B
Twenty years ago, I received an offer for a minor role in a small independent film called Scorpion Spring. I got
the script(剧本) and I didn't read one page of it, not a word. Why Because I wanted to regain my creativity and get
myself away from all the theoretical(理论的) tension I'd been carrying since those acting classes in university. I
wanted to go back to how I acted when I first started, when I played this guy named David Wenderson, and reading
just one line of the script completely unlocked the character for me. I wanted to be back when I was a natural, a
free actor.
Two weeks later, I was on the set for the film. I knew my man. I was a cruel drug dealer from Mexico, willing
to kill for money. I even looked the part: unshaven, greasy hair, black boots, leather jacket. Time to shoot the scene.
No problem. I arrived in character. I didn't introduce myself to the other actors because my man didn't care about
them and my man was going to kill them in this scene anyway. Just before we took our marks a production
assistant came up to me, “Some script, Mr. McConaughey ” I took it and just shoved it in my pocket without
looking at it. All the actors settled on to their marks and prepared for “action”. Well, I guess I lost my nerve a little
bit because I decided it would be a good idea, right at this moment, just before we rolled the camera, to have a
quick glance at the scene and the dialogue. My thinking at the time If it was written well, I would immediately
remember the written lines because obviously that's what my man would say, and if it's not written well, then, I
would just be my man and do and say what he would do and say anyway. I unfolded the script—— my heart was
racing and my mind went blank. One page. Two pages. Three pages ... all the lines ... In German!
That director never cooperated(合 作 ) with me again even after I was awarded an Oscar in Hollywood.
Knowing your man doesn't mean knowing German.
24. How did the author play the character David Wenderson
A. By taking advantage of his creativity.
B. By imitating the best man in Hollywood.
C. By learning acting theories in university.
D. By following the instructions of the director.
25. Why did the author have no interaction with other actors on the set
A. He was not welcome on the set.
B. He didn't care about them at all.
C. He didn't know them on his arrival.
D. He did what the character would do.
26. What can we learn about the author
A. He has a good mastery of German.
B. He made great achievements in acting.
C. He played a leading role in Scorpion Spring.
D. He became famous for playing David Wenderson.
27. Which statement was the author most likely to agree with
A. Acting theories matter most.
B. An actor needs strong mental strength.
C. A minor role is less worth great efforts.
D. Preparation speaks louder than creativity.
C
“Anxiety.” The very word invites discomfort. Its effects— shortness of breath, pounding heart, muscle
tension— are outright upsetting. But, as a doctor, I find that we tend to miss out on many valuable opportunities
presented by this human emotion. In and of itself, anxiety is not deadly, nor is it a disease. Quite the opposite: it is a
sign of brain and sensory health. Once we accept that it is a normal, though uncomfortable, part of life, we can use
it to help us.
We all know working out at the gym is hard. By nature, a “good workout” is uncomfortable, since it involves
pushing our physical strength past what we can easily do. The sweet spot of exercise is always a somewhat
challenging experience. Similarly, if you want to be emotionally stronger, you need to face some tension. For
example, one effective treatment for fear is exposure therapy(疗法), which refers to gradually experiencing things
that make one anxious, reducing fear over time.
Humans are social creatures. When my patients learn to open up to their partners about their anxieties, they
almost always report a greater sense of emotional closeness. Also, as international relationship expert Sue Johnson
teaches, when we express our need for connection during challenging moments(e. g.“I'm having a hard time right
now and could really use your support”), it creates greater connection and turns our anxiety into love.
From time to time, we find ourselves at the end of our rope. Our responsibilities pile up, our resources break
down, and we feel uncomfortably anxious—— what we' re experiencing is called stress. Put simply, the
requirements placed upon us are far more than our available resources can meet, just like a set of scales(天平)
going out of balance. Focusing on work and pretending everything is OK only leads to disastrous results. Medical
treatment for stress may function for a while, but it tends to make things worse in the long run. The only solution
to dealing with stress is to do the maths to balance the scales.
28. What does the author say about anxiety
A. It reflects mental health.
B. It is an invitation to diseases.
C. It is a natural emotional expression.
D. It costs us many valuable chances.
29. What does the author want to explain by mentioning the “good workout”
A. The science behind emotional tension.
B. The importance of being physically strong.
C. The difficulty of building up emotional strength.
