广东省深圳市2026年中考英语专题训练:05阅读单选(5题)
My name is Leo, and the river behind our town used to be my playground. I remember when I was little, Grandpa would take me fishing. The water was so clear that we could see fish swimming happily. But over the years, things changed. Factories were built nearby, and more rubbish appeared. The water turned dark and smelled terrible. No one wanted to go near it anymore.
Last spring, our science teacher, Mr. Chen, started a project called “Bring Our River Back.” At first, I thought it was just another school task. But Mr. Chen said, “Real change starts with small actions.” We began by picking up rubbish along the riverbank every weekend. It was tiring work, and sometimes I felt like giving up.
Then something amazing happened. One day, we noticed a few small birds returning to the river. The next week, we saw a frog (青蛙)! These small signs gave us hope. We started to educate people in the community, explaining how harmful pollution is to animals and ourselves. We even wrote letters to the local factory, asking them to stop putting waste into the river.
Months later, the river didn’t become perfect, but it was getting better. The water was cleaner, and we could hear birds singing again. On the last day of the project, Grandpa came with me. He didn’t say much, but his smile said everything. I finally understood what Mr. Chen meant. Saving the earth isn’t about doing everything at once; it’s about everyone doing something.
That river taught me the most important lesson: we are not separated from nature. We should be friendly to it, and protecting it means protecting our own future.

On November 26, 2025, a bad fire started in Wang Fuk Court, Hong Kong. Strong winds and old scaffolding (脚手架) made the fire spread fast to seven nearby buildings. Some people were trapped (被困的) on the high floors, and the hot air made it hard for firefighters to save them. This fire tells us fire safety is very important. Here are some fire safety rules to keep you safe:
Before a Fire●Make escape plans: Know all the ways out of your home. Check windows to make sure they open easily. ●Prepare a fire bag: Put a flashlight and some water in a bag. Keep it easy to get.
During a Fire●Stay low to the floor: Smoke rises, so the best air is near the floor. ●Don’t open hot doors: The fire can get bigger if you open a hot door. ●Stop, Drop, Roll: If your clothes catch fire, stop running. Drop to the floor and roll over and over to put out the fire.
After a Fire●Don’t go back home at once: The building may still be dangerous. Wait for firefighters to say it’s safe. ●Check for dangers: Look for broken walls before you enter your home.
Fire safety is everyone’s job. By following these rules, we can keep safe from fires and protect ourselves.

Do you know about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) It’s an old way to keep people healthy in China, with a history of thousands of years. TCM doctors often check your tongue (舌头), give you herbs (草药), or use acupoints (穴位) to treat illnesses.
Now, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is helping TCM work better. AI is smart—it can learn and think like humans, and we can see it in computers and robots. Let’s see how AI helps with TCM herbs first. TCM doctors give people bags of different herbs. People need to boil the herbs in water to make a drink, but it’s hard to get the right temperature and time. A small mistake makes the medicine less useful.
But AI machines can solve this problem. They read doctors’ prescriptions and boil herbs in their own ways. They control the temperature perfectly, so the medicine is always good. This saves people a lot of time.
AI robots also help with moxibustion (艾灸), a special TCM treatment. Doctors use warmth from burning herbs near your skin to reach acupoints. Finding the right acupoints is very important. AI robots have smart eyes—they can find acupoints quickly. The robot’s arm is steady (稳定的) and never shakes, making the treatment safe.
AI is not here to replace TCM doctors. Doctors are still the most important. AI is just a “super assistant” that helps doctors work faster and better, making TCM treatments more efficient for everyone.

Many a conversation in France starts with a complaint (抱怨): The weather is bad; the grape harvest is even worse… When I first moved to France ten years ago, I was puzzled. I kept wondering why the French were always in such a bad mood.
One day, I asked a French friend. “We aren’t really complainers,” he said. “We are r leurs—people who complain just for fun.” Then I knew a complaint is a common starter in French conversations. One could begin talking about the poor restaurant service, even if the meal was mostly great. Such words invite other people to share their opinions. A French complaint is also “something that makes people seem like they’re thinking and not naive (幼稚的),” according to Julie Barlow, co-writer of The Bonjour Effect.
Many native English speakers may feel uncomfortable toward the French conversation starter. However, some experts believe that the French attitude may, in fact, be better for their health. According to a 2011 study from the University of Texas, holding back negative emotions can make people more likely to argue or fight. And a 2013 study in Biological Psychiatry found that efforts to regulate negative emotions could be harmful, which might increase the risk of heart diseases.
This isn’t to say that complaining is always plaining too often can get you caught in a situation, actually reshaping your brain to always pay attention to the negative. French r leurs may well avoid this unlucky side effect, because they seldom complain about their own lives but about outside problems.
On the whole, hardly ever do the French’s complaints aim to solve problems. Instead, complaining is just part of conversation, a way to build interpersonal connections.

