Claire Allen had her own house, a great job she enjoyed and a loving family but something
was missing. For years she felt she’ d simply lacked(缺乏) a focus, a drive. Approaching fiftly,
each year felt the same. She needed to shake things up.
Then, one day. Claire had a sudden idea after learning about the feats(壮举) of others. “I
mentioned to friends that I was looking for a challenge.and then came across Elise Downing, who
ra n the UK's coat in ten months, and a guy called Christian Lewis, who did it over a number of
years. " Claire says. " It seemed like fate (命运)— — and it made sense. "
Claire decided then that she, too, would walk the UK's coast. And she set off on her journey
last summer. The journey did present a few challenges. For Claire, the struggles seemed small
compared to what she got. “Having to find a place to sleep made me choose a cause to raise
money for Shelter and Only A Pavement Away, two amazing homeless charities. When it was
cold and wet, I could find shelter in free and warm libraries or railway waiting rooms, providing a
safe space for a single woman. I'd meet homeless people there and talk to them about their
lives.and then buy them a cup of tea or something to eat. "
Finally, on Sunday, July 28 - after over 4,000 miles, 50 weeks, and the UK's three highest
places —— she was back at John O' Greats where she'd started. Claire says she is now sure that
she will do another big mission (任务) soon, but more hopes that her story can inspire others to
step out of their comfort zone(舒适区). “Hopefully I' ve made the world a
better place and inspired at least one other person to head out and take on a big challenge, to
make them feel alive again. " Claire adds.

A new, wheelchair-accessible“Word Wagon” is set to bring theInternet, outreach (外展服
务), DVDs, audiobooks and a collection of physical books to Wasco County's more remote(偏远
的) and underserved communities.
The Dalles Public Library recently celebrated the addition of a huge bus. Costing $220,000,
it's the biggest thing librarians can drive without a commercial license (执照). The inside can hold
about 1,000 books, anInternet router and other library materials. This“state-of-the-art” Mercedes
bus is supposed to run up to half a million miles in its lifetime — the only further cost is
maintenance(维护).
Outreach librarian Kristen Dyer plans to drive many of those miles, with 13 stops a month in
communities underserved by libraries. Each stop will last at least two hours, in the afternoon or
evening. The program kicks off in November.
If remote users place a hold on any of Oregon's Sage Library System materials by a
computer, Dyer can deliver the goods. If people don't haveInternet service, Dyer can help them
access the online collection of ebooks,Library2Go, on the Word Wagon's Internet. There, people
can place holds and download their books for offline reading between the Word Wagon's visits.
She' ll bring library card applications and program info for people who can't drive long distances
to the libraries of Sage System.
Asked why this project is significant to her, Dyer said, “I' ve lived in the countryside most
of my adult life, and I love the peace. But I do art and reading and writing and, having a library for
all of those things has been important as a human, as a parent and a kid. I think a well-educated
community is important for our survival.”
The outreach librarian always thought of herself as an introvert(内向的人). She said, “But
as far as outreach services go, I can't see myself doing anything else ... I love meeting people
where they are and providing services ... it's the most fun I' ve had, working.”
28. What does the project aim to do
A. Support local businesses and services.
B. Share library materials with the disabled.

B. It provides them with offline reading materials.
C. It offers free Internet at chosen library locations.
D. It gives them access to local libraries.
30. What does Kristen Dyer talk about in paragraph 5
A. The importance of the project.
B. The meaning of reading books.
C. The influence of a good community.
D. The reason why she wants to be a librarian.
31. What does Kristen Dyer enjoy most as an outreach librarian
A. Driving the“Word Wagon” around the county.

I recently had a parent say to me, “ChatGPT can produce a good essay(文章) on just about
any topic in 3.4 seconds. You' re not still teaching kids essay writing the old way, are you ” Good
question. As a high school teacher, I still ask my students to send me handwritten essays. Yes, it's
true:Al tools like ChatGPT and other large language models (LLMs) are great resources. But I still
like the“old way”.
If the“new way” creates more time for students’ other activities and less stress for students,
as an educator, I am interested in how I might encourage my students to use AI in acceptable ways
that support their academic(学术的) goals. A good example of this is using Grammarly while
writing an essay. But, if by“old way” that parent meant that I'm still asking students to write
without ChatGPT, even with a pencil and pi ete of paper, my answer is also yes. Studies suggest
that writing by hand promotes more complex (复杂 的) brain connections that are important in
understanding new information. In other words, the actual act of writing by hand can deepen the
understanding of whatever students are learning in their classes.
Sometimes, Al tools can“cheat”, leading to misinformation that many students might
ignore(忽视). It's important and necessary that students don't simply see these technologies as
“cool tools that know everything”and instead—— before they use them—— are taught by the
educators about their limitations.
As teachers get better at helping students learn how to use Al and students get better at using

