Xiangyang No.1 Middle School held a “Green Life” campaign last month. The campaign aimed to encourage students to live a low-carbon and environmentally friendly life.
During the campaign, many activities were organized. On March 12th, the school organized a tree-planting activity. Students went to the hills near the school and planted over 500 trees. They worked hard together. Some dug holes, some put young trees into the holes, some filled the holes with soil and others watered the trees. Although they were tired, they felt very happy. They hoped that the trees would grow well and make the environment better.
On March 18th, a “Low-Carbon Life” lecture was given by a famous environmentalist. He told students about the importance of low-carbon life and how to live a low-carbon life. For example, saving water and electricity, using public transportation instead of private cars, reducing the use of plastic bags and so on. Students listened carefully and took notes. On March 25th, the school held a “Green Handicraft” competition. Students used waste materials to make handicrafts. Some made pencil boxes with waste paper, some made flower vases with plastic bottles, and others made toys with old cloth. The works were very creative. Teachers and students voted for the best works. The winners were awarded prizes. This activity not only helped students develop their creativity but also made them realize the importance of recycling waste materials.

①How do you deal with your baby teeth Different cultures follow their own special customs when a child’s baby teeth fall out.
②After a child loses his baby tooth in Greece, he makes a wish for a strong and healthy adult tooth while throwing his broken baby tooth onto the roof (屋顶). He tries to throw the tooth as straight as possible, hoping that a straight strong tooth will grow in its place. Children in China and Singapore also follow the same practice.
③But this isn’t the only way the fallen tooth is treated around the world. In parts of Africa, children throw lost upper (上面的) teeth on the roof and bury (埋) lost lower teeth in the ground. But in East Asia, it’s the opposite: lower teeth go on the roof and upper teeth are buried or hidden under the bed. In some mid-eastern countries such as Iraq and Egypt, kids are encouraged to throw their teeth up towards the sky.
④But do you know one of the most common ways to deal with it Kids give the tooth to a mouse to make the adult tooth as strong as the mouse’s. They usually make a wish or sing a song during the ceremony. This happens in many places like Mexico, Russia, and New Zealand.
⑤In fact, kids in Argentina leave their tooth in a glass for a magical mouse who will bring a treasure while they sleep. In France and Switzerland, there’s a La Petit Souris (little mouse) that takes the thrown-away baby teeth for money or candy. In South Africa, the tooth is left in a slipper for the “tooth mouse”, who leaves a gift behind. How interesting it is!
⑥This is not all. In some places, the tooth is often kept at home and in some others, it is just thrown away. In modern times, parents are also storing their children’s baby teeth to keep stem cells (干细胞) for some medical research later in life.
46.To draw readers’ attention, the writer started the passage by ________.
A.listing the facts. B.asking a question
C.giving an example D.showing a reason

A.Hide them under the bed. B.Throw them into the air.

A.Korea B.Africa C.France D.Russia
49.Kids in Mexico offer the fallen tooth to a mouse to ________.
A.have candy in return B.get a magical skill
C.feed the hungry mouse D.expect a strong tooth
50.What’s the correct structure of the passage

What are glaciers (冰川) You can imagine them as hard ice and snow moving slowly on land. The United Nations (UN) says there are about 200,000 glaciers in the world, covering 10 percent of the land. They hold 70 percent of Earth’s fresh water, just like our huge “ice libraries”—store fresh water, support animals and plants, and provide water for rivers. Without them, many places would be short of water, cities near coasts could be under water, and animals might lose their homes.
Sadly, glaciers are melting (融化) faster than ever because of climate (气候) change, pollution, rising temperatures and human activities. Glaciers are in great danger, so the UN has decided that 2025 is the year to protect glaciers.
China has taken important steps to protect glaciers. Chinese scientists have invented special blankets (毯子) which can stop glaciers from getting too hot from the sun. They cover a 500-square-meter area with blankets made of geotextiles (土工织物) at Dagu Glacier in Sichuan. And very thin, high-tech blankets are used on Glacier No.1 in Xinjiang. They also make snow to help glaciers stay cold and melt more slowly. In April and May, 2023, scientists did this in the Bailanghe Glacier. It’s very important to watch glaciers carefully. In Tianshan Mountains, scientists use modern technology to watch glaciers for 24 hours, and local villagers report changes in the glaciers every day on the phone. China also makes laws to stop pollution near glacier areas.
Protecting glaciers might seem like a huge task, but even small daily choices can help. Glaciers don’t have voices but we do. Every snowflake counts. Let’s speak up for them and start with simple actions right now!

阅读短文,用英文填空或回答问题 (请注意每小题的词数要求)
You might have noticed that some people are really good at keeping their balance. But they were not born with this ability. Instead, it took practice.
According to experts, good balance depends on information that the brain receives from several parts of the body. These include the inner ears, eyes, muscles (肌肉) and bones.
The inner ear is the key for balance. The movement of the fluid (液体) in it sends signals (信号) to the brain, helping us know our position and stay balanced. If this system fails, falls may happen.
Eyesight also plays a big role. Clear eyesight helps us judge distances and stay on the feet well. Eyesight problems can make balancing harder.
Muscles send signals to the brain about changes, like stepping on ice. The brain reacts (反应) quickly to prevent falls. Weak or slow muscles increase fall risks.
If one system fails, the other two can be trained to help. Balance can improve with practice, even if it’s difficult at first.
