(2025·江苏盐城模拟)When I was growing up,my mom often said that no matter what grades I got in school,as long as I did my best, she'd be proud of me.Then she added,“But if you didn't get an A,I'll know you didn't do your best.” She said it with a smile, but I took it seriously: I shouldn't settle for anything less than perfect. My greatest weakness is that I'm too much of a perfectionist.
Perfectionism is the desire to be 100% perfect. The goal is zero faults and no failures. In an increasingly competitive world, kids face growing pressure from parents to be perfect and severe criticism when they fall short.Every fault is a blow to their self-esteem (自尊).I've lived it myself.
When I won the fifth-grade quiz bowl on world explorers,I beat myself up afterward for missing one question. How could I forget that the sea route to India was discovered by da Gama, but not Magellan When I made the finals of a Mortal Kombat tournament and won a lifetime pass to a local movie theater,I didn't celebrate.Third place is the second loser. When I won the first prize in a math test,I was disappointed.Only a 98 Not good enough. There was always a voice in the back of my mind whispering that it wasn't enough and that I could have done better.
It was during my college years that I started to question the value of this perfectionism.I met people who didn't seem to be weighed down by the same expectations, who accepted their mistakes and saw them as opportunities for growth rather than failures. They taught me that it was okay to be imperfect, that it was human to make mistakes, and that sometimes, the most important lessons come from our failures.

C [细节理解题。根据第二段中“Perfectionism is the desire to be 100% perfect. The goal is zero faults and no failures.”以及第三段中“When I won the fifth-grade quiz bowl on world explorers,I beat myself up afterward for missing one question.”可知,渴望完美让作者对已经取得的成就不满意。故选C。]
6.What made the author change the attitude towards perfectionism
A.Losing expectation to succeed.
B.Realizing the harm of being perfect.
C.Learning lessons from other people's failure.
D.Encountering those accepting imperfection.

D [细节理解题。根据最后一段中“I met people who didn't seem to be weighed down by the same expectations, who accepted their mistakes and saw them as opportunities for growth rather than failures...the most important lessons come from our failures”可知,遇到那些接受不完美的人让作者改变了对完美主义的态度。故选D。]

(2025·福建福州三模)Large language models (LLMs) seem better at making people feel seen and heard than humans. This phenomenon, called“LLMpathy”,is both surprising and controversial. Some argue that computers can't truly empathize (共情) for lack of emotion.Others are alarmed by how readily people are trading human connection for digital ones. But beyond these concerns, chatbots might offer something more practical. If they are beating us at empathy, shouldn't we try to learn what they are doing, right
Researchers initially wondered if AI advantage lay in its unlimited attention. But that doesn't seem to explain it.A 2024 research in Harvard Business School revealed that people's expressing of empathy, despite increased commitments, still fell short compared to those by ChatGPT.
Chatbots' success may come from avoiding all-too-human mistakes.Chatbots' responses stood out mainly because they focused on acknowledging feelings, unlike humans who often shared a seemingly related experience to offer solutions, unintentionally damaging the hope of being truly heard.
Chatbots avoid these pitfalls. They focus entirely on the speaker.More than humans, chatbots paraphrase, acknowledge and justify how people might feel. When people adopt similar strategies, their connections strengthen.
It bears noting that the AI advantage in empathetic conversations has limits. Its“paraphrase, acknowledge, follow up”may feel warm the first time, but dull the second. Most research tests people's interactions with Chatbots just once,so AI's edge might fade in longer, repetitive chats.
Chatbots might be helpful, but they still can't feel or truly care. The demand for AI therapists (理疗师) may be growing, but many people still prefer human support.Anyone who has repeated “agent” at a customer-service robot knows the feeling of desperately wanting a real person on the line. Some of the shortcomings of human connection are also,in fact, features. But the fact that we often must earn human empathy, and that it comes from limited beings who devote themselves to being there for us,is part of its beauty.
【语篇解读】 本文是一篇议论文。文章围绕大型语言模型(LLMs)在共情能力上似乎优于人类这一现象展开讨论,提出了“LLMpathy”这一概念,并分析了这一现象背后的原因、争议以及其实际意义。
8.Why does AI often outperform humans at showing empathy
A.It has unlimited patience.
B.It shares related experience.
C.It focuses on people's feelings.
D.It prioritizes solving problems.

