But when we looked at the tomatoes, we were ___ because they
were so misshapen: not at all like the nice, round, shiny things you
get in a supermarket. And the wine was cloudy, in a funny old bottle
with no label(标签) on it. These can't be any good, we thought.
A
A. worried B. moved C. thrilled D. bored
根据空后的“because they were so misshapen: not at all like the
nice, round, shiny things you get in a supermarket”可知,这些西红柿
Well, the day before the Christmas break I was told to meet with the
guidance counsellor (辅导员). My mind raced with ___, thinking,
“What could I possibly have done wrong ” But when I got there,
there was a huge wrapped box on the table. The counsellor told me it
was for me and encouraged me to open it. It was full of art supplies:
coloured pencils, pens, etc.
A
A. worry B. disappointment
C. anger D. sympathy
[解析] 根据下文中的“What could I possibly have done wrong ”可知,
(worry)。
“Hold on: Consider failure as a stepping stone to success and
never give up. Stick to your plan,” she said. “ ___ others: Lift others
up on your journey. Success is sweeter when shared.” She previously
explained that “you do not need to have an amazing body to
exercise...the goal is to feel good, not look good.”
A
A. Help B. Consult C. Follow D. Forgive
根据空后的冒号可知,“____ others”与冒号后内容形成例证关系;
My childhood is quite ___ compared with hers. I am grateful that
I did not need to go through the hardships like she did. I've never
faced the problem of education.
C
A. difficult B. complex C. happy D. similar
根据空后的“compared with hers”以及“I did not need to go
through the hardships like she did”可知,作者的童年与她的童年不同,
与hardships是对立关系;通过“I've never faced the problem of
education.”
Now, months into his hospital stay, Puu is no longer just ___ up or
standing—he's wandering in the hallways on scooter boards, embarking
on scavenger hunts (寻宝游戏), and flashing his bright smile.
A
A. sitting B. turning C. growing D. walking
The sessions began with only three participants, but the number has
since ___. Some of the children had never handled an instrument
before, yet now they perform simple tunes after weeks of practice.
Moretti emphasized that beyond technique, he aims to increase the
children's confidence and joy.
A
A. multiplied B. stopped C. dropped D. existed
