(共15小题;
每小题2分,

阅读下面短文,

选出最佳选项,
并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
Gene
technolo
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )gy
is
a
kind
of
science
focusing
on
the
research
of
human
genes.
It
is
also
called
biological
engineering,
which
is
drawing
more
and
more
attention
now.
Sometimes
it’s
a
hot
topic
discussed
by
people.
The
greatest
thing
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )that
gene
technology
can
do
is
to
cure
serious
diseases
that
doctors
at
present
can
almost
do
nothing
with,
such
as
cancer
and
heart
disease.
Every
year,
millions
of
people
are
murdered
by
these
two
killers.
And
to
date,
doctors
have
not
found
an
effective
way
to
cure
them.
But
if
the
gene
technology
is
applied,
not
only
can
these
two
diseases
be
cured
completely,
but
also
the
great
amount
of
money
people
spend
on
curing
their
diseases
can
be
saved,
therefore
it
benefits
the
economy
as
well.
In
addition,
human
life
span
ban
be
prolonged.
Gene
technology
c
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )an
help
people
to
give
birth
to
more
healthy
and
clever
children.
Some
families,
with
the
English
royal
family
being
a
good
example,
have
hereditary (遗传的)diseases.
This
means
their
children
will
for
sure
have
the
family
disease,
which
is
a
great
trouble
for
these
families.
In
the
past,
doctors
could
do
nothing
about
hereditary
diseases.
But
gene
technology
can
solve
this
problem
perfectly.
Scientists
just
need
to
find
the
wrong
gene
and
correct
it,
and
a
healthy
child
will
be
born.
Some
people
are
w
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )orrying
that
the
gene
research
can
be
used
to
produce
human
beings
in
large
quantities.
In
the
past
few
years,
scientists
have
succeeded
in
cloning
a
sheep,
therefore
these
people
predict
that
human
babies
would
soon
be
cloned.
But
I
believed
cloned
babies
will
not
come
out
in
large
quantities,
for
most
couples
in
the
world
can
have
their
babies
in
very
normal
way.
Of
course,
the
governments
must
take
care
to
control
gene
technology.
21.
What
does
“these
two
killers”
in
the
second
paragraph
refer
to
A.
Hereditary
diseases
and
cancer.
B.
The
two
murderers
who
killed
the
cloned
baby.
C.
The
two
diseases
of
cancer
and
heart
disease.
D.
Gene
technology
and
another
treatment
of
the
two
diseases.
22.
What’s
the
main
idea
of
the
third
paragraph
A.
Gene
technology
can
help
people
to
give
birth
to
a
baby.
B.
Gene
technology
can
be
used
to
clone
human
babies.
C.
Gene
technology
can
be
used
to
treat
hereditary
diseases.
D.
Gene
technology
c

all
the
problems
of
the
English
royal
family.
23.
In
what
w

can
gene
technology

to
treat
hereditary

A.
Using
gene

human
babies
can
be
cloned.

Mom
wanted
only
o
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ne
thing
for
her
birthday.
“Can
you
find
me
another
copy
of
this
song ”
she
asked,
and
handed
me
a
worn-out
cassette
tape.
I
knew
exactly
what
was
recorded
on
it:
My
Redeemer(救世主).
I
heard
the
song
played
at
least
a
thousand
times
while
growing
up.
After
so
many
years,
the
cassette
tape
was
too
worn
out
to
be
used.
I
promised
her
I
would
find
a
replacement.
My
Redeemer
became
Mom’s
favorite
song
after
my
younger
brother
Tim
was
killed
by
a
drunk
driver
in
1973.
The
only
thing
that
helped
her
calm
down
was
the
soulful
sound
of
My
Redeemer
from
the
local
radio
station.
We
recorded
it
on
a
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )cassette
tape
so
she
could
listen
to
it
any
time
she
wanted
but
none
of
us
knew
who
the
soloist(独唱者)
was.
These
days,
I
thought
the
song
would
be
easy
to
find
out.
I
went
home
and
searched
the
Internet.
Several
songs
with
that
title
popped
up,
but
none
of
them
was
the
one
Mom
loved.
I
got
frustrated.
Mom’s
birthday
drew
near
and
then
one
day,
I
was
driving
home,
listening
to
our
local
radio
station.
A
familiar
tune
came
on.
It
was
My
Redeemer!
As
soon
as
I
could,
I
phoned
the
station.
I
got
a
line
on
the
soloist,
who
was
called
Alan
Parks.
I
typed
his
name
into
Google
and
found
his
home
number
in
South
Carolina.
Minutes
later,
I
was
telling
him
how
much
his
recording
meant
to
Mom.
He
offered
to
ship
two
CDs
out
to
me
personally.
I
gave
him
my
address.
“Red
Lion,
Pennsyl
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )vania ”
he
said.
“Do
you
know
the
Logans ”
“They
are
our
neighbors!”
“I’ve
been
friends
with
them
for
25
years,”
Alan
said.
“They’ll
be
at
my
concert
at
York
Gospel
Chapel
on
April
17th.
Would
you
and
your
mom
come
too ”
We
sure
would.
Mom
was
excited
to
hear
Alan
sing
My
Redeemer
to
her,
live
in
concert—on
the
evening
of
her
87th
birthday.