C [细节理解题。根据第三段“Chatbots' responses stood out mainly because they focused on acknowledging feelings, unlike humans who often shared a seemingly related experience to offer solutions, unintentionally damaging the hope of being truly heard.”以及第四段“They focus entirely on the speaker.More than humans, chatbots paraphrase, acknowledge and justify how people might feel.”可知,因为人工智能关注的是人们的感受,所以在表现同理心方面往往胜过人类。]
9.What does the underlined word“pitfalls”in paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Responses. B.Shortcomings.
C.Experiences. D.Feelings.

B [词义猜测题。根据上文“Chatbots' responses stood out mainly because they focused on acknowledging feelings, unlike humans who often shared a seemingly related experience to offer solutions, unintentionally damaging the hope of being truly heard.”
10.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.Human care is irreplaceable.
B.In-person chats have limits.
C.Service lines benefit human.
D.Emotion is enhanced by AI.
A [推理判断题。根据最后一段“Chatbots might be helpful...devote themselves to being there for us,is part of its beauty.”可知,从本段我们能了解到人类的关怀是不可替代的。故选A项。]

11.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.Chatbots:The New Emotional Support
B.The Double-Edged Sword of Chatbots
C.The Rising Demand for AI Therapists
D.Learn to Be a Listener like Chatbots

D [标题归纳题。根据第一段“Large language models (LLMs) seem better ...try to learn what they are doing, right?”可知,本文主要讲述了大型语言模型(LLMs)在共情能力上似乎优于人类,应该学习他们,所以D项“学会像聊天机器人一样倾听”是本文最好的标题。]

(2025·河北保定模拟)For the first time in Canada, surgeons have successfully carried out the first stage of a procedure involving implanting (植入) a tooth into the eyes of people with a type of severe blindness in the hopes of restoring their vision.
Known as “tooth-in-eye” surgery, the operation was recently carried out in three patients with severe corneal (角膜的) blindness.Tooth-in-eye surgery aims to change that in two surgeries. This first step is the creation of the implant. This requires the removal of one of the patient's teeth, which is shaved down into a square-like shape with a hole drilled into it that will hold a plastic optical lens (光学透镜).The shaped tooth is then placed inside the patient's cheek, where it stays for around three months to develop new tissue and a blood supply.
Once that's happened,in the second stage, surgeons remove the implant from the cheek and put it into the eye, where the plastic lens allows light through, restoring the patient's vision.“It's like replacing the windscreen on a car when it's totally frosted over,” Dr Greg Moloney, who led the Canadian surgeries, told the Vancouver Sun.
It might sound a bit unpleasant to put someone's tooth in their eye,but it actually makes a lot of sense; both the fact that teeth are super hard and that it's the patient's own tooth increase the chances that the implant will last long term.“The procedure isn't completely risk-free,but there is no risk of rejection, because we're using part of the patient's own body.”
The patients are set to experience the second surgery later this year. One of those patients,Gail Chapman, was the first to receive the initial surgery and was hopeful of what the procedure could mean for her future. While this was a Canadian first,tooth-in-eye surgery is far from new. It's been around since the 1960s,when it was pioneered by Italian Professor Benedetto Strampelli, and was later improved into the procedure that it is today.

(2025·四川德阳三模)In our fast-paced world, emotional regulation has become a survival skill.Unlike bottling up emotions, effective emotional management helps respond thoughtfully. To achieve this, several practical strategies can help us manage our emotions effectively.
16 Psychologists suggest labeling emotions as weather patterns:Is this a passing “rain shower” of frustration or an enduring“cold front”of sadness? This approach creates psychological distance, making it easier to process emotions effectively.
Breathe before you leap. When anger hits, try the 4-7-8 technique:Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale for 8 seconds. 17 Firefighters regularly use it to stay calm in crises.
Move to Improve. In addition to breathing techniques, physical activity also plays a crucial role in emotional regulation.According to a 2018 Harvard study, engaging in 30-minute daily walks can reduce anxiety symptoms by up to 25%. 18 Regular physical activity not only improves sleep quality but also boosts energy levels and increases self-esteem.
Seek wise support.Beyond individual efforts, seeking support from others can significantly benefit our emotional well-being.Create a“go-to trio”:one logical friend for objective advice, one understanding listener for emotional support, and one professional for expert guidance. 19 .
True emotional mastery lies not in bottling up feelings but in dancing gracefully with them. 20 By applying these strategies,we can turn emotional challenges into opportunities for growth.
A.Even chair stretches during breaks make a difference.
B.Make sure what your emotional dynamics is for yourself.
C.This diverse support system ensures access to valuable resources.