B.It’s snowing awfully heavily.
C.Losing the job again upset me.
D.I had trouble falling asleep last night.

Recently, China’s Ministry of Education (中国教育部) has put forward ten key measures (举措) to further improve primary and middle school students’ mental health (心理健康). Among them, developing healthy Internet habits has attracted wide attention.
The measures come as students face more and more mental health challenges. With the fast development of the Internet, the 6th Survey on Internet Usage of Chinese Minors (第六次全国未成年人互联网使用情况调查) shows 97.3% of Chinese teenagers are Internet users while the 5th survey shows that 97.2% of China’s teenagers (including 95.1% of primary school students) are Internet users. Spending too much time online has caused problems like poor sleep, worse eyesight and lack of attention in study. What’s worse, bad online things—such as information that makes people feel worried, messages that encourage unhealthy competition or rude words—seriously harm their mental health.
To solve these problems, the measures set clear requirements. Schools must improve the management of students’ smart devices (智能设备) and strictly stop mobile phones and other electronic products from entering classrooms. Meanwhile, students and parents are encouraged to work together to carry out a “Screen-Off Campaign” to reduce too much dependence on the Internet.
Some departments will make online platforms (网络平台) do their management work well. They will improve algorithm recommendation systems (算法推荐系统) to keep harmful information away, stop bad online behaviors and continue developing the “Teenager Protection Mode” (青少年保护模式) to make the online environment cleaner.
These measures aim to guide students to use the Internet healthily through the work of schools, families and society together.
36.What is the main goal of the ten key measures
A.To help students use the Internet healthily.
B.To let students stop using electronic products.
C.To ask parents to control Internet platforms.

C.Prevent electronic products from classrooms.
40.How will online platforms protect teenagers
A.Improve systems to keep bad things away.
B.Push more unhealthy online information.
C.Stop using the Teenager Protection Mode.
Qingxu, Shanxi—November 2025. Wang Yong, a 42-year-old music teacher, died after being ill for a long time. More than 200 students got together in the cold winter wind. They held the musical instruments he had taught them to play. With tears in their eyes, they played well-known songs like Farewell《送别》 and Childhood to show their deep respect for him.
In many county schools, people usually care most about test scores, so music classes are often forgotten. But for 19 years, Wang Yong always believed that music is powerful. He refused higher-paying jobs in big cities and chose to stay at a local county school. He put all his time and energy into teaching kids music. When he started the school’s “Dian Dian Wind Band” in 2006, Wang only had old, broken instruments. He fixed them by himself. He used easy ways to help new learners, and practiced with students in his free time. Over the years, he taught more than 1,200 students. Many of them became more confident and found happiness through music. His “Dian Dian Wind Band” was named one of the best music groups in the area. Even when he was sick, he still led the band’s practice and never made his students feel disappointed.
Wang Yong’s story shows what real education is. It’s not just about getting good grades. It’s about helping students grow in love, interest and life goals. I am a member of the Young People’s Chorus (合唱团) (YPC) of New York City. The chorus is made up of children ages 8 to 18. I’ve been in the chorus for almost five years. Every year, we give a big performance to raise money for the organization. It’s the biggest concert of the year and is held at Lincoln Center. A lot of work goes into the final performance.
First, we begin learning our music. We usually start by learning the notes, and then we add the words. Someone comes in to teach us the meaning and pronunciation of the lyrics(歌词) if the words are not in English.
Next, we keep the whole song in mind, even if we only sing part of it. One of the hardest pieces we sang this year was Tjak. It has four parts, each with a different rhythm (节奏).
Once we add dynamics (力度变化) to our songs to give them life, it’s time to add choreography. Jacque Bird, the director, tells us to connect the words we sing to our movements as we breathe and count in our heads.
As we get closer to the concert night, the rehearsals (彩排) get harder. My knees and arms start to hurt. But once we get a break and some food, we come back feeling better. We rehearse on weekends for almost a month beforehand. Every moment is important and worth it.
The real excitement comes during the rehearsal, when we meet our guest artists. This year, YPC invited Mandy Gonzales, Alexandra Socha, and Time for Three to join us. After hearing that we would work with them, we jumped up and down.
Showtime! We sang with musical guests and performed wonderful dances. At the end of the night, we shouted with excitement. For all of us, pulling off the biggest performance of the year felt great.

47.What does the underlined word “choreography” in Paragraph 4 mean
A.Lyrics. B.Dances. C.Videos. D.Games.
48.What excites the writer most during the rehearsal
A.Working with the famous director.
B.Having some food during the break.
C.Coming face to face with guest artists.
D.Getting a rest after long hours of rehearsal.
