Passage
In January 2026, two important events influenced the world’s economy: the new trade cooperation between China and Canada, and the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. These events showed how countries can work together for mutual benefits and call for global unity in uncertain times.
From January 14 to 17, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited China. It was the first official visit by a Canadian prime minister in eight years. During the visit, the two countries signed the China-Canada Economic and Trade Cooperation Roadmap. This important document raised the level of their economic and trade committee from vice-ministerial to ministerial. The plan included 28 cooperation projects in 8 key areas, such as food safety, green trade, manufacturing, and small businesses. A key part of the deal was solving some trade problems: Canada said it would allow 49,000 Chinese electric cars (EVs) to enter its market every year with a low tariff of 6.1%, instead of the old 100% high tax. In return, China promised to adjust anti-dumping rules on Canadian canola seeds and remove unfair limits on some farm and sea products. Trade data showed that from January to November 2025, trade between China and Canada reached 588.62 billion yuan. China sold 314.75 billion yuan of goods to Canada, and bought 273.87 billion yuan of goods from it.
At the same time, the 2026 WEF Annual Meeting was held in Davos with the theme "The Spirit of Dialogue." Leaders, business people, and scholars from around the world gathered there. The forum talked about big economic challenges. The WEF’s Global Risks Report 2026 said that geoeconomic rivalry (competition between countries related to geography and economy) is the top risk. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) updated its World Economic Outlook and warned that trade tensions and political conflicts could slow down global growth. However, China’s economy did well: data from China’s National Bureau of Statistics showed that its GDP (total value of goods and services produced) passed 140 trillion yuan in 2025, growing by 5.0% compared to the previous year. It is expected to contribute about 30% to global economic growth in 2026. WEF President B rge Brende said, "China's economy is strong and can recover quickly. It is still the biggest contributor to global growth."
Both events stressed the importance of multilateralism (countries working together) and practical cooperation. The China-Canada plan supported the global trading system based on rules, while the WEF called for more communication instead of zero-sum thinking (the idea that one country’s gain is another’s loss). As the world’s economies face changes, such cooperation gives useful experience for building a fairer and more stable world economy.

答案
Answer: B
解析:根据文章第二段第二句“This important document raised the level of their economic and trade committee from vice-ministerial to ministerial”,可知该文件的核心作用是提升双边经贸委员会级别。
Answer: B
解析:由第二段“Canada said it would allow 49,000 Chinese electric cars... with a low tariff of 6.1%”可知,加拿大通过设定配额内低关税解决贸易争端。
Answer: C
解析:第三段明确提到“the IMF... warned that trade tensions and political conflicts could slow down global growth”,C选项与原文一致。
Answer: B
解析:根据上下文“China’s economy did well... growing by 5.0%... biggest contributor”,可推断“resilience”表示经济的“韧性”(即使面临挑战仍能稳定增长)。A(脆弱性)、C(依赖性)、D(复杂性)均与语境相反。
Answer: C
解析:文章开篇点明两大核心事件(中加贸易合作、达沃斯论坛),结尾总结“such cooperation gives useful experience for building a fairer and more stable world economy”,核心主旨是“两大事件体现全球促进经济稳定的努力”。A、B选项仅涉及单一事件,属于“片面主旨”;D选项与原文“stressed the importance of multilateralism”矛盾。
