Something didn’t feel right (感觉有些事情不对劲儿).“Why would
anyone leave their kids unattended on the shore?”Mary thought. She
grabbed the kids’ hands and walked them to their home, across from her
own house. As Mary opened the door, she found the young mother lying
unconscious on the kitchen floor
We finally pulled into my neighbourhood which was full of fire trucks,
police cars, and black ash (到处都是消防车、警车和黑灰).We
jumped out of the car and started running to the father and I screamed at the
top of my voice (扯着嗓子大叫),“Anna is in the house!”We
attempted to enter the house but the police officers grabbed our arms.
Tenderly, I picked the girl up, carrying her through the crowd as I
patiently kept asking her to recall
反复让她回忆)where her parents had been.I carried her to the fence,
constantly asking the passers-by (不断询问路人),“Is this your
child?” Though numerous passers-by said no, I didn’t give up.
Depressed and hopeless, Sarah ran across the hall to seek help (跑过大
厅寻求帮助) from their teacher Katie. After knowing what had happened
to Sarah, Katie felt sorry. She went to Sarah’s dormitory and had a long
conversation with (与…… Katie
shared her experience in getting on well with her roommate.
1. Through the experience, I learned that helping others in need makes our day
as well.Just as the saying goes,“Roses given, fragrance in hand (赠
2. Finally, through the crowd of people, I recognized a face,
“Mommy!” I cried out and dashed toward her. Filled with a mixture of
excitement and relief (充满了兴奋和宽慰), I threw myself into
Mom’s arms and hugged her tightly, as if never letting go of her.
3. A small act/gesture of kindness will perhaps melt/cure one’s loneliness