D. The necessity of facing tension for emotional growth.
30. What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. The key to closeness is partners’ support.
B. Sharing anxieties improves relationships.
C. Humans are defined by their social nature.
D. Expressing feelings helps keep us off anxieties.
31. According to the last paragraph, how can we deal with stress
A. Devote more energy to our work. B. Increase resources available to us.
C. Seek professional medical treatment. D. Master advanced mathematical
skills.
D
Many of us start exercising in the hope of losing unwanted pounds. Unquestionably, aiming to be more active
is a good thing. But if the main reason is to lose weight, your plan could very well come to nothing.
For starters, exercise is typically futile for weight loss. Take walking for example. A150-pound person who
walks for 30 minutes will burn, on average, around 140 calories. That’s equal to one can of soda—— not exactly a
great return on your investment of time and effort. It's much easier just to skip the soda.
When exercise is added to a diet, the results are equally unimpressive. Researchers found that a combination(
组合) of dieting and exercising produced no greater weight loss than dieting alone after six months. At 12 months,
the diet-and-exercise combination showed an advantage, but it was slight— about 4 pounds on average.
In studies where exercise has produced meaningful weight loss, participants burned at least 400 to 500 calories
during each workout on five or more days a week. To achieve that, a 150-pound person would need to walk at least
90 minutes or run 30 minutes each day. In short, the time spent exercising needs to go well beyond what most of us
are willing or able to do. And even if we manage to make that much effort, our bodies often make up for it by
increasing hunger and slowing down metabolism(新陈代谢), which over time limits how many pounds we lose.
When exercise fails to meet our weight-loss expectations, we often stop working out. Perhaps the biggest
problem with exercising to drop pounds is that it turns physical activity into punishment—a price we have to pay
for a slimmer body. How many times have you heard someone say “I' ll need to do extra exercise” after eating too
much We treat exercise as a form of self-punishment for being “bad”. In this case, we' re unlikely to keep doing it
for very long. The conclusion is that we' re more likely to treat exercise positively and actually do it when we focus
on our well-being rather than our weight.
32. What does the underlined word “futile” in paragraph 2 mean
A. Necessary. B. Basic. C. Fruitless. D. Painful.
33. How does the author view the results of dieting combined with exercise
A. Ineffective. B. Limited. C. Satisfactory. D.
Significant.
34. What might happen when a 150-pound person runs 30 minutes daily
A. He might eat more than usual. B. He will burn 500 calories a week.
C. He might have faster metabolism. D. He will lose weight very quickly.
35. What is the author's suggestion regarding exercise
A. Lowering our weight-loss expectations.
B. Exercising more after eating too much.
C. Sticking to our regular exercise routine.
D. Changing our attitude toward working out.
Regular exercise is a key part of achieving a healthy life. However, starting and sticking to a fitness routine
can be challenging. Here are some tips to help you make exercise a sustainable and enjoyable part of your life.
36
The best exercise is the one you will actually do. If you dislike running, don't force yourself to run. Explore
different activities until you find something you love. Whether it's dancing, swimming, hiking, or playing a team
sport, you are much more likely to stick with it if you have fun.
Set realistic goals
Starting with overly ambitious goals, like working out for two hours every day, can lead to burnout and
disappointment. 37 . For example, aim for a 20-minute walk three times a week. Achieving these small goals will
build your confidence and encourage you to do more.
Make it a habit
Consistency(长 期 坚 持 ) is more important than intensity. Try to schedule your workouts just like other
important plans. Many people find that exercising at the same time each day, such as in the morning, helps it
become an automatic part of their routine. 38 .
Listen to your body
It's normal to feel some muscle soreness after a workout, but sharp pain is a warning sign. 39 . Pushing
through pain can lead to serious injuries. Remember, rest days are just as important as workout days for muscle
recovery and overall health.
Stay hydrated(充足的水分摄入) and eat well
40 . Drinking enough water before, during, and after your workout is vital for better performance. It is also
important to combine exercise with a nutritious diet. Fueling your body with nutritious foods will give you the
energy and help you see better results.
A. Find an activity you enjoy
B. Find a professional instructor
C. Exercise and nutrition go hand in hand
D. Pay attention to the signs from your body
E. Instead, start with small and achievable goals
F. It is the consistency that turns exercise into a lasting habit
G. So, it is necessary to learn about the types of exercises in advance

