An 80-year-old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45-year-old highly educated son.Suddenly a crow perched on the tree near their window.
The father asked his son,“What is this ” The son replied,“It is a crow.”
After a few minutes,the father asked his son the second time,“What is this ” The son said,“Father,I have just now told you.It’s a crow.”
After a little while,the old father again asked his son the third time,“What is this ”

At this time some expression of irritation(恼怒) was felt in the son’s tone when he said to his father unwillingly.“It’s a crow,a crow.” A little while after,the father again asked his son the fourth time,“What is this ”
This time,the son shouted at his father,“Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again,although I have told you so many times ‘IT IS A CROW’ Are you not able to understand this ”
Later the father went to his room and came back with an old tattered(破旧的) diary,which he had maintained since his son was born.On opening a page,the father asked his son to read that page.When the son read it,the following words were written in the diary:
“Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa,when a crow sat on the window.My son asked me 23 times what it was,and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a crow.I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question.I did not feel irritated at all but I rather felt affection for my innocent son.”

1.理解全文,把握主线。本文为记叙文,文中的主要人物是the son 和the father,围绕“能否耐心回答对方问的同一个问题”展开。
2.分析段首提示,展开想象进行合理推测。根据文章最后一段中日记的内容以及续写第一段的提示词After reading the diary可推测,该段应该写儿子被父亲的日记感动了,从而对自己的行为进行反思;根据续写第二段的提示词Feeling ashamed 可以推测,儿子对自己的行为感到羞愧,从而向父亲表示歉意并且表达对父亲爱的承诺。
3.逻辑推理,巧定结局。儿子对年迈的父亲总是问同一个问题不耐烦,于是父亲拿出了写关于儿子小时候的日记。儿子读了日记后感到羞愧,深刻反思了自己的行为,所以结局应该是儿子向父亲表达爱和感谢。
