First, I’d like to share a research report. The research shows that helping others can have a positive effect on our mental health. (18) It reduces stress, makes us feel better and even benefits our physical health. So, I think it’s important to support each other in our community. (19) It’s the small things in life that can make a big difference. Not sure what to do Here are a few ideas: Call a friend that you haven’t spoken to for a while or write a letter to your grandparents. (20) Offer to pick up some groceries for an elderly neighbor or take a moment to express your love and appreciation to your family members. Help your parents with housework or make someone laugh. Byron Howard, the chief director of Zootopia Series, still remembers the day in 2016 when audiences first stepped into the all-animal city. “We had painted a world without humans, but full of human problems,” he says. Yet the moment the film ended, fans asked, “What happens next ” That question kept echoing in Howard’s mind for years.
In 2020 he and long-time partner Jared Bush locked themselves in a tiny story room at Disney Animation. Index cards covered every wall: some showed Nick and Judy on new cases; others pictured reptiles (爬行动物) who had never appeared in the city. Howard explains they wanted a bigger world, not just a bigger case.Between cups of cold coffee they finally found the clue—why were reptiles absent from the first film Answering that became the emotional engine of the sequel (续篇).
To feel what their cold-blooded characters might experience, the team once spent an afternoon in the studio’s walk-in freezer, writing story outlines with gloves. “Our teeth chattered, but the jokes got warmer,” Bush laughs.
The next five years became a cycle of creation and destruction. They drafted eight versions of the opening, built an underground jazz bar for lizards, and even designed a giraffe mayor who spoke so softly that no microphone could catch him. Each time a screening failed, the team tore the story apart and started again. Howard admits that giving up every draft felt like cutting off a piece of his heart, but the city deserved the best.
On November 26, 2025, when the finished film lit up the theater, Howard quietly slipped into the back row. Watching kids cheer for a snake who saves Judy, he whispered, “Welcome home.” The city that once existed only in sketches had grown, and so had its builder.
24. What covered every wall of the story room
A. Pictures of Nick and Judy. B. Photos of his partner.
C. Maps of the city. D. Cards with animals.

A. The pain of giving up the drafts. B. The challenges in designing the plot.
C. The process of creating the film. D. The construction of the animal city.
27. What might Howard's attitude be towards the continuation
A. He was satisfied with the film. B. He was upset to see the film.
C. He regretted directing it. D. He was confident from the start.

An AI model has appeared in a top fashion magazine for the first time. In the August edition of the best-selling “Vogue” magazine, a “perfect-looking” blonde model has been used to show off summer clothes from the lifestyle brand Guess. The debut (首秀) of AI model has sparked immediate interest of many young readers, praising it as an exciting step towards more creative and futuristic fashion expression.
Vogue says it is the first time an AI-generated “person” has featured in its pages. It said its editors did not decide to include a computer-generated model, but the model was part of an advertising campaign. The model was created by a company called Seraphinne Vallora. Its head said they used AI because they saw a “gap in the market”. The company added that it wanted to “use the incredible power of AI to change the face of marketing images”.
The Guess ad has also created a lot of controversy (争议) in the fashion industry. Sinead Bovell, a former model, wrote an article for Vogue five years ago about how AI might replace human models. Many people in the fashion world are now worried this could come true. Another model, Felicity Hayward, said the Guess ad was “very disheartening and quite scary”. She called it a “kick in the teeth” for diversity in the industry because AI models might replace real models.
Concerns have also reached beyond the modeling business.Susan Ringwood, the head of the eating disorder charity Beat also warned that “perfect” AI models will increase body anxiety. She explained that when people compared themselves with perfect-looking computer-made figures, they may develop unhealthy thoughts about their own looks. Experts fear that “Poor body image increases the risk of developing an eating disorder.”
28. Why did the editors of Vogue magazine use the AI model finally
A. To attract more younger readers.
B. To criticize human models in fashion.
C. To save costs by replacing the human models.
D. To run the advertisement as provided by Guess.
29. What does the phrase“kick in the teeth”mean in paragraph 3
A. A strong support. B. A small influence.
C. A big disappointment. D. A slight improvement.
30. What is Susan Ringwood's attitude to the use of the AI model
A. Supportive. B. Opposed. C. Uncaring. D. Uncertain.
31. Which can be the best title for the passage
A. AI Model Meets Argument. B. Guess hit the fashion world.
C. The Side Effect of AI Models. D. AI Model will Replace Human.