My lecture today may not be able to do justice to all the work people have done behind the scenes. Just as the
poor passengers on the real Titanic saw the tip of the iceberg, 56 we see on the cinema screen is just the tip of the
huge iceberg of film-making. Hopefully,
next time you go to the cinema, you’ ll spare a thought for all those 57 (talent) people behind the scenes. They

Most people assume that regular exercise does wonders for the body and mind— but what exactly are 58 (it)

your heart and lungs must work harder. This extra effort makes them grow stronger over the long term. So far, it

Why Traditional Festivals Still Matter in Modern Life
Peter and Oliver were crazy about basketball. After school, you could always find them on the school
basketball court, sweat dripping from their foreheads as the sun dipped low.Peter had a natural talent for shooting
hoops(投球入篮), while Oliver struggled a little with his dribbling(运球). Though Oliver didn't play as well as
Peter, he was a warm-hearted child willing to accept others’ opinions. The basketball court often witnessed their
laughter mixed with the sound of the ball bouncing on the concrete.
A piece of exciting news came one day: the school would attend a youth basketball competition of the city.
All boys buzzed with excitement. Almost every one of them wanted to join the school team, and Peter and Oliver
wanted it more than anyone else. “Imagine us playing together on the court, representing our school!” Peter said
one day, grinning. Oliver’s eyes lit up. From that day on, they trained even harder. They woke up early to practice
before school, worked on passing drills during lunch breaks, and stayed late to perfect their shots. Oliver's skills got
better, but he still looked up to Peter.
The day the school team list was announced finally arrived. Everyone sat on the edge of their seats, waiting
for the headmaster, Mr. Lee, to speak. Peter sat up straight, confident he'd make it. But Oliver's hands were shaking,
and he stared at his desk, too nervous to look up. Peter gently nudged(轻推) him. “Don’ t worry,” he whispered.
“We’ re both getting in. I know it.”
Mr. Lee started reading the names: “Tom, Jake, Sam... Peter.” A big smile spread across Peter’ s face. He
turned to high-five Oliver, only to see Oliver’ s pale face. Mr. Lee finished the list, and Oliver's name wasn't there.
Oliver's shoulders slumped, and he stared out the window, blinking hard to hold back tears. After Mr. Lee left,
Oliver dashed out of the room.
注意:
1.续写词数应为 150 个左右;
Peter ran after Oliver, trying to comfort him.
The match day saw Oliver sitting beside the court, happily watching.

根据题干中的“a competition focusing on Mexican films”定位到原文“Riviera
Maya Film Festival”段落。根据原文“its biggest attraction—— the competition for Best Mexican Film,
‘Plataforma Mexicana’”可知, “Riviera Maya Film Festival”以“最佳墨西哥电影竞赛”为最大特色,这正
与题干中“a competition focusing on Mexican films”相对应, 故选 C。
Festival Sayulita“welcomes filmmakers from different countries”; Riviera Maya Film
Festival 深受“Directors throughout the globe”的喜爱;“Oaxaca Film Festival”提到“provides a platform
for... filmmakers”; Los Cabos International Film Festival 也“welcomes… filmmakers from around the
world”。
根据第一段中的“Because I wanted to regain my creativity and get myself
away from all the theoretical(理论的) tension I'd been carrying since those acting classes in university. I
wanted to go back to how I acted when I first started, when I played this guy named David Wenderson,
and reading just one line of the script completely unlocked the character for me.”
故选 A。
根据第二段中的“I didn't introduce myself to the other actors because my man
didn't care about them and my man was going to kill them in this scene anyway.”
根据最后一段中的“That director never cooperated(合作)with me again even
after I was awarded an Oscar in Hollywood.”
根据最后一段“That director never cooperated(合作) with me again even after
I was awarded an Oscar in Hollywood. Knowing your man doesn't mean knowing German.”
根据第一段中的“Quite the opposite: it is an sign of brain and sensory health.
Once we accept that it is a normal, though uncomfortable, part of life, we can use it to help us.”
根据第二段中的“By nature, a ‘good workout' is uncomfortable, since it
involves pushing our physical strength past what we can easily do.”和 “Similarly, if you want to be
emotionally stronger, you need to face some tension.”
根据第三段中的“When my patients learn to open up to their partners about
their anxieties, they almost always report a greater sense of emotional closeness.”和“when we express our
need for connection during challenging moments…it creates greater connection and turns our anxiety into
根据最后一段中的“Put simply, the requirements placed upon us are far more
than our available resources can meet, just like a set of scales(天平)going out of balance.”和“The only
solution to dealing with stress is to do the maths to balance the scales.”
exactly a great return on your investment of time and effort(你投入的时间和精力,并没有得到很好的
也就是 fruitless(无成效的),故选 C。
根据题干定位到原文第三段,由“… the results are equally unimpressive”以
及 “At 12 months… the combination showed an advantage, but it was slight—— about 4 pounds on
average.”
生有意义的减重效果,但紧接着提到“… our bodies often make up for it by increasing hunger…”,即
根据题干定位到原文最后一段,由“The conclusion is that we' re more likely
to treat exercise positively… when we focus on our well-being rather than our weight.”
(Change our attitude),故选 D。
36. A 第一段在总起后,紧接着详细说明:“The best exercise is the one you will actually do.”,并
A 项“Find an activity you enjoy”正好点明“选择你喜欢的运动”,
E 项“Instead, start with small and
38. F 本段主题是“Make it a habit”,重点反复强调“consistency(坚持)”比“intensity(强度)”更重要,
F 项“It is the consistency that
turns exercise into a lasting habit”不仅重复了关键词“consistency”,还直接点出“形成长期习惯”,与
D 项“Pay attention to
the signs from your body”正好承接前文的“warning sign”,并为后文“不要硬撑”作铺垫,逻辑完整、
C 项“Exercise and nutrition go hand in hand”起到总领全段的作用,能够自然引出后文关于饮

