Helen Keller was a famous writer. She became blind and lost her hearing at the age of nineteen months after a serious illness. Helen met her home teacher, Sullivan, when she was six years old and she learned to read and write by touching. This helped her to understand and communicate with the world around her. At the age of fourteen, Helen went to a special school for the deaf and blind. When she was twenty-three years old, Helen published her first book. The book told the story of her early life. Following that, Helen published some other books. In 1903, she wrote the world-famous classic Three Days to See. From Helen Keller, we can learn an important lesson: No difficulty can stop us from being successful.

Good evening! It’s Friday, July 21st. Welcome to the weather report. We are having a stronger heatwave than ever these days. Tomorrow, the temperature will become even higher, with the highest of 43°C in the day and the lowest of 38°C at night. This Sunday, the temperature will reach the highest of the past ten years, 44°C for the highest and 39°C for the lowest.
Here are some tips from the Red Cross.
First, stay in a cool place. A cool indoor environment works best during a hot summer. Second, choose cool clothing and don’t forget to drink lots of water.
Third, limit your outdoor activities at the hottest time of the day, such as lunchtime.
Finally, take breaks more often if you have to work outdoors, and stop working once you don’t feel good.
It’s the weather report for today. Thanks for watching.
Review Activity 1
Natural disasters are always harmful. Most clearly, they harm the environment, break down homes, and even cause deaths in large numbers. Still, many of the bad e ects are unseen. For example, a heatwave can raise the temperature of sea water, and kill the fish and plants in the sea. As a result, we have less seafood.
Although di erent disasters may have di erent causes, human activities can also bring about natural disasters. For example, the burning of coal can lead to global warming, and then cause longer and hotter heatwaves and more serious rainstorms. We should try our best to prevent natural disasters. At the same time, we should also learn how to protect ourselves in disasters.

William Wordsworth was one of the leading British poets from 1800 to 1850. He grew up in northwest England. As a child, he loved to go for long walks in the mountains. That was perhaps why he often wrote about nature when he grew up. After he graduated from Cambridge University, he moved to France. A few years later, he returned to his hometown.
Wordsworth wrote many poems about the beauty of nature. His poems often expressed how he enjoyed fishing, boating, and swimming in nature. He believed that nature was one of his greatest teachers and he advised people to return to nature to lead a more peaceful life.
