑。black sheep(败类);black dog(沮丧);black tea(红茶);black coffee(未加糖或奶的浓咖啡)。
(2)白色不白。 white nights(不眠之夜);white room(无菌室);white lie(没有恶意的谎言);white elephant(无用之物)。
(3)黄色不黄。yellow dog(懦夫);yellow boy指“金币”而不是“黄色小孩子”。yellow book指法国等政府或议会发表的报告书,并非是“黄色书刊”。
(4)蓝色不蓝。blue moon(千载难逢之机);blue blood指的是“贵族血统”。
(5)绿色不绿。green hand指的是“新手”。
