Do you know what to do if oil catches fire
Stay calm. Don't panic.
Turn off the heat. Switch off the stove.
Cover the pot. Gently slide a metal lid or a baking sheet over the pot to cover it completely. This stops the air and will put out the fire.
Wait. Leave the lid on for a long time (maybe 30 minutes) until the pot is completely cool. Do not move the pot or look inside.
What you should NEVER do if oil catches fire
NEVER pour water on the fire.
NEVER move the burning pot. You might spill the oil and burn yourself or spread the fire.
NEVER use flour, sugar, or other powder to try to put it out. They can also catch fire or explode.
NEVER try to blow out the fire like a candle. You will make it bigger.
