Elephants are known for their cleverness and communication skills. A new study suggests they may have another amazing ability: They may give each other special “names” — an ability that no other nonhuman animals are known to have.
The lead researcher, Dr. Michael Pardo, said, “We all know that parrots try to copy each other's sounds to communicate. But our findings suggest elephants don't depend on imitation. They seem to use the way in which human names work.”
The research team included Dr. le. Many times, she noticed an elephant calling out, but only one replied. The rest of the group would continue feeding, seeming not to hear the call. This led her to wonder if the elephants called each other by their names.
For their study, the team chose over 600 recorded elephant calls. These calls were collected over almost 30 years from wild elephants.
Elephants' low-frequency (低频的) sounds are hard for humans to understand. The researchers turned to machine learning tools for help. The computer correctly guessed the receiving elephant's identity (身份) 28% of the time. While the number may seem low, the researchers say the elephants probably don't use names all the time.
To make sure of the findings, some of the sounds were played back to 17 wild elephants through a speaker. Sure enough, the elephants only replied to calls meant for them.
Next, the researchers will go on to find out whether elephants also “name” other important things, like food and water.
( )56. What can we learn about elephants from Paragraph 1
A. They're the smartest animals.
B. They're widely studied in different studies.
C. They're always noisy and make a lot of loud sounds.
D. They're probably the first nonhuman animals to use “names”.
( )57. What does the underlined word “imitation” in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Making sounds. B. Singing songs.
C. Copying sounds. D. Making movements.
( )58. Which of the following may the researchers agree with
A. Elephants hardly use names to call each other when eating food.
B. Only the elephant that was called can hear the sound.
C. People have difficulty understanding elephants' sounds.
D. Elephants use names in a way that is totally different from humans'.
( )59. How did the researchers prove their findings
A. By using machine learning tools.
B. By collecting more sounds in the wild.
C. By playing the sounds in different situations.
D. By replaying the recorded sounds to some wild elephants.
( )60. What's the purpose of the passage
A. To compare elephants' skills with other animals'.
B. To show a new study about elephants' amazing ability.

Do you use social media very often It wouldn't be a surprise. It's a common problem around the world. According to a recent survey, over 90% of US teenagers now have smartphones and one third of them use social media very often.
Social media is a way for teenagers to connect with their friends and the modern world. That can be the main reason why social media is popular among teenagers. However, the use of social media has both advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages
It can make connections. Some teenagers build real friendships with people they know through social media. It is a safe space where teens can speak freely and express themselves. When teens are facing problems, they can receive much support from social relationships.
Disadvantages
It can lead to bad performance at school. As teenagers spend more time on social media, they spend less time on their schoolwork. It's harmful to mental health. The more time teens spend on social media, the more likely they are to be depressed (抑郁的).
Then what does social media really mean Well, social media is not a “thing” you use to see what other people are doing. It's about how you use it to improve your relationships with other people in real life.
In fact, there is no wall between real life and Internet life. Social media is built to create meaningful experiences and relationships wherever you may be.

Hello, I'm Judy. When I was young, my mom always told me helping others makes the world better. At seven, I started a project called “Art for Kindness”. I collected colored pencils and notebooks and gave them to children in poor areas. Two years later, I started my business. I got the idea from the experience of helping my best friend, Emma. One day, seeing Emma was sad, I made a card with the encouraging words “You are amazing!” for her. Her smile made me realize how simple kindness can change someone's day and I want to be everyone's positive friend. Now, I create special schoolbags and notebooks. On them, you can see words like “Believe in yourself!” and “Never give up!” We use part of the money from the business to help people in need. We also have free art classes for poor kids. I hope there will be more people spreading kindness with us.

Dear Tom,
I'm glad to hear about your interest in social anxiety. It's such a common topic these days. Let me share some ideas with you.
Many students now avoid face to face conversations and feel nervous in real life social situations. One of the reasons is that they spend too much time online, which makes them lose confidence in offline communication. Another cause might be the fear of being judged by others, pushing them to hide behind screens.
To overcome social anxiety, first, encourage them to reduce screen time and talk more with family or friends. Second, joining in group activities like sports or clubs to help them practice social skills step by step. At last, if anxiety is still there, it is also a wise choice to ask teachers or people they trust for help.
Social anxiety can be managed with patience and effort. Hope these suggestions help!
Best wishes,
Li Hua
