On January 20, 2025, DeepSeek launched its R1 LLM, which quickly became popular, even surpassing Open AI’s ChatGPT in the Apple App Store. This large number of users created a big buzz in the tech world and even affected the stock prices of many AI companies.
One of the best features of DeepSeek is that it is open-source, which means it is free to use, and anyone can change its code. This makes it much cheaper—20 to 50 times less expensive—than Open AI’s GPT-3 model. Unlike other AIs that need many examples to learn, R1 can improve on its own. In a global math test, DeepSeek R1 scored 79.8%, which is slightly better than Open AI’s model. This is another advantage of DeepSeek.
DeepSeek is easy to use, even on basic computers. A simpler version of R1 can run on low-cost computers, making it helpful for schools and small businesses. Many schools in China now use DeepSeek to create quizzes and study materials. For students, DeepSeek is like a 24/7 study partner! Its AI models can solve math problems step-by-step, explain tricky science concepts, and check grammar mistakes in English essays. Imagine asking, “How do I calculate the area of a triangle ” and getting the answer at once with clear examples.
While it can be helpful, students might start to rely too much on it for answers, which could make it harder for them to think critically and solve problems on their own. This raises concerns about whether AI can help students truly understand and arouse their interests in learning.
At a recent forum on March 22nd, a professor shared a poem written by DeepSeek. He said, “The poem is well written. Technology can copy style and tone. But...you know, as the Chinese saying goes, ‘it is easy to draw a dragon, but rather difficult to put in the life-giving eyes.’”
In conclusion, as technology like DeepSeek benefits students a lot, it also presents challenges for teachers. Educators need to help students balance its use with regular study methods. Guide them to think carefully about the information that AI tools provide.
33.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about
A.How DeepSeek R1 performs in math test.
B.Why DeepSeek R1 is cheaper than GPT-3.
C.Why DeepSeek R1 is better than other AIs.
D.How DeepSeek R1 improves its performance.
34.Which best summarizes the role of DeepSeek for students

Needles, though important for giving medicines, are not popular among patients. When people see a needle, they often feel scared or uncomfortable. This makes getting an injection a bad experience. Now, scientists, led by Dr. Giovanni Traverso, found a new way to give medicine without pain—by copying how squids shoot ink and water.
Dr. Traverso’s tiny automated injectors (自动注射器) are put into capsules that patients can swallow. Once inside the stomach, the capsule breaks down and lets out tiny injectors. These devices push medicine through the stomach wall into deeper parts of the body. This way, people get medicine without needles, so they don’t see or feel them.
Although the technique is promising, it is not yet perfect. For an injector to work effectively, it must stand almost perfectly upright against the exact spot in the body. With skin injections, doctors or nurses can correct the angle by hand, but inside the stomach, this is much more difficult.
To solve this problem, Dr. Traverso turned to squids, which can shoot ink and water at great pressure in many directions. Inspired by this natural ability, he and his team worked with a medical company to develop great tiny spring-powered devices that shoot medicine quickly when they start working. Tests on stomachs from pigs and dogs showed that the devices can effectively give injections even at angles (角度) below 70°.
While tests on human have yet to begin, Dr. Traverso hopes the technology will soon help people with diabetes, a disease that requires the patients to get injections daily. A more convenient way to give medicine could make treatment easier and less stressful. This idea might also help with vaccines in the future. Similar devices could give vaccines without needles, helping more people get protected from diseases. If all goes well, fear of needles could become a thing of the past.
37.What can we learn about the new injectors from the first two paragraphs
A.They are made from squid.
B.They work inside the stomach.
C.They are popular among patients.
D.They break down inside the body.

39.What challenge does Dr. Traverso’s technique face
A.Finding safe places to give medicine.
B.Testing them on stomachs from animals.
C.Keeping the injector at the right angle.
D.Training doctors and nurses to use them.
40.What can we infer about the technology from the last paragraph
A.It works well in experiments with human.
B.It helps people stop being scared of needles.
C.It makes medical treatment cost less money.
D.It could offer more medical help in the future.

46.(f)rightened 47.(b)eat 48.(a)ttack 49.(t)ruth 50.(f)ur
短语beat one’s chest“拍打胸膛”,与“roar”、“show their teeth”并列,描述大猩猩的威胁性动作。
根据“gorillas are incredibly intelligent, gentle and social animals that stay together in small family groups.” “truth”作名词表示“真相,事实”,“The truth is...”

52. what a successful

53. have been stopped/banned selling
【详解】根据“Since the trade war started in 2018”可知,主句时态是现在完成时;stop/ban在此处可以表示“禁止”;sell“出售”,from是介词,后跟动名词作宾语。 故填have;been;stopped/banned;selling。
54. didn’t make until
故填didn’t;make;until。
55. how to improve
【详解】how to do sth.“如何做某事”,improve“提升”。故填how;to;improve。

The School Open Day
Last week, our school held an Open Day. A variety of activities were organized to showcase the school’s features. There was an exhibition of students’ artworks, where paintings and handicrafts were displayed, showing the creativity of students. Also, a science experiment show was carried out, which attracted many visitors.
As a volunteer, I was busy but fulfilled. I guided parents and guests around the campus, answering their questions patiently. When they showed great interest in our school, I felt proud. I also helped with the exhibition, introducing the artworks to the visitors.
