“Sit”, “stay”, “shake hands”... These are some common dog commands you might know,
but how about find the escalator (自动扶梯)
It may sound surprising, but this is just one of the most basic skills for guide dogs. “Guide
dogs need to learn more than 30 skills, from avoiding obstacles to recognizing buildings. ”said Liu
Changtai, 29, who has worked as a guide dog trainer for more than four years.
Liu’s, day begins early at 7:30. “I walk the dogs one by one so I can check their health and
make sure they are ready for training that day,”said Liu.
试卷第 4 页,共 13 页
Playing with these cute and fluffy dogs is fun, but training them is not. In fact, it can be
rather boring and tiring. “We need to repeat just one command hundreds of times,”explained Liu,
“And almost all training classes are outdoors, no matter whether it is burning hot or freezing
cold. ”
Liu said the hardest part of training is teaching dogs something called “smart
disobedience”. As the eyes of the visually impaired, guide dogs must know when not to follow a
command. If a command may be dangerous, the dog must refuse it. By setting up safe practice
situations, Liu teaches dogs to understand their surroundings. For example, he may tell a dog to
cross the street when a car is coming. The dog must learn to see the danger and not obey the
command.
Even though the work is hard, Liu believes it is worth it. Earlier this year, one of his dogs
was matched with a blind person in Tianjin. When Liu saw videos of them traveling together, he
felt very proud. “That’s why I do this job,”said Liu. “We’re not just training dogs; we’re giving
people their lives back.”
4.What is the main reason Liu walks each dog separately every morning
A.To better understand each dog’s personality.
B.To build closer relationships with each dog.
C.To get them used to outdoor environments.
D.To check their fitness and readiness for training.
5.What can we learn about this job from paragraph 4
A.It is mostly indoor work.
B.It changes with the seasons.
C.It’s made easier by modern technology.
D.It’s repetitive and requires great patience.
6.What is “smart disobedience” according to the second-to-last paragraph
A.Refusing commands that are unsafe. B.Ignoring confusing commands.
C.Judging whether the owner is right. D.Obeying only the owner’s instructions.
7.How does Liu feel about his job
A.Simple but boring. B.Tiring but well-paid.
C.Challenging but meaningful. D.Dangerous but necessary.

A smile is often considered a universal sign of happiness, but science reveals its effects are
far more profound. Research conducted by psychologists suggests that the simple act of smiling
can actively influence our emotions and physiology (生理机能).
This phenomenon is linked to the “facial feedback hypothesis.” What this theory proposes
is that our facial expressions can send feedback to our brain, affecting our emotional state. Forcing
a smile during a stressful situation, even if you don’t feel like it, can lead to a lower heart rate and
reduce the intensity of stress. It is as though the brain interprets the muscle movements of a smile
as happiness, leading to a genuine improvement in mood.
The benefits extend beyond stress reduction. Smiling is seen as a friendly and approachable
signal in social interactions. It can break down barriers, apologize without words, and make
difficult conversations easier. Experts, who have studied this for years, recommend smiling at
yourself in the mirror to start the day on a positive note.
Understanding the science behind a smile provides us with a powerful, readily available
tool. It’s not about denying negative emotions but about using our body’s own mechanisms (机制)
to cultivate resilience (抵抗力). Whether it’s a slight curve of the lips or a broad grin, the message
is clear: the simple act of smiling holds the potential to change not only how others sense us but
also how we experience the world ourselves. It is indeed a small gesture with a significant impact.
8.What can we learn about forced smiles from the “facial feedback hypothesis”
A.They fail to influence emotions. B.They help reduce the sensed stress.
C.They cause side effects on the brain. D.They work better under extreme stress.
9.Which social function of smiling is mentioned in the passage
A.Replacing spoken apologies. B.Increasing the number of friends.
C.Removing interpersonal conflicts. D.Guaranteeing successful discussion.
10.What specific recommendation do experts give to start the day positively
A.Avoid looking in the mirror. B.Do 30 minutes of exercise.
C.Smile at oneself in the mirror. D.Write down negative thoughts.
11.What is the passage mainly about
A.Side effects of forced smiles. B.Costs of stress-relief methods.