(2025·山东临沂三模)My wife's job took her out of town a lot and I needed some company. So one day,I went to the local animal-rescue center. The little cocker spaniel (可卡猎犬) trembling in a cage caught my eye right away. She had scared eyes and I could tell she
longed to be picked up and hugged.I gently petted her soft fur,and to my surprise, she stopped shaking. That was that.I filled out the paperwork and took my new dog—Honey home.
I'd had her only a couple of weeks, but Honey and I quickly became close friends. She followed me like a shadow from the very first day.She loved sitting on my lap.We often went to the backyard, where I picked up a ball and threw it.I sat down to watch Honey race after the ball.We had great fun together.
That October morning last year I decided to take Honey with me while I ran some errands (差事).She jumped in and settled down on the passenger seat.I got behind the wheel and started the car.We lived in a remote area up in the hills outside San Rafael, surrounded by tall redwoods. We had to drive up the mountain at a low speed to get to our driveway, which was barely wide enough for one car and ended at a steep cliff.
I turned around and backed up slowly.Just then,a flash of sunlight blinded me.I put my hand up to protect my eyes.Suddenly, the car slipped in the soft soil and rolled down the valley.I heard a horrible crash.A giant branch plunged (扎进) through the roof and hit my leg.We landed upside down.I was stuck.I looked over to find Honey. She was still in the passenger seat. She seemed scared but was not hurt.

I knew I had to do something to save us.Blood was running down my leg from the branch that had pierced the roof.Pain shot through my body, but I couldn't give up.I tried to move, but my leg was trapped.Honey barked loudly, her eyes full of fear and concern. She jumped out of the seat and started licking my face,as if trying to keep me awake. Then, she ran out through a broken window and disappeared into the woods.I didn't know where she was going, but I prayed she would find help.
As I watched Honey fade out of my view,my thoughts started to wander off.I felt weaker and colder by the minute.I thought about how she had come into my life when I needed a friend most. Now she was risking her life for mine.Hours passed,or maybe it was only minutes—I couldn't tell. Then,in the distance,I heard voices and footsteps rushing toward me.It was Honey, leading rescuers through the thick forest.I smiled weakly, knowing my brave girl had saved me.

4.What is paragraph 1 mainly about
A.Why the author became a perfectionist.
B.The disadvantage of being a perfectionist.

D.Pressure of competitions.

C.Learning lessons from other people's failure.
D.Encountering those accepting imperfection.
7.Which column of a magazine may the text be taken from

8.Why does AI often outperform humans at showing empathy
A.It has unlimited patience.
B.It shares related experience.
C.It focuses on people's feelings.
D.It prioritizes solving problems.
9.What does the underlined word“pitfalls”in paragraph 4 probably mean
A.Responses. B.Shortcomings.
C.Experiences. D.Feelings.
10.What can we learn from the last paragraph
A.Human care is irreplaceable.
B.In-person chats have limits.
C.Service lines benefit human.
D.Emotion is enhanced by AI.
11.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.Chatbots:The New Emotional Support
B.The Double-Edged Sword of Chatbots
C.The Rising Demand for AI Therapists

12.What is involved in the first stage of the “tooth-in-eye” surgery
A.Placing the plastic lens in the eye.
B.Restoring the patient's eyesight partly.
C.Removing a patient's tooth for the implant.
D.Moving the implant from the cheek to the eye.
13.What is the key role of the plastic optical lens in the second-stage surgery
A.To fix the tooth in the eye.
B.To help the eye receive light.
C.To reduce the pain of the patient.
D.To accelerate the treatment process.
14.Why does the surgery use the patient's own tooth
A.To simplify the surgical procedure.
B.To reduce the risk of implant rejection.
C.To lower the cost of the entire surgery.
D.To make the implant look more natural.
15.What does the author think of the “tooth-in-eye” surgery
A.The surgery has been improved a little.
B.There is a serious danger of infection during the surgery.
C.The surgery will become popular in Canada.
D.The surgery dates back over fifty years.

D.The strategy probably succeeds in calming the nervous system down.
E.Explore insights into our emotional landscape under any circumstances.

For the“Happy Childhood”exhibition at the English Festival,I have chosen my beloved teddy bear, named “Cuddles”,as my exhibit.
Standing approximately a foot tall,Cuddles boasts a coat of gentle ,brown fur that has faded over time. Its charming, oversized button eyes and delicate nose give it an innocent appearance that brings a warm and cute feeling.Whether I am overflowing with joy, sorrow,or fear,Cuddles always serves as a constant companion, providing comfort and delight.
Through this exhibit,I aim to convey the profound importance of this doll in my life and inspire a sense of appreciation of the simple pleasures and heartfelt memories of childhood.

【参考范文】