thing
that
the
author’s
brother
left
her.

in
the
same
neighborhood.

happened
to
get

I
was
in
my

third
year
of
teaching
writing
at
Ralph
High
School
in
New
York,
when
one
of
my
students,15-year-old
Mikey,gave
me
a
note
from
his
mother.It
explained
his
absence
from
class
the
day
before:
“Dear
Mr.
McCor

grandmother,who
is
eighty
years
of
age,fell
down
the
stairs
from
too
much
coffee
and
I
kept
Mikey
at
home
to
take
care
of
her
and
his
baby
sister
so
I
couldn’t
go
to
my
job.
Please
excuse
Mikey
and
he’ll
do
his
best
in
the
future.P.S.His
grandmother
is
OK.”
I
had
seen
Mike
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )y
writing
the
note
at
his
desk.I
said
nothing.Most
parental-excuse
note,
I
received
were
penned
by
my
students.The
writers
of
those
notes
didn’t
realize
that
honest
excuse
notes
were
usually
dull:
“Peter
was
late
because
the
alarm
clock
didn’t
go
off.”
The
students
alw
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ays
said
it
was
hard
putting
200
words
together
on
any
subject,
but
when
they
produced
excuse
notes,
they
were
excellent.So
I
decided
to
give
the
first
class
to
study
the
art
of
the
excuse
note.
“Today
I’d
like
yo

to
write
‘An
Excuse
Note
from
Adam
to
God’
or
‘An
Excuse
Note
from
Eve
to
God’.”Heads
went
down.Pens
raced
across
paper.They
had
to
be
asked
to
go
to
lunch
by
their
friends.
The
next
day
e
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )veryone
had
excuse
notes.Heated
discussions
followed.But
suddenly
I
saw
the
headmaster
at
the
door.He
entered
the
classroom
and
walked
up
and
down,looking
at
papers,and
then
said.“I’d
like
you
to
see
me
in
my
office.”My
heart
sank.
When
I
stepped
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )into
his
office,he
came
to
shake
my
hand
and
said,“I
just
want
to
tell
you
that
lesson,
that
ask,
was
great.Those
kids
were
writing
on
the
college
level.Thank
you.”

The

a

coffee
might
simply
be

the

mug
(杯).
The
color
of
a
coffee
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )
mug
can
have
something
to
do
with
the
way
coffee
tastes,
according
to
a
recent
study,
which
was
conducted
in
Australia
and
tested
the
influence
that
three
different
colored
mugs
—
one
white,
one
blue
and
one
clear
glass,
had
on
the
perception
(感知)
of
different
tastes.
The
researchers
served
18
participants
the
same
cup
of
coffee,
in
one
of
the
three
similarly
shaped
but
differently
colored
containers,
and
then
asked
them
to
rate
their
sweetness,
smell,
bitterness,
quality
and
acceptability.
It
turns
out
specif
( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ically
that
the
white
mug
was
associated
with
a
more
intense
(浓)
or
bitter
tasting
cup
of
coffee,
and
the
clear
glass
mug
was
not.
The
blue
mug,
meanwhile,
proved
to
be
"kind
of
an
in-between."
The
opposite
was
true
for
perceived
sweetness
—
participants
noted
less
sweetness
when
drinking
from
the
white
mug
than
they
did
when
drinking
from
both
the
blue
and
clear
glass
mugs.
Research

this
year
shows
that
the
color
of
a
plate
had
a
clear
effect
on
taste
intensity
and
sweetness.
And
the
color
red
specifically
has
even
been
associated
with
lower
levels
of
consumption.
A

a

than
it
does
against
a
black
one.
And
there
are
associations
with
that
redness
that
in
turn
can
affect
taste,
Spence
explains.
"Red
might
indicate
heightened
sweetness,
because
red
fruits
tend
to
be
riper
than
green
fruits,"
he
said.
And
that
indication
can
be
enough
to
cause
a
large
difference
in
taste.
In
the
case
of
coffee,
specifically,
the
researchers
believe
that
the
color
brown
might
be
something
people
associate
with
bitterness.
"The
white
mug
may
have
influenced
the
perceived
brownness
of
the
coffee
and
this,
in
turn,
may
have
influenced
the
perceived
intensity
and
sweetness
of
the
coffee,"
the
researchers
wrote.
That
would
help
explain
why
clear
coffee
mugs
tended
to
have
the
opposite
effect.
