M:Man is set to enter a new stage of transport as a flying car will go on sale next year. The BlackFly vehicle was shown publicly for the first time by the maker Opener in California on Thursday.Larry Page provides money for the flying car.BlackFly’s designers say it can travel for up to 40 km at a speed of 100 kph.It will eventually cost the same as a regular car.The vehicle has been tested in Canada, which has authorized its use.Even though it will fly to the skies, drivers will not need a pilot’s license to get behind the controls. However, BlackFly operators will have to successfully complete a pilot’s written examination and receive training in how to use the vehicle.
Some experts say the term “car” is somewhat of a wrong name as it has no wheels and cannot be driven on roads.A more accurate description would be a person-carrying vehicle. The vehicle can only carry one person.Company CEO Marcus Leng said,“Opener is reenergizing the art of flight with a safe and affordable flying vehicle that can free its operators from the everyday restrictions of ground transportation.” Robert Eustace, the former Senior Vice President of Knowledge said the age of personal flight could be arriving with BlackFly.He said,“I’ve noticed that things go from impossible to unavoidable in a very short period of time.”

Born into a farmer’s family in Dalian, northeast China’s Liaoning Province, Dong Lina suffered from congenital (先天的) eye disease and went blind at the age of 10.
Like many visually-impaired children, she finished compulsory education at a school for disabled people and began learning Tuina. In 2003, she finally obtained a job. Her life then was like a fixed route, but Dong was unwilling to take it for granted. “Teachers always told me not to give up learning new knowledge because it could give me more options in life,” she said.
One day she found an anchor (节目主持人) training program for visually-impaired youth. Dong realized that this might be her big moment, and she made a life-changing phone call.
After the training at the organization, Dong was recommended to a workshop at a radio station where she was the only visually-impaired person in the class. Her physical disability forced her to make an extra effort in her spare time. “My pronunciation was often not accurate, yet I could not correct it by looking into the mirror, and the teacher figured out a way that I touched his mouth to follow the way he pronounced,” said Dong.
Despite all the difficulties, Dong achieved the top level in the Mandarin proficiency test. In 2015, she became the host of a radio program and in 2020, she returned to the Communication University of China to pursue a master’s degree in broadcast and television.
“Life may not be perfect, but we can make up for it with our own hard work and the support of society,” said Dong.

“Zero distractions.” That’s what Cal Newport, author of Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World, says is required to have a session of focused productivity he calls “deep work.”
Are zero-distraction moments even available to most of us these days? After all, every technical innovation that makes our lives more convenient, like phones and apps and streaming entertainment, is built for a multi-tasking lifestyle. Listen to music. Add to your grocery list. Press “buy” on an online shopping cart. Reserve a table for this weekend. All of these are things many of us do at the same time — and all too often while we’re doing something else, like working.
Newport described the snags of this lifestyle in an interview with The New York Times:“Every time you switch your attention from one target to another and then back again, there’s a cost. This switching creates an effect that psychologists call attention residue (残留), which can reduce your cognitive capacity for a substantial amount of time before it clears. If you constantly make ‘quick checks’ of various devices and inboxes, you essentially keep yourself in a state of persistent attention residue, which is a terrible idea if you’re someone who uses your brain to make a living.”
Instead of moving quickly from activity to activity, Newport urges us to actively make time for “deep work” every day, time when we are engaged in cognitively challenging tasks without interruption from anything else. This could be knitting or reading or learning a language or meeting a professional goal. The important part is that it needs to be an activity you can commit to investing your energy in wholeheartedly.
“Getting in the habit of working deeply will,” says Newport, “lead you to the unavoidable conclusion that concentration is a super power.” What in your life would you like to approach with a “deep work” mentality?
28.What can be inferred about zero-distractions moments from paragraph 2?( )
A.They are available to most people.
B.They result from technical innovation.
C.Most people don’t need them at all.
D.It is hard to obtain them nowadays.
29.What does the underlined word “snags” in paragraph 3 mean?( )
A.Disadvantages. B.Features.
C.Potentials. D.Principles.
30.What does Newport recommend doing according to the text?( )
A.Reducing the use of technology.
B.Doing one thing deeply at a time.
C.Listening to music while working.
D.Balancing multiple activities effectively.
31.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?( )
A.Multitasking: A Modern Lifestyle
B.The Challenges of Zero Distractions
C.Deep Work: The Key to Focused Productivity
D.The Power of Attention Residue in a Noisy World
D
After 25 years at Mumsnet, the UK’s most popular website for parents, I thought I’d seen it all with big tech, but Google’s push to change UK copyright law for uncompensated content scraping (抓取) left me stunned. We’ve experienced the direct impact of this, launching the first British legal action against OpenAI for scraping our content — likely for training its large language model (LLM) — without approval, a clear copyright violation.
You might wonder why using online content for AI training is a problem, given Google’s data collection for search purposes since the dawn of the Internet. When websites allow Google to access their data, they receive a clear return on investment: the heightened search traffic (流量) that originates from being listed in Google’s search rankings. In contrast, AI training is building models such as ChatGPT to provide the answers to any prospective questions, and that will mean people no longer need to go elsewhere for solutions. And it is building those models with illegally scraped content from the very websites it is ready to replace.
Allowing the AI companies to simply steal content isn’t just unfair to publishers who see no reward for the work they put in, or the risks they take, it’s also an existing threat to them and eventually counterproductive. If publishers disappear because the AIs have swept up all their traffic, then who’s left to produce the content to feed the AI models?
Mumsnet is fortunate to be in a stronger position than many, as much of our traffic is direct, not search-engine driven. An AI chatbot can spit out a “Mumsnet-style” answer to a parenting question, but they’ll never be as funny about parking wars, and they’ll never offer the emotional support that helps around 1,000 women leave abusive partners each year. But if these trillion-dollar giants are allowed to exploit content producers, and get away with it, they will destroy many of them, and all the jobs dependent on them.
32.What’s the difference between Google’s data collection and AI training?( )
A.AI training is more dependent on data diversity.
B.AI training enhances the quality of websites’ content.
C.Google’s data collection benefits websites with traffic.
D.Google’s data collection aims to build large language models.
33.What’s the ultimate effect of using unpaid content?( )
A.Innovation in language models.
B.Rejection of AI-generated data.
C.Wider accessibility to content.
D.Decline of content supply.
34.What gives Mumsnet an advantage over AI chatbots?( )
A.It has a distinctive question-and-answer style.
B.It covers a wide range of human concerns.
C.It features humanized interaction.
D.It boasts a strong search function.
35.What’s the author’s purpose in writing the text?( )
A.To advocate the acceptance of content scraping.
B.To explore AI’s role in future content creation.
C.To voice worries over tech giant’s misuse of content.
D.To discuss the cooperation of tech giants and publishers.