it, there will certainly be reasons for them to do so for the sake of efficiency However,
remember the saying that“childhood goes so fast” It's true. There will be plenty of time for young
people—— after they' ve learned to think for themselves—— to adapt toAI's role in their futures.
While they' re young, let's not rush them.
32. What is the author's requirement for her students
A. Joining school activities. B. Writing essays by hand.
C. Knowing different LLMs. D. Learning a second language.
33. What can we learn about the author from the example given in paragraph 2
A. She supports the responsible use of AL
B. She values teacher-parent relationships.
C. She worries LLMs would replace teachers.
D. She promotes paperless teaching and learning.
34. What should educators make students realize according to the author
A. AI is not all-powerful. B. Learning efficiency matters.
C. Progress does not happen overnight.
D. LLMs can be great learning resources.
35. Which statement will the author probably agree with
A. Student years have a strong impact on students' future lives.
B. In education, whether old or new, what works is a good approach.
C. Educators should have confidence in the new generation of students.
D. Traditional teaching approaches still hold significance in the age of AI.

I stared curiously at the brown notebook my brother David had handed me. “It was Dad’s,”
he explained. Inside the notebook was some paper with Dad’s handwriting on it. Beneath the
title—Things I would like to do in my lifetime—was a list of 60 goals.
My heart sank when I saw he’d only checked off five. Dad had died in a car crash 13 years
earlier. He’d been hit by an absent-minded driver who’d run a red light. I was 25 then and had
never fully processed his death. I missed his incredible sense of humor and curiosity.
The bucket list (遗愿清单) gave me some inspiration: I’m going to finish his list, I decided.
Completing his bucket list seemed like the perfect way to celebrate his life.
The first of Dad’s goals I tackled was to “run 16 km straight”. A few kilometers into the 16
km course, my legs were heavy and I was exhausted. Then a voice said: Your life, your choices. It
felt like Dad was with me, reminding me it’d been my decision to do this. This pushed me to keep
going.
As I continued to achieve Dad’s goals, some made me doubt myself, especially scary ones
like skydiving. But it often felt like Dad was urging me on. Standing at the plane’s open door, I
was terrified. “Let go,” the voice urged. As I leapt into the sky, I felt a sense of freedom even
when I threw up mid-air! I was sure Dad would burst into laughter when seeing that happened!
“I survived!” I cried afterwards, thrilled. I jumped from a plane, and ticked off another item on
Dad’s bucket list.
The more of Dad’s goals I checked off, the more courageous and carefree I felt. My husband,
Steven, noticed my confidence boost. Now for the most challenging of Dad’s goals—drive a race
car.
注意:1. 续写词数应为 150 个左右;
I’d felt anxious behind the wheel ever since Dad’s death.

how many people are using their phones. A study shows that more than half people are
buried in their phones, whether you’re on public transport, in a café or simply walking
down the street. Has it gone too far Do we spend too much time on our mobiles and
not enough time talking to people “in real life” For example, I recently visited
London and travelled by subway while I was there. Apart from the people asleep, almost
everybody else was on their phones. Of course, being underground is difficult to get any
signal, which makes texting or using the internet impossible, but there are still lots of
things people can use their phones for, such as playing games, reading articles and
listening to music. I am sure that as soon as they got out of the train station they would
start texting or calling or checking their emails.

W: I'm interested in finding a two-bedroom flat. How much does it cost in these areas

W: What are the advantages and disadvantages of these areas
M: There are lots of parks all around the eastern part of the city. In the south, you've
got a beach. And there are many factories alongside the beach. The northern area is
made up of wetlands. It's beautiful in one way, but it attracts many insects, so few

Claire Allen had her own house, a great job she enjoyed and a loving family but something was missing.

Costing $220,000, it's the biggest thing librarians can drive without a commercial license (执照).
She said, “But as far as outreach services go, I can't see myself doing anything else ... I love meeting people
where they are and providing services ... it's the most fun I' ve had, working.”
28. What does the project aim to do
A. Support local businesses and services.
B. Share library materials with the disabled.
C. Call on people to give out their unwanted books.
D. Bring library services to underdeveloped communities.
29. In which way does the project help people without Internet access
A. It allows them to focus on reading paper books.
B. Giving the disabled a hand at different stops.
C. Communicating with well-educated people.
D. Meeting people and giving them services.

