Good morning, everyone!
I'm Li Hua. On behalf of all the students and teachers, I’m delighted to extend our warmest
greetings to our friends from the UK.
Our school is an energetic place with a wide range of activities. The music club is renowned for its
performances, combing traditional Chinese instruments with modern music. Besides, we'd like to
invite you to experience the Dragon Boat Festival with us, trying the delicious Zongzi and watching
the exciting dragon boat races.
We hope this exchange program will be a fantastic opportunity for us to learn from each other
and create unforgettable memories.
Thank you!

"You don't look happy, Marc. What's wrong " she said. Hopeless and helpless, he turned to look at
Lily, explaining what had happened, especially the bet between he and Huck. Glancing at loads of
homework, “I am eager to revise math, but I don't know where to start and how to do”, he sighed. “Don't
worry. I will help you with the exam.” Lily comforted him. The following days, Marc worked very hard and
every time he wanted to give up, it occurred to him that he did not want to lose to Huck. Having prepared for
the exam for a few days, his confidence grew and he could solve the math problems easily.
On the day of the exam, Marc went to school with great confidence. Nervous as he was, he decided
to spare no effort to finish the paper. He met Huck in the classroom, who looked delighted, as if he was
bound to win. But Marc did not care. The exam started and Marc answered all the questions carefully.
Several days later, the result came out. A strong sense of excitement overwhelmed Marc as he knew he
passed the exam successfully. Relieved and delighted, he called his sister after the exam, expressing his joy
and gratitude. It was this unique experience that made Marc realize “ Nothing is impossible for a willing
heart.”

huge!
W: You must swim for exercise. I like to swim for fun. I like being in the sun, too.
M: Well, if I want to swim for fun, I prefer to go to the beach. Besides, I love playing beach volleyball.
W: Me too! Let’s invite some friends and go to the beach this weekend!
M: The weatherman said it’s supposed to rain.

W: Hey, Peter. How’s summer school going
M: It’s been a full month of studying. But I’ve only got two more weeks until I’m done.
W: Nice! How many courses are you taking
M: Two. They’re both 6 hours each week, so I’m really busy.
W: Sounds intense. What courses are you learning
M: I’m taking Spanish and math. I fell in love with Spanish when I visited Spain last summer. And I take the math course
because I failed my math exam last semester. I need to make up for it.
W: Oh, I’ve never actually taken the summer school. Is it expensive
M: A little bit, but classes are often smaller and you get more one-on-one time with professors.
W: So, when are you done for the summer again
M: I will get finals in two weeks. Then I’ll be free.
W: Any plans after that
M: Yeah. I’ll have a trip to the beaches with some friends. I need to relax after a long period of studying.
W: Great plan!
(Text 10)
M: Many years ago, I taught a student named Tom who was from a very poor family. He was very smart and never late
with his homework. Every day at lunch I would see him go to the library instead of eating with everyone else. When I asked
him about it, he said that he would rather study than eat. At first, I thought this was very good, but then I found out that he
only did this because he could not afford to pay for lunch. I did not want to upset him by telling him what I learned, so I
brought extra food with me every day and told him that my wife always packed me too much lunch because she was a chef
at a restaurant and got food very cheap. He took the extra food, and ate lunch with me even though he seemed embarrassed.
Years later, I received a letter from Tom and it was full of thanks. He became a doctor and now travels to poor hospitals
around the world to help those in need.
