典例 (2025全国二卷)限时:25分钟
“What is your name?” is a question most frequently asked when people meet for the first time. But for me, it was the first challenge I encountered as an international student in Ireland.
The pronunciation system of the Chinese language is quite different from that of English. For native speakers of English, some Chinese words are rather difficult to pronounce. My given name Qiuyu(秋雨), for instance, happened to be a great challenge for many of them. Every time I gave a self-introduction, I had to explain how to pronounce my name at least five times, yet they still could not say it the way I did.
Once in a lecture, the professor tried repeating my name after me over and over in front of thirty classmates. I really did not know whether I should continue correcting him or simply drop the matter. I feared that my classmates might grow tired of my efforts or even lose patience with me. After all, I did care about how others would think of me. I realized that if I didn't stop, the entire lecture would be ruined. “It's okay, professor,” I shrugged(耸肩). The awkward moment ended with the class erupting into laughter. I forced a smile, unsure how to respond further.
After that incident, I stopped acting as a “Chinese teacher”. Instead of correcting others when they were struggling to pronounce my name, I just smiled and nodded approvingly. This approach spared me the discomfort of having to over-explain. However, I soon found that by doing so, I might be losing something more important: the opportunity to share a small part of my cultural identity.

I was born into a nuclear family. It was just parents and me. Over the years I've noticed how well my parents manage to look after their health and how healthy they are. I had never bothered to follow their example or been that curious about the secret of their good health. I never realized what a great resource they could be.
I would look at them both, so slim, strong and healthy—much more so than me—and think, how will I ever get to be like them I'm constantly impressed by their toughness. They have never taken any sick days from work, unless they really need to. They don't need to visit the doctor much. Their habits are deep-rooted and work for them.
Part of their success is how efficiently they control what they eat. Their diet is extremely healthy and they stick to it. For breakfast, it's porridge; lunch is salad or a wholemeal sandwich with butter, garlic, raw onion and black pepper. Dinner is boiled vegetables, or beans. Both of them grew up eating fresh, unprocessed food.
My dad is a bus driver, and my mum works part-time as a sales assistant. My dad started skipping at the age of six. He's now a mini celebrity and admired by people worldwide with thousands of followers on social media. And my mum has won fitness competitions at the gym.
In this respect, I was the complete opposite. I hated fitness and was lazy and unfit. Last week I had a health scare; I found a lump(肿块) on my neck. After an examination, it turned out to be fatty tissue, which isn't harmful but unless I lose weight, or I have surgery, it could get worse. My parents said to me: don't get surgery, let us train you and you'll feel much better. I wanted to take the easy option and have it removed. But I also thought, maybe this was an eye-opener and a wake-up call for me to start getting fit.

典例 (2024九省联考) 限时:25分钟
Last summer, Hilda worked as a volunteer with dolphin trainers at a sea life park. Her job was to make sure the tanks were free of any items so that the trainers could train the dolphins to fetch specific items. However, one day after cleaning, one of the dolphins, Maya, presented Hilda with a candy wrapper from the tank. When Katherine, the trainer, saw this, she blamed Hilda for her carelessness. Upset but not discouraged by this event, Hilda decided to do some spying on Maya.
The next morning, Hilda arrived at the park early. She put on her scuba gear(水下呼吸器) and jumped into the tank for her usual, underwater sweep. Finding nothing in the tank, she climbed out of the water just in time to see Katherine jumping in on the other side. After what happened yesterday, Hilda knew what she was doing. She watched as Katherine performed her underwater search, but Hilda wasn't surprised when she surfaced empty-handed.
During the tank sweeps, Maya had been swimming playfully, but now the dolphin stopped suddenly and swam to the back part of the tank where the filter(过滤) box was located. She stuck her nose down behind the box and then swam away. What was Maya doing back there Hilda wondered. She jumped back into the water and swam over to take a look behind the box, and her question was answered. Hilda then swam across the tank following Maya's path and emerged from the water to find Katherine removing her scuba gear. As Katherine turned around, her mouth dropped open. There was Maya at the edge of the tank with a comb(梳子) in her mouth waiting for her treat.
“Maya! Where did you get that?” demanded Katherine, taking the comb and throwing her a fish. “I know where she got it,” declared Hilda climbing out of the tank with a handful of items still wet from their watery, resting place. “What's all this?” Katherine asked, obviously confused.

In Los Angeles, California, there was an aquarium(水族馆) called “Ocean Wonders Aquarium”, located along the scenic coastline. The aquarium was home to a wide variety of ocean creatures, attracting countless visitors who were amazed at the colorful tropical(热带) fish, slow-moving seahorses, graceful jellyfish, and intelligent dolphins. However, the aquarium had to go through a major restoration, and as of December 1st last year, it closed its doors to the public. The construction was expected to last until the summer, with the entire project taking more than six months to complete.
Without visitors, the aquarium grew extremely quiet and felt like an empty space. The animals, who were used to human interaction every day, now saw very few human faces, only the familiar caretakers. Something strange began to happen. The dolphins, once energetic and lively, seemed tired, lacking the usual enthusiasm they had for play.
One morning, after the caretaker Amanda threw small fish into the dolphins' tank, the dolphins swam lazily to the tank walls and barely showed any interest in their favorite meals. They stared blankly into the distance, their usual excitement absent. “Something's not right,” Amanda whispered to herself.
Dr Harris was called in to investigate. He examined the dolphins and initially suspected digestive issues. “Perhaps we should reduce their food intake,” he suggested. “Give them smaller amounts of food and see if that helps with any potential digestive discomfort.”
But after a few days, there was no improvement. The dolphins continued to suffer, showing no interest in food or play. Disappointed and worried, John, a senior caretaker, gathered the team. “What should we do?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Then, one of the caretakers posed an idea: “Could it be that the dolphins are lonely without the visitors?”

