A Story of Adversity and Courage
Once upon a time, there was a small village sitting in the
mountains. In this village lived a young boy named Tom. Tom’s family
was poor, and his father was often sick, so the burden of supporting the
family fell on Tom’s young shoulders.
One year, a severe drought hit the village. The crops died, and
food became scarce. People in the village were filled with despair, but
Tom refused to give up. He remembered an old well on the outskirts of the
village that had dried up long ago. Tom thought that if he could dig deep
enough, he might find water.
Every day, after finishing his chores at home, Tom would go to the
old well with a shovel. The digging was tough. The soil was hard, and
his hands soon blistered and bled. Some villagers laughed at him, saying
it was a waste of time. But Tom was determined. He kept thinking of his
sick father and the hungry villagers.
Day after day, Tom dug. Finally, after weeks of hard work, he
heard a faint sound of water. With great excitement, he dug faster.
Soon, water gushed out of the well. The villagers were overjoyed.
Thanks to Tom’s courage and perseverance, the village was saved from
the drought. From then on, Tom became a hero in the village, and his
story inspired everyone to face adversity with courage.