I recently had a parent say to me, “ChatGPT can produce a good essay(文章) on just about any topic in 3.4 seconds.
Sometimes, Al tools can“cheat”, leading to misinformation that many students might ignore(忽视).
32. What is the author's requirement for her students A. Joining school activities. B. Writing essays by hand.
C. Knowing different LLMs. D. Learning a second language.
33. What can we learn about the author from the example given in paragraph 2
A. She supports the responsible use of AL B.

English as a second language at
根据 Introduction to computers 和 Children's yoga 两部分中的 Location: Carver
Introduction to computers 的讲师
是 Marcel Martinez Alvarez,Children's yoga 的讲师是 Lissette Cantu,讲师不一样,故 A 项错
Children's

shake sth. up 彻底调整。
I mentioned to friends that I was looking for a
challenge ... and it made sense 可知,Claire 在了解到 Elise Downing 和 Christian Lewis 的非凡事

A new, wheelchair - accessible “Word Wagon” is set to bring the Internet, outreach, DVDs, audiobooks and a collection of physical books to Wasco County's more
remote and underserved communities
If people don't have Internet service, Dyer can help them access the online collection of ebooks, Library2Go, on the Word Wagon's Internet. There, people can place holds and download their books for offline reading between the Word Wagon's visits
30. A。
Asked why this project is significant to her 以及 Kristen Dyer
的话,尤其是 having a library for all of those things has been important as a human, as a parent
and a kid. I think a well - educated community is important for our survival Kristen
But as far as outreach services go, I can't see myself doing anything else ... I love meeting people where they are and providing services ... it's the most fun
I've had, working

As a high school teacher, I still ask my students to send me
33. A。
I am interested in how I might encourage my students to use AI in
acceptable ways that support their academic goals(我感兴趣的是如何鼓励我的学生以可接受
A good example of this is using Grammarly
34. A。
It's important and necessary that students don't simply see
these technologies as “cool tools that know everything” and instead — before they use them
— are taught by the educators about their limitations(重要且必要的是,学生们不应仅仅将

Studies suggest that writing by hand promotes more complex brain connections that are important in understanding new information. In other words, the actual act of writing by hand can deepen the understanding of whatever students are learning in their
There
will be plenty of time for young people — after they've learned to think for themselves — to
adapt to AI's role in their futures. While they're young, let's not rush them 可知,作者认为手写

短语 as a general
故填 a。
故填 using。
根据后文 such as cutting and threshing 可知,此处表示不止一个功能,名词应用复数形
故填 to prevent。
语态,主语是 the traditional drying method,be 动词使用 is。故填 is preferred。
故填 where。
from… 故填 from。

An Interesting Summer Vacation Story
An Interesting Summer Vacation Story
This summer vacation, my cousin and I worked out a plan for a backyard camping adventure.
We set up a small tent, hung up colored lights and prepared plenty of snacks, excited for a night
of fun.
As night fell, we were deep into telling scary stories when an abrupt sound from outside the
tent disturbed the calm. My cousin’s eyes widened, and I felt my heart pounding wildly. “What if
it’s a wild beast ” I whispered, frozen with fear. Slowly, we peeked out — only to find my dog
Max, wagging his tail, trying to dig under the tent to get to us. Laughter burst out as we let him in.
This “scary” backyard camping night, thanks to Max, became the most memorable summer story.
We still joke about how our brave dog turned fear into fun.

he explained.

The bucket list (遗愿清单) gave me some inspiration: I’m going to finish his list, I pleting his bucket list seemed like the perfect way to celebrate his life.
Now for the most challenging of Dad’s goals—drive a race
car.

One possible vision:
I'd felt anxious behind the wheel ever since Dad's death. But I knew I had to do this. I was
shaking in panic as I got into the driver's seat, and then I realized Dad would have loved this,
pressing the accelerator. I lowered my head, grabbed the wheel tightly and whispered, "Dad, let's
go for a ride!" At first, so tense was I that my palms were sweating. But my emotions ran high as I
sped up. With that feeling, I felt completely safe driving for the first time in these years. After that,
I continued to achieve a series of Dad's goals.
The final item to check off was to "record five songs". Dad loved music, so I picked songs I
had fond memories of him singing to me when I was little. I recorded the songs with my husband's

help. "Good night, sleep tight," I sang. The instant I finished the last tune, tears of relief welled up
in my eyes. After completing Dad's bucket list, I felt a great sense of peace. Dad always knew how
to have fun and make the most of life. And now, thanks to him, I've learnt to do the same. Tears
ran down my cheeks as I realized that in the process, I had not only honored Dad's memory but
also discovered a part of myself that I never knew existed.