My wife and I wanted to share our new home with family and friends by hosting a small gathering in the early summer. She had prepared lots of snacks, while my job was to have the backyard in order.
There was plenty of space for the kids to run and play. There was just one thing I hadn't counted on: my brother chose to bring his dog Toby, a 50-pound ball of fire. Though friendly, he could easily knock over my niece's small boys and my six-month-old granddaughter. So, when my brother showed up, I asked him to watch Toby and keep him outside.
My plan was working out just fine. Toby was using up his energy by running back and forth in the backyard and giving the kids plenty of room. Unexpectedly, after supper, the weather changed. It started to rain and everyone went indoors.
It was an awkward moment. I didn't want Toby to be running around in the house, and my brother wasn't happy with driving home with a wet dog. Eventually, my brother decided to leave rather than force the issue.
A few days passed, and I hadn't heard anything from my brother. I texted him and expressed wishes for him to come out again. His reply came as a surprise—a shock, actually: “Not a chance.” Clearly, he was unhappy over the way we had parted. After all, I had left him little choice. Well, he'll get over it, I reasoned.
Two months passed. My wife suggested I get in touch with my brother, but I resisted, thinking he should call first. However, my conscience(良心) kept bothering me. I tried to put myself in my brother's shoes. He was facing health issues, and his wife of thirty-five years had passed away a few months earlier. Toby was his constant companion, the one who kept him going.

Step 5 完成完整写作
I realized it was me who was at fault. Little did I consider how crucial Toby was to my brother. With the image of him leaving with Toby in the rain replaying in my mind, I felt a wave of regret surging through me. Then my wife came, holding homemade biscuits. She placed them in my hands, eyes brimming with warmth and encouragement. “Go talk to him and make it right,” she said, her voice like a gentle breeze. Moved by her thoughtfulness, so grateful was I that I held her hands tightly and nodded firmly. Determined to apologize, I headed towards my brother's house.
With the biscuits my wife had made, I arrived at my brother's door. Having taken a deep breath, I raised my hand and knocked. The moment my brother opened the door, he looked surprised. “I am so sorry. These are for you and Toby,” I said, holding up the biscuits with trembling hands. Toby bounded over, wagging his tail and nudging my hand with his nose. To my astonishment, after a silence, my brother took the biscuits. He then pulled me into a hug, smiling. At that moment, I vowed to care more about my family and to never let misunderstandings come between us.

Amanda and Susie, though sisters with a two-year age gap, had never got along. From the minute Susie was born, Amanda knew the baby disliked her.
As Susie grew, she hated Amanda for telling her how to do things. Amanda viewed Susie as spoilt, because she was the youngest in the family. At secondary school, Amanda shone at English; Susie was a maths whizz. Each made the other feel inadequate. When Amanda turned fifteen, Susie was angry when her sister was allowed to go to the youth club disco. Perhaps that was why Susie married so young—anything to beat her sister down the aisle. But Amanda got her revenge. When it was her turn, she chose a bridesmaid whose hair clashed with Susie's at her wedding.
Now, despite being in their fifties, these grievances(牢骚) were still fresh in the sisters' minds. The only thing they had in common was that they both loved their mother deeply.
Then one day, her father rang with the terrible news that their mother had died suddenly. Both sisters were stricken with grief, but Susie was also upset that their father hadn't informed her first.
Then their father told them about their mother's will. “She's left you the painting,” he said to them both. The painting—a portrait of the sisters by the mother—was the source of one of their biggest childhood arguments. To their surprise, it was bequeathed(遗赠) to both. “Your mom hopes that you each have it for six months and then swap, for the rest of your lives,” added the father.
“We live miles apart. We could get it delivered,” said Susie. “It's against the will,” their father replied. “‘I love to look at it, especially now you've both left home,’ your mom used to say. Now it felt like the last link to her.”
For the sake of their beloved mother, the two sisters began the cyclic keeping of the painting. This time it was Susie's turn to deliver the painting.

Amanda forced a weak smile, her eyes darting away in embarrassment. “I fell down the stairs yesterday,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. To Amanda's astonishment, Susie stroked Amanda's arm with tenderness, her touch light but reassuring. Remembering her task, Susie rose to her feet and brought the painting over. Forgetting the previous reluctance to deliver the painting, she placed it gently on the bedside.

“Susie, look!” she exclaimed, pointing at the words. Seeing their mother's familiar handwriting, guilt and sorrow washed over them. Susie hugged Amanda tightly, tension gone. At that moment, they realized the painting wasn't just a piece of art, but a reminder of their mother's love and unbreakable sisterly bond.