故填was awarded。
本句谓语为was awarded,空处为非谓语动词,one’s contributions to 表示“某人对……的贡献”,其中to是介词,应用address的动词-ing形式,作宾语。故填addressing。
58.that/who 考查定语从句。 故填that/who。
in carrying out the world’s largest afforestation (造林) project与in establishing expert research networks and partnerships是并列关系。故填and。
be devoted to表示“致力于”,本句谓语为is,此处为非谓语动词作后置定语,修饰the scientists and technologists,应用过去分词形式。
make efforts to do sth表示“努力做某事”,为固定搭配,所以本空用动词不定式。故填to protect。
故填since。

Dear Tom,
How’s it going? I’m excited to share my unforgettable trip to the Ocean Park last Sunday with you.
The moment I stepped into the park, I was fascinated by the vibrant marine world. The colorful sea creatures were so charming that I couldn’t take my eyes off them. During the trip, I also participated in a photography contest with the theme “Wonderful Ocean Moments”. My entry featured a dolphin gracefully leaping out of the water, its body shining in the sunlight — a perfect representation of the park’s beauty and vitality.
I’m looking forward to hearing about your recent adventures and exchanging ideas about photography. Let’s catch up soon!

Squeaky wasn’t expected to do much around the house, but she was responsible for looking after her sister Louise, who was intellectually disabled. People in their Harlem neighborhood often made fun of Louise, but Squeaky didn’t hesitate to stand up for her. As Squeaky was an incredibly fast runner, she could just run away if things got too heated. In fact, Squeaky won many races she competed in, sometimes losing to her classmate and friend, Gretchen. These days, Squeaky and Gretchen were talking about who of them would win in the coming May Day race.
Squeaky often ran around the neighborhood, training for races and performing breathing exercises, and Louise usually went together. Louise often caused trouble in public, drawing the anger of neighbors to whom Squeaky must apologize. But Squeaky didn’t mind as long as Louise didn’t interfere (干扰) with her training.
Presently, Squeaky was practicing running in the neighborhood with Louise when she spotted Gretchen running towards them. When they came close, they all stopped. Gretchen looked at Louise in curiosity, which was taken as a provocation by Squeaky, who stepped forward in defense. Gretchen stepped back and smiled kindly.Relieved, Squeaky introduced Louise to Gretchen and explained why she was defensive.
Gretchen laughed, saying she was curious because she was surprised that Louise should be able to run as fast as Squeaky. “Is she also training for the May Day race?” Gretchen asked.
Squeaky’s eyes lit up. “Why haven’t I ever thought of this?” she thought. Gretchen’s words reminded her of an idea she had never thought of. “I decided to quit running and coach Louise instead. I have many awards, but Louise has nothing,” she told Gretchen. Gretchen was almost touched to tears by Squeaky’s consideration for her sister. “Can I work together with you?” Gretchen asked with enthusiasm. The two friends looked at each other in agreement.
注意:(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
The coaching was no easy job.

  May Day finally arrived.

The coaching was no easy job. Gretchen played the role of the referee who fired the gun. Squeaky ran together with Louise. To make the race like a real one, Gretchen even asked some of her friends to cheer them on the way and some others to play the role of other runners. The training became an uplifting scene in the neighborhood. Now even the neighbors who used to get annoyed by Louise were excited to join the cheering crowd. Louise’s progress was evident and she ran even faster than Squeaky and she learned to run without Squeaky’s company.
May Day finally arrived. Louise was standing at the starting line of the 50-yard dash with other runners. The gun went off, and Louise started to run. She ran really fast like an arrow that leaves the string. With more and more people joining the cheering crowd, the race became the most attractive event of the May Day celebrations. Louise won the race as expected. She was awarded a medal and Squeaky had never seen her happier. Squeaky and Gretchen threw themselves at Louise, feeling proud that they had discovered her running potential.

24.Why did Dong learn Tuina?( )
A.To have a fixed route. B.To make a living.
C.To become an anchor. D.To pursue a degree.
25.How did Dong improve her pronunciation?( )
A.By following the way directly. B.By touching her own mouth.
C.By feeling the teacher’s mouth. D.By looking into the mirror.
