(1)主语常是表示方式、目的、计划、梦想、责任等的词,如way, intention, purpose, aim, attempt, plan, duty, dream等。

(3)当主语有all, 或者主语被序数词、或the only, the last或形容词最高级修饰时,其后可接“系动词+不定式”作表语。

3.动词不定式作表语的用法
(1)表示主语的内容。
The purpose of education is to develop a fine personality in children.
教育的目的是培养儿童健康的人格。
(2)表示事态发展预期的结果、不幸的命运等。
You must speak out,if we are to remain friends.
如果我们还想继续做朋友的话,你就必须痛痛快快地把话都说出来。
(3)用于第一人称疑问句,表示征求意见。

(4)表示“同意、安排、命令、决定、劝告、意愿、禁止”等。

动词不定式作表语
Tip 1:主语是以 __________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________等表示意向、打算、计划的抽象名词为中心的名词词组时,或者以_____________________表示时,一般用动词不定式作表语说明主语的内容。

有时,根据表达的需要,在作表语的不定式前,还可添加疑问代词或疑问副词,包括 what, who, how, when, where 等。
例如:问题是如何开始。

Tip 2: 当不定式作表语时,句子的主语还可以是what引导的主语从句。
e.g. What I want to do now is (to) have a rest.
Tip 3:当主语包含定语从句且其先行词为代词_____或者主语被___________________或形容词________修饰时,其后可接“系动词+不定式”作句子的表语。

常用to do作表语的情况

5.不定式作表语,可以省略to的情况
当主语部分含有动词do的某种形式时, 作表语的不定式可以to省略。

2. 主语被序数词、最高级或the only, the last等修饰, 且其后的定语从句含有do的某种形式。
