推断深层含义:作者观点、写作意图、言外之意(如:What is the author’s attitude toward… )。
进行逻辑建构:推断事件原因、结果或发展脉络(如:What led to the change )。
实施评价创新:要求对信息或观点进行批判性评价(如:Which column would the text best fit in )。
设问更开放:或出现有限度的开放性设问(如:Which solution do you find more convincing Why ),答案需基于文本自洽推导,考查逻辑表达能力。
Where is this text most likely from
A. A science magazine.
B. A history textbook.
C. A travel brochure.
D. A personal diary.

Urban beekeeping has become a rising trend in cities across Europe over the past decade. As green spaces shrink and wild bee populations decline, more and more city dwellers are taking up beekeeping to help support local ecosystems. Unlike rural beehives, which are often placed in open fields, urban hives can be found on rooftops, balconies, and even in community gardens.
A study by the European Bee Research Association tracked 500 urban beehives in 10 major European cities from 2020 to 2024. The results showed that urban bees produce an average of 15 kilograms of honey per hive each year, slightly less than their rural counterparts. However, urban bees are more resistant to certain pests and diseases, possibly because city environments expose them to a wider variety of flowering plants throughout the year.
Many businesses have also joined the movement. Cafés in Berlin and Paris now host beehives on their rooftops, using the honey to make drinks and desserts for customers. A spokesperson for a Berlin café said, “Our rooftop beehives are not just a marketing tool. They are a way to connect our customers to nature and show them how even small actions can make a difference.”
Local governments have supported the trend too. Some cities offer free beekeeping workshops and subsidize the cost of beehives for residents. However, experts warn that urban beekeeping requires proper training. “Novice beekeepers may accidentally harm the bees or themselves if they don’t know how to handle the hives correctly,” said Dr. Elena Marquez, a bee conservationist. “It’s not just about putting a hive on a rooftop—it’s about understanding the bees’ needs.”
It can be inferred from the passage that ______.
A. urban bees produce more honey than rural bees every year
B. urban beekeeping is only a way to attract more customers for businesses
C. urban environments provide diverse food sources for bees
D. local governments will stop subsidizing beehives due to safety concerns

Silent libraries have been popping up in cities across China since 2023, offering a quiet escape from the noise of urban life. Unlike traditional libraries, silent libraries have strict rules: no talking, no phone calls, and no rustling of book pages that can disturb others. Visitors must wear noise-canceling headphones if they need to listen to audio materials, and even turning pages should be done slowly and gently.
The first silent library opened in Chengdu in early 2023, and it quickly gained popularity among students and office workers. A college student named Li Mei said, “I come here every weekend to study for my postgraduate entrance exams. The silence here is so precious—I can focus better than I do at home or in the school library.”
Silent libraries also differ from traditional ones in their design. Most of them have soundproof reading booths, soft lighting, and ergonomic chairs to create a comfortable and distraction-free environment. Some libraries even provide free tea and snacks to keep visitors energized, but they are served in packaging that makes no noise when opened.
However, the concept has also sparked some debate. Critics argue that libraries should be places for communication and discussion, and the strict silence rules go against the spirit of sharing knowledge. A librarian in Guangzhou said, “While we understand the need for quiet spaces, we should also preserve areas where people can talk and exchange ideas.” In response, many silent libraries have set up small “talking zones” outside the main reading area to balance silence and communication.
We can infer from the passage that silent libraries ______.
A. have completely replaced traditional libraries in China
B. have solved all the problems of noise in urban public spaces
C. are designed to meet the demand for distraction-free study environments
D. ban all forms of communication among visitors without exception

选项 C:原文提到学生李梅的评价 “The silence here is so precious—I can focus better than I do at home or in the school library”,且图书馆设计了隔音阅读间、柔和灯光等,由此可推断静音图书馆的设计初衷是满足人们对无干扰学习环境的需求,该选项符合文意,当选。

