My first visit to China was in 2022. It was a trip to Beijing to study Chinese. I was excited about all the chances to improve my language skills, walk on the Great Wall and, most of all, eat real Chinese food! I still remember my first hot pot.
When the hot pot is served, I realized I was lucky to have learned how to use chopsticks well. As I looked around, some of my classmates were having a hard time even picking up food from the hot pot.
There is no wrong way to eat hot pot. Some people would carefully place their favourite foods in the pot one after another. Others would impatiently pour dishes in the whole plate into the bubbling (冒着泡的) oil. You can learn a lot about other people from the way they eat hot pot.
Later, as I visited different parts of China, I learned that each part of the country has its own special hot pot ingredients (原料) and traditions. When I went back to the U. S., my family hosted a party. Instead of serving the usual party foods, I decided to prepare a hot pot meal for everyone. It allowed me to not only share the culture that I learned about, but also present others with a chance to experience China like I had. It’s amazing that a pot could bring so much to life!

The first dish we cooked was found in a cookbook. It wasn’t a successful experience, and my dad and I both tried to improve our cooking skills later. Sometimes, we would surf the Internet for good ideas.
Some years later, my dad had to go on business trips, so I learned to cook alone. One day, I decided to cook dinner for my mom. My mom was happy when she came home from work and saw the noodles that I cooked. After dinner, my mom told me that I had a talent for cooking. Actually, it was my mom’s words that encouraged me to become a good cook.

Today, I want to tell you about my favourite teacher in primary school, Mrs. Green.
I joined in Mrs. Green’s science club when I was in the fifth grade. There were only 10 students and the class was cool because we did fun activities outside the classroom instead of just sitting and listening all the time.
Mrs. Green was fantastic. She cared about us even after class. I remember once my sister, Lily, was in the hospital, so my mom couldn’t pick me up on time. Mrs. Green kindly offered to take me home.
I felt really lucky to have such a great teacher in primary school. Because of Mrs. Green, I wanted to be just like her. After working hard for a long time, I made my dream come true. Now, as a teacher, I treat my students the same way Mrs. Green treated us.

My school life
Happiness in life is to move forward and grow up. The past three years taught me that there is much to cherish in my school life.
One of the most influential things is that I mastered some learning skills, such as what to preview and review and how to use mind maps. During that time, I found my increasing interest in English, too. Moreover, I also kept training on our school football team. Because of it, I made many friends and became more active and independent. I also formed many good habits, including reading some classics, keeping a diary and not eating junk food.

Have you ever watched the film Dune (沙丘) On the desert planet Arrakis, people’s clothes can collect sweat (汗) and urinue (尿) and turn them into clean drinking water. This may sound like magic, but some water-stressed places in the world are recycling wastewater in similar way. Astronauts in space depend on recycled water, too.
But what about us “We don’t live in space or on a desert planet.” You might say. “Why would we need to turn our sweat and unique into drinking water ”
Well, we might not start by recycling wastewater for drinking, but we can recycle it for other uses. Let’s think about toilets, for example. Every day, plenty of clean fresh water is used to move away human waste. This doesn’t seem like the wisest use, does it
I recently visited Jennifer Au, a new neighborhood in Hamburg, Germany, with a wastewater reuse project. This new system supermarkets wastewater into three parts to reuse locals. Rainwater is collected to water the garden. “Gary water” from kittens and bathrooms is used to clean toilets. And “black water” from toilets is sent to a local treatment plant to produce electricity. The system reduces water use by 30 percent and produces electricity for hundreds of homes.
Perhaps all new neighbors around the world could follow Jennifer Au’s example. If we use water wisely, more and more water will be saved

“It was great fun to guess the price of products,” 12-year-old Audrey Brown said. The idea of the game came from The Price Is Right, a TV show. “Whenever a student guessed right, all their friends would cheer,” Audrey said.
The game was an interesting way to learn about a serious subject: hygiene poverty (卫生贫困). That’s when people can’t afford the products they need for health and cleanliness. Audrey and her classmates wanted to help people in this situation. They started a hygiene product drive at school. Their goal was to collect and donate 10 bags of products to the Medina Personal Care Pantry. In the end, they donated 17 bags. Each bag had about $45 worth of personal care and cleaning products. “I’m really proud of how much we’ve learned as a class,” Audrey said.

There are so many things to look at in the world. Trees, birds, people, cars…and the list can go on and on. But do you know there are things that we can’t see It’s true! These things are all around us, but they are so minuscule that we can’t see them without magnification.
When we say “magnification”, we mean making something look bigger without changing its size. Magnifying (放大) tools like microscopes (显微镜) and magnifying glasses make things appear larger when we look at them. This way, we can see things more easily.
Scientists say that our eyes can see things as small as 0.1 millimetres (毫米). To give you an idea, the smallest things we can usually see with our eyes are things like human hair. With powerful microscopes, however, we can see small things that are impossible to see with just our eyes.
Now, there’s a new invention called the “microsphere nanoscope”. It helps us see things up to 20 times smaller than before! Scientists think this tool could let them even study live viruses in a whole new way. _______

82.例文
Last week, our school carried out Earthquake SafetyMonth activities. The purpose of the activity was to teach us how to stay safe during an earthquake.
We learned the right way to protect ourselves. First, when an earthquake happens, we should quickly get under a strong desk. This will help protect us from falling objects. Second, we must cover our heads with our hands or a book to avoid getting hurt. Third, we should stay under the table until the shaking stops. It is important not to run outside during the earthquake.
This activity was very useful. I now understand how to stay calm and safe in an earthquake. I feel more confident and prepared to handle emergencies. It is important to know these safety tips because they can save lives.