A robot dog moving around a show field during the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival in
Shandong Province became the center of attention on Tuesday, drawing crowds of curious
onlookers.
The four-legged “field doctor”, with a special camera and intelligent recognition algorithms
(算法), scanned rows of crops, uploaded data to a central platform, and produced a detailed report
of the farmland. Song Zhihua, chairman of a digital technology company, said the smart robot dog
consists of three main parts: the robot itself, environmental sensing equipment, and most
importantly, a multispectral (多光谱的) camera with edge-computing capacity. “It focuses on
crop growth, soil moisture, and pest detection. It’s just like a doctor for the fields,” Song said.
The main event of the eighth annual festival, held in Dahuchenjia Village of Zhaoyuan
City, displayed the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in agriculture. From robots
that pick fruit to drones (无人机) spraying crops, the exhibits highlighted how smart technology is
transforming farming across China.
Apart from the robot dog designed for field management, a fruit-picking robot developed
by the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Machinery Sciences impressed participants with its
perfect operation. Equipped with visual recognition and real-time data integration technology, it
could detect mature fruit and pick it with a mechanical hand. “Farmers could simply relax in a
chair, push a button, and let machines do the plowing, sowing, and harvesting. In the future, all
operations will be unmanned,” said the vice-president of the academy.
It is reported that the country’s high-standard farmland has expanded to about 67 million
hectares. The mechanization rate of crop planting and harvesting has exceeded 75 percent, and
smart equipment is increasingly integrated into every stage of production.
12.What is the main function of the robot dog described in paragraph 2
A.To entertain the public. B.To test camera systems.
C.To monitor field conditions. D.To download farm data.
13.Why was the festival held
A.To promote Chinese organic farming.
试卷第 7 页,共 13 页
B.To sell Chinese agricultural products.
C.To train Chinese farmers to rapidly apply AI.
D.To show technological progress in Chinese farming.
14.What did the vice-president of the academy think of the robotic technology
A.Outdated. B.Promising.
C.Irreplaceable. D.Unreliable.
15.How is the last paragraph developed

Sarah stood at the starting line of the school track meeting. She had never lost a race, but
she still felt a bit nervous. She looked at the other runners. One freshman named Alex caught her
eye. She looked perfect. Sarah noticed how strong Alex’s legs looked, as if she practiced every
single day. Alex turned and saw Sarah’s shoes. She smiled and gave Sarah a thumbs-up.
The announcer started to explain the race, while Sarah kept looking at Alex. Suddenly,
Sarah’s heart sank. She knew Alex wouldn’t win. Because when Alex tied her shoelaces (鞋带) ,
one lace got caught on something and came loose. Obviously, Alex didn’t notice. She smiled at
Sarah again and gave another thumbs-up. Sarah felt bad, but she didn’t want to ruin her own
chance of winning by saying anything. Her coach’s words played in her mind: “Good runners
never miss an advantage.”
The race began. Most runners did well, but no one ran faster than 12 seconds for the
100-meter dash. Sarah watched the others struggle, and it made her feel so uneasy.
Sarah still wondered if she should tell Alex the loose shoelace. She was so lost in thought
that she didn’t hear her name being called. When she finally heard it, she was startled (受惊吓的) .
She got into position. Her hands were shaking as she got ready. She took a deep breath and
focused. When the starting gun went off, she ran at high speed and finished in 11. 5 seconds.

Alex walked to the starting line and was ready. Sarah’s heart was beating badly, her throat
tight with the weight of what she knew. She knew that loose shoelaces would trip Alex mid-sprint,
sending her sprawling onto the track. Sarah couldn’t stand the idea that Alex would lose the game

your shoelace is loose!” Alex quickly lowered her head, tied her shoelaces and returned to her
original position.
Alex rushed off the track in an astonishing 11.3 seconds and ran straight towards Sarah with
thankfulness. Sarah knew she had lost the race, but seeing Alex running excitedly made her feel
very complicated. She was disappointed that she didn’t win, but she was also proud that she had
helped Alex do the right thing. The crowd cheered for Alex’s victory. Alex ran to Sarah, hugged