Honeybees can’t swim, and when their wings are wet, they can’t fly, either. But Chris Roh and other researchers at the California Institute of Technology found that when bees drop bodies into water, they can use their wings to produce little waves and slide toward land — like surfers who create and then ride their own waves.
As with many scientific advances — Isaac Newton’s apple or Benjamin Franklin’s lightning bolt — Dr. Roh’s experiment began with a walk. Passing Caltech’s Millikan Pond in 2016, he observed a bee on the water’s surface producing waves. He wondered how an insect known for flight could push itself through water.
Dr. Roh and his co-worker, Morteza Gharib, used butterfly nets to collect local Pasadena honeybees and observed their surf-like movements. The researchers used a wire to limit each bee’s bodily movement, allowing close examination of their wings. They carefully studied the images captured by high-speed video cameras and found that the bee bends its wings at a 30-degree angle, pulling up water and producing a forward force. Bees get caught on the surface because water is roughly three times heavier than air. But that weight helps to push the bee forward when its wings move quickly up and down. It’s a tough exercise for the bees, which the researchers guess could handle about 10 minutes of the activity.
The researchers said the surf-like movement hasn’t been recorded in other insects and most semiaquatic (半水生的) insects use their legs for propulsion, which is known as water-walking. It may have evolved (进化) in bees, they predicted.
Dr. Roh and Dr. Gharib have imagined many practical applications for bees’ surfing. One plan is to use their observations to design robots able to travel across sky and sea. “This could be useful for search and rescues, or for getting samples of the surface of the ocean, if you can’t send a boat or helicopter,” Dr. Gharib said.
32. How do honeybees move themselves on water
A. By paddling with their legs. B. By floating with the help of wind.
C. By making waves with their wings. D. By swimming with their wings.
33. How did the researchers do their study
A. They controlled and observed bees closely.
B. They compared bees with other insects.
C. They collected data from local ponds.
D. They just used high-speed video cameras.
34. What is a potential application of the finding
A. To train bees for water rescue. B. To design air-water travel robots.
C. To teach survival skills to surfers. D. To develop new types of surfboards.
35. What is the text mainly about
A. A study on the wings of the honeybees.
B. The process of a scientific experiment.
C. A discovery about bees' surf-like movement.
D. The evolution of insects’ swimming skills.

Time Management
If there is one thing that most teenagers don’t seem to have enough of, it is time. With proper time management, busy teenagers can achieve better academic results while still having time for extracurricular activities. 36
Create a schedule. 37 At the beginning of each week, create a schedule that map out all your major items and the time available. Decide which tasks are the most urgent, and plan to do these first.
Set small goals. When facing a large and time-consuming task, you tend to put it off because you don’t really know where to start and it may make you feel overwhelmed. To get started easily, breaking it down into smaller will keep you motivated. 38
Make the most of every second. While you are travelling to school or waiting for a friend to turn up, you probably find yourself checking or posting on social media. Instead use this time to do one or more of your small tasks. By getting some reading done during your unexpected free time, you’ll end up saving a lot of time.
39 Every one has their own natural rhythm for learning. Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, identify the time when you are most productive.Use that time to get through your to-do list and you’ll be more efficient.
Finally, remember to take breaks. Studying for too long without resting can make you tired and less productive. 40 Taking short breaks during study sessions —such as stretching, having a snack, or listening to a song—can actually improve your focus and help you learn better.
By following these simple steps, you can make better use of your time, reduce stress, and enjoy a more balanced life.

书面表达(满分20分)
Dear Tom,
I’m delighted you’re interested in Chinese middle school students’ after-school labor.
On weekdays, I usually help my parents with housework after finishing my homework, such as tidying up my room, washing dishes and watering the plants. On weekends, I sometimes join in the community voluntary program, where we clean the public garden and help the elderly carry heavy things.
Actually, labor benefits me a lot. It not only makes me more independent but also lets me understand how hard my parents work. Besides, I’ve made some new friends through the labour voluntary work and felt a strong sense of achievement when seeing the clean garden.
What do you usually do in your spare time Looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
