1. Warm-up & Lead-in - Ask students: “Have you ever grown a plant What did you grow ” - Show a picture of a pea plant and ask: “What parts of the plant do you know ” Pre-reading - Teach core words: biology, bud, stem, bloom, pea pod - Explain patterns: - When + present simple, ... will + verb → When it rains, we will stay inside. - because for giving reasons → I water the plant every day because it needs water to grow. - Introduce the structure of an observation diary (date, weather, observations). 3. While-reading - Task 1: Read & Label (Ex. 1) Students read the diary and label the pea plant parts (flower bud, leaf, stem). - Task 2: Read & Understand Students identify the growth stages of Jeremy’s pea plant (seed → bud → stem/leaves → flower bud → flower). - Task 3: Analyze the Diary Highlight how Jeremy records weather and observations, and discuss the key details. 4. Post-reading - Pair Work (Ex. 2) Students discuss their own planting experiences using the prompts: “Did you ever grow a plant How did you take care of it ” - Group Activity (Ex. 3) Students choose a plant to grow together and draft an observation diary template. - Share Ideas Invite 2–3 groups to share their plant choices and diary plans. 5. Summary & Homework - Summary: Recap key vocabulary, diary structure, and plant growth stages. - Homework: 1.
