Money isn’t easy to get, but many students don’t think much about it. They might ask parents for new toys, nice clothes or expensive snacks without hesitation. What they may forget is: Where does the money come from It doesn’t grow on trees.
Most parents work hard for their money. Some get up early for work and come back late after a long day. Others do heavy or boring jobs just to make money to support the family. Every penny they make comes from their hard work.
If you waste money, you are not just throwing away paper but ignoring (忽视) your parents’ efforts. For example, buying an expensive pen but losing it soon, or ordering too much food and leaving a lot on the plate. These small acts of waste add up. When we waste, we are wasting our parents’ efforts.
Being thrifty (节约的) doesn’t mean being stingy (吝啬的). It means using money wisely. Think carefully before buying something, save for what you really need and cherish (珍爱) what you have. Let’s remember: every coin counts, and hard work should never be wasted.

Wealth and happiness are two things people usually talk about. Some think having more money means being happier, but that is not always true.
Money can bring comfort. With enough money, we can buy nice food, live in a beautiful house and get good medical care when ill. These things can make us happy for a while. For example, a family with enough money to go on a trip together will surely create happy memories during the journey.
However, money has its limits (限制). Many rich people still feel lonely or worried sometimes. They may have big houses but have no one to share them with, or they might constantly (持续地) worry about losing their wealth. On the other hand, people with little money can still be happy because they have loving families and true friends.
In fact, happiness comes from many things. Qualities like kindness, health and wisdom are often more important than wealth. We need some money to cover basic needs, but we shouldn’t think it’s the only key to happiness.
