students to follow their love and interests through extra-curricular life.
Young Entrepreneurs is a space for business-minded people to learn
and grow. As a group, we will develop and carry out business plans

wondered what it takes to make words come to life and shine on the
page? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then The Eclipse is
the place for you! Our goal is to produce The Eclipse, a monthly school
magazine that shows students’ creative writing.
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)
LLS is a medical organization for people with blood cancers (癌

hours but is a good way to help people who are fighting against cancer!
This club will discuss plans and visit hospitals to organize fun and

This club works to learn about wildlife protection to raise trout (a
fish that lives in rivers and lakes). We raise nearly 100 trout eggs
throughout the year and end with a trip in the spring to the Caney Fork
River to set the trout free in the river and spend some time learning about

When I was a freshman, my high school experience could be
described as struggling (努力) to make As and Bs. Going into Carnegie
Vanguard High School, everybody told me about how hard it would be
and the academic (学业的) struggles that I would go through. They
were quite right.
There’s a certain weight in your heart when you open up your grade
book to see that you got a 30 on a test. The truth is that grades do not
matter or define (给……下定义) you all that much. Try not to let your
grades influence your feelings too much. While getting a good grade as a
student is important, your academic record does not show whether or not
you will succeed in the future. Do your best to get good grades, but a
few bad ones aren’t the end of the world.
Some say the most important way to succeed is managing your time
well and the easiest way is to write things down. Carnegie gives you a full
calendar with a planner in it. At the start of freshman year, I used it
every day and wrote down each assignment (任务). However, I
quickly got tired of this and started trying to keep everything in my
head — that was a mistake. Shortly after, I realized that I couldn’t
remember all the assignments. Keeping a physical note makes planning
your tasks much easier.
Human Geography is probably one of my most challenging classes.
It’s not because of the teacher or the subject matter, but because of the
20 pages of reading you have every day. So, my advice is to read! The
main way we learn is by reading. It may be tiring and boring to read long
articles but it will benefit (使受益) you in the end.

(2025·山东五地市高一上联考)Lectures on happiness are
becoming increasingly popular in Harvard University.I went to one of
them, which left a lasting impression on me.While we were listening
with close attention, the speaker suddenly stopped and started a game,
giving each person a balloon. Each one was asked to write their name on it
using a pen. Then the 100 students from 25 schools were divided into two
groups.
Now the two groups were in different rooms with their balloons flying
in it.The first group of 50 students were asked to find the balloon with
their name on it within 5 minutes.Everyone was hurriedly searching for
their own name, pushing and running into each other, and there was
lots of noise. At the end of 5 minutes, none of them could find their own
balloon.
The second half, on the other hand, was asked to randomly (随

on it.Within minutes everyone had their own balloon.
This is exactly happening in our lives.Everyone is hurriedly looking
for happiness all around, not knowing where it is.Our happiness lies in
the happiness of other people.Give them their happiness, and you will
get your own happiness. And this is the purpose of human life.

(2025·沧州高一上联考)Sometimes parents wonder if they should
really give their children chores (家务活).After all, isn’t it the
parents’ responsibility to manage the household? And don’t children
need an opportunity to “just be children” for now because they have the
rest of their lives to worry about chores?
Most children have really busy schedules. They rush around from one
activity to another with little time to clean the house.Despite those
concerns, however, giving your children chores may be one of the most
important things you’ll ever do.
While giving your children chores can certainly take some of the
stress off you, that’s not the only reason you should expect your
children to do the chores.Studies show chores are good for
children.Research from a well-known 75-year Harvard study shows that
chores can shape children to be more likely to become happy, healthy
and independent adults.
Why are chores like sweeping the floor and clearing the table so
important to children’s happiness in life? One reason is that children
feel a sense of achievement when they do their chores. No matter whether
they’re making their beds or they’re sweeping the floor, helping out
around the house makes children feel capable.Doing chores also helps
children feel like they’re part of the team and learn
responsibility.Helping family members is good for them and it encourages
them to be good adults.
Children who do chores gain important life skills that will serve them
well throughout their lives.Life skills such as meal preparation, mowing
the lawn, or doing the laundry will be important after high school,
which helps your children live independently.

Dear Mike,
I’m thrilled to hear that you’re coming to our school as an
exchange student.A warm welcome awaits you here.I understand that it is
challenging to adapt to a new environment, so here are a few suggestions
that might help you settle in quickly.
First of all, it’s important to actively participate in classroom
activities, which will help you better understand and grasp the
knowledge. And don’t be afraid to reach out to your teachers and
classmates for help if you need it.Joining a club is also a great way,
because you will meet new friends and become more involved in the
school community.
I wish you all the best during your stay here.Looking forward to your
arrival!
Yours sincerely,

成一篇完整的短文。
Early in my teaching career (事业), I heard countless excuses for
why students didn’t have their homework — most of these excuses are
invented, and many of them are amusing. And, yes, “the dog ate
it” was one of them.As time passed, I grew tired of hearing “I don’t
have my homework because ...” And so, I quit accepting any excuse.
When I moved to an inner-city middle school, I took my “no-
excuse” attitude with me.“No excuses!” I warned my eighth graders
on the first day of school.I collected homework at the beginning of each
class.When a student didn’t have it, I never asked why.Instead, I
sighed loudly, shook my head and — with the student looking on —
recorded a zero in the grade book.Soon I became famous in the school for
being extremely strict.
Then, one afternoon, shortly after the bell rang, I stepped into
the classroom and began to collect all the students’ homework. When I
walked to Anthony, he dropped his head with his lower lip quivering
(颤抖), “I don’t have my homework because ...”
“No excuse,” I looked at him angrily, thinking there was
another ugly excuse for being lazy.
My warning stopped Anthony in mid-sentence.His face turned red
with embarrassment and he was almost in tears. In that classroom of 25
students, there was dead silence.
As usual, I sighed heavily, shook my head and recorded a zero in
the grade book. After that, I moved to another student. One by one,
they handed in their homework silently. After the class, still in anger, I
stormed out of the classroom and into my office.I never believed Anthony
had a really good reason for failing to finish his homework. How could a
student who lost interest in their study and made up excuses for their
laziness be forgiven? Never. And I would never give up my “No
excuse” attitude.I would never listen to their stupid excuses.Never.
But this time I was wrong.

2. 请按如下格式作答。
At the end of school that afternoon, Anthony came to my office.
After that, I changed my attitude from “No excuse” to “Listen
and Help”.
参考范文:
At the end of school that afternoon, Anthony came to my office. “I
know whatever happened, I should have finished my homework,
but ...” Heart-broken, he suddenly burst out crying. It was then that I
decided to listen to him.I put my hand on Anthony’s thin shoulder,
asking him gently to tell me what was the matter.“My dad has been in
hospital for 2 weeks, and my mom waits tables at night, so I have to
take care of my little brother.” How I regretted I hadn’t listened to his
explanation earlier.I told him I would help him with his study at
lunchtime. He nodded gratefully. And since then, Anthony had never
missed any homework.
After that, I changed my attitude from “No excuse” to “Listen
and Help”. I decided to give up my “No excuse”
attitude.Surprisingly, when I tried to listen, I discovered that truly my
students were always in difficult situations and because of listening, I
also could find better ways to help them.Slowly, both their study and our
relationship improved. Most importantly, I learned that “I’ll listen”
works a whole lot better than “No excuse!” This was a lesson that
wasn’t taught in the education classes I’d taken in college.