Why Traditional Festivals Still Matter in Modern Life
Dear friends,
Good morning. It is my great honor to stand here and share my understanding of why traditional
Chinese festivals still matter in modern life.
Last Spring Festival, my family gathered at my grandparents' home. Together we prepared dumplings,
watched the Spring Festival Gala and talked about the past year. In our fast-paced modern life, such
moments are precious, for they remind me of the warmth and connection that only family can bring.
To me, traditional festivals are not merely dates on the calendar, but living traditions to strengthen
family bonds and pass down our culture heritage. That is why these celebrations continue to hold a special
place in our lives.
Thank you for listening.

Peter ran after Oliver, trying to comfort him. He found Oliver alone near the empty court, head bowed.
“It's not fair, ” Oliver mumbled, kicking a pebble.Peter put a hand on his shoulder. “Remember what
Coach says A team needs more than players—— it needs heart.” He reminded Oliver how his
encouragement always lifted everyone's spirits during practice. “We still need you, Olly. Not on the court,
but with us.”Oliver wiped his eyes, recalling how he'd helped organize drills and fetched water. Slowly,he
nodded. “Maybe I can still be part of this, ” he whispered,a faint smile returning.
The match day saw Oliver sitting beside the court, happily watching. But he wasn't just a
spectator—— he had become the team's most energetic supporter. Before the game, he handed out towels
and water bottles, cheering each player by name.During time-outs, he rushed to offer quick
encouragement. When Peter scored a crucial three-pointer, Oliver's joyous shout echoed loudest. In the
final tense seconds, as their team defended a narrow lead, Oliver held his breath with the crowd, then
erupted in celebration at the winning buzzer. Afterward, the team gathered for a photo, pulling Oliver into
the center. “This victory is yours too! ” Peter declared, handing him the game ball. Oliver beamed,
realizing that true belonging wasn't about shining alone, but about helping others shine together.
Peter ran after Oliver, trying to comfort him. He found Oliver sitting on the cold steps,
his head buried in his arms and his basketball lying forgotten beside him. Peter patted him on the shoulder.
“Maybe we can talk to Coach. We need more bench players.” Oliver lifted his head. There was a sparkle
in his eye that could not be hidden. He rose to his feet and jumped into action. They trained until the sun
dipped low, their laughter echoing again across the empty court.
The match day saw Oliver sitting beside the court. happily watching. The
gym buzzed with cheers as Peter's team faced their opponents. Whenever Peter made a shot, he glanced
toward Oliver, who gave him a thumbs-up. During the time-out, Oliver sprang into action, handing out
towels or energy drinks. A player twisted his ankle, and Coach called for a replacement. To Oliver's
surprise, he was chosen. Heart pounding, Oliver stepped onto the court. He made the final assist that
sealed their victory. The two friends hugged, beaming with pride.
