We should all have at least one fire extinguisher in our house or school. However, it is not enough to simply keep one somewhere. The best way to be ready for a fire is to study this guide (指南) carefully and review it regularly (经常地).
Have a clear way out
Before using the fire extinguisher, make sure you have a clear way out. If you cannot put out the fire, you will need to find a safe way out.
Call the fire department
Even if you can control the fire, you should always have the fire department (部门) or the way. Once firefighters arrive, they can double-check if you have completely put out the fire.
Stand back
Face the fire and keep your back to the clear exit. You should stay between 1 and 2.5 meters away from the fire as you prepare to use the fire extinguisher.
Use the extinguisher

S-Squeeze: Squeeze the handle (把手) to set out the extinguishing chemicals.

Keep an eye on things
After the fire appears to be out, continue to watch the fire area to make sure it does not start burning again. If the fire does start up again, repeat the “PASS” process (步骤).
