The Spring Festival Gala (春晚) is the most popular TV show during the Chinese New Year. This year, a dance program named Joy on the Branches became a real hit.

Right in the middle of the stage stood a huge pine branch (松枝) that was 9.5 meters long and 4.5 meters high. The details of the pine branch were so vivid that it looked as if it had just been picked from a forest.
The dancers then got onto the stage slowly. They were all dressed in clothes that included traditional Chinese colors. Their movements were quite beautiful, flowing smoothly like a stream (小溪). They mainly used their body language to show the lovable expressions and lively actions of magpies (喜鹊), as if they had truly turned into these lovely birds.
A famous ancient Chinese painting had a great influence on this program. The creative team managed to express the beauty of classical art through modern dance by mixing wonderful stage effects with excellent dance.

In a quiet corner of a busy city street in Brooklyn, New York, there is a special fridge. It’s not in a kitchen or a supermarket. It stands on the sidewalk, open for everyone 24 hours a day. It is a “community fridge,” and its rule is simple: “Take what you need, leave what you can.”
The idea started during a difficult time when many people lost their jobs and had trouble buying enough food. A group of neighbors decided to do something to help. They put a second-hand fridge outside and filled it with fresh vegetables, fruit, milk, and bread. Anyone who was hungry could come and take food for free, without having to ask or feel shy.
Local restaurants, bakeries, and families also help. Instead of throwing away good food that they don’t sell or eat, they put it in the community fridge. This not only helps people who are in need but also reduces food waste. It’s a win-win idea.
The community fridge has done more than just provide food. It has brought the community closer. People meet each other at the fridge. Some come to give food, others come to take it. They stop and talk, sharing stories and smiles. A volunteer (志愿者) said, “It’s not just about food. It’s about being good neighbors and taking care of each other.” The project has been so successful that hundreds of similar community fridges have appeared in cities all over the world.

Have you ever thought about traveling to the U.K. or maybe studying there If your answer is yes, then you should learn a thing or two about British manners.
People in the U.K. like to over-apologize (过度道歉). For example, someone who has booked a seat on a train may find another person sitting in it. Who do you think will say sorry Well, you are highly likely to hear the seat owner say, “I’m so sorry, but you appear to be sitting in my seat.”
British people like receiving apologies as well as giving them. If you have upset someone, it is important to offer him or her an apology. If someone has offered you an apology, you should accept it. You can say “It’s okay.” or “Don’t worry about it.”
In addition to “sorry”, “please” and “thank you” are also quite common in British speech. When you are given the change in a store, for example, you should thank the cashier (收银员). If you are not saying “please” or “thank you” when you should, you may be told to “mind your p’s and q’s”.
British people often find it embarrassing (令人尴尬的) to discuss money. Sometimes, talking about how much something costs is considered rude. It is especially rude if you use your phone when eating at the dinner table. In the U.K., dinner time is a time for talking with family or friends.
8.What should you say if another person takes your seat in the U.K.
A.Give back my seat now. B.Please don’t sit in my seat.

46.例文:
Last week, our school held a practical activity about how to build a green school.
The purpose of it is to raise students’ awareness of environmental protection. As a student, I took several actions. First, I designed eye-catching posters that explained the importance and methods of separating waste and I put them up on the school’s noticeboard. Also, I organized a speech to explain why recycling matters and how to recycle. Students actively joined, asked questions and shared ideas.
Through this experience, I realized it’s our duty to keep the environment clean. I believe if everyone pays attention to our environmental protection, our school will be more beautiful and comfortable to live in. Let’s work together for a greener future!