A wheeled robot rolls across the floor. A soft-bodied robotic star bends its five legs, moving awkwardly. Powered by conventional electricity via plug or battery, these simple robotic creations would be unremarkable, but what sets these two robots apart is that they are controlled by a living entity (实体): a king oyster mushroom.
By growing the mushroom’s mycelium (菌丝体) into the robot’s hardware, a team led by Cornell University researchers has engineered two types of robots that sense and respond to the environment by using electrical signals made by the mushroom and its sensitivity to light.
The robots are the latest accomplishment of scientists in a field known as biohybrid robotics who seek to combine biological, living materials such as plant and animal cells or insects with artificial components to make partly living and partly engineered entities.
There’s still a long way to go before biohybrid robots go beyond the lab, but researchers hope one day robot jellyfish may explore oceans, sperm-powered robots may be able to deliver fertility (生育) treatments and cyborg cockroaches could search for survivors in the wake of an earthquake.
“Biohybridization is an attempt to find components in the biological world that we can use, understand, and control to help our artificial systems work better,” said Shepherd, a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Cornell University.
The team began by growing king oyster mushrooms in the lab from a simple kit ordered online. The researchers chose this species of mushroom because it grows easily and quickly. They cultivated the mushroom’s mycelium, which can form networks that, according to the study, can sense, communicate and transport nutrients.
The team found it challenging to engineer a system that could detect and use the small electrical signals from the mycelia to command the robot. “You have to make sure that your electrode (电极) touches in the right position because the mycelia are very thin,” said lead author Anand Mishra. “Then you culture them, and when the mycelia start growing, they wrap around the electrode.”
1.What is special about the two robots in the first paragraph
A.They can control living creatures.
B.They can make various movements.
C.They are powered by king oyster mushrooms.
D.They are partly mushroom and partly machine.
2.What does the author want to show by giving the examples in paragraph 4
A.The future possibilities of biohybrid robots.
B.The seriousness of the environmental issues.
C.The limitations of biohybrid robots beyond the lab.
D.The advantages of biohybrid robots over conventional ones.
3.What did the team find difficult when engineering the robots
A.Wrapping the electrode with the mycelia.
B.Arranging the electrode in the right order.
C.Developing a system to cultivate the mycelia.
D.Placing the electrode accurately on the mycelia.
4.Why do researchers develop biohybrid robots
A.To replace artificial systems entirely.
B.To create fully self-replicating organisms.
C.To reduce environmental impacts of robots.
D.To integrate biological advantages into machines.
【答案】 2.A 4.D

A few weeks ago, I called an Uber to take me to the Boston airport for a flight home for the holidays. As I slid into the back seat of the car, the warm intonations (语调) of the driver’s accent washed over me in a familiar way.
I learned that he was a recent West African immigrant with a few young children, working hard to provide for his family. I could relate: I am the daughter of two Ethiopian immigrants who made their share of sacrifices to ensure my success. I told him I was on a college break and headed home to visit my parents. That’s how he found out I go to Harvard. An approving eye glinted at me in the rearview window (后视镜), and quickly, we crossed the boundaries of rider and driver. I became his daughter, all grown up — the product of his sacrifice.
And then came the fateful question: “What do you study ” I answered “history and literature” and the pride in his voice faded, as I knew it might. I didn’t even get to add “and African-American studies” before he cut in, his voice thick with disappointment, “All that work to get into Harvard, and you study history ”
Here I was, his daughter, squandering the biggest opportunity of her life. He went on to deliver the age-old lecture that all immigrant kids know. We are to become doctors (or lawyers, if our parents are being generous) — to make money and send money back home. The unspoken demand, made across generations which my Uber driver laid out plainly, is simple: Fulfill your role in the narrative of upward mobility so your children can do the same.
I used to feel anxious and backed into a corner by the questioning, but now as a junior in college, I’m grateful for their support more than anything. This holiday season, I’ve promised myself I won’t huff and get annoyed at their inquiries. I won’t defensively respond with “but I plan to go to law school” when I get unrequested advice. I’ll just smile and nod, and enjoy the warmth of the occasion.
5.What disappointed the driver
A.The sacrifice of the author’s parents.
B.The author’s choice of major at college.
C.The author’s casual attitude towards study.
D.The author’s poor academic performance at Harvard.
6.Which word can replace the underlined word “squandering” in Paragraph 4
A.Wasting. B.Replacing. C.Valuing. D.Expecting.
7.Why are immigrant kids expected to become doctors or lawyers according to the passage
A.To gain higher social respect and recognition.
B.To fulfill the unachieved dreams of their parents.
C.To secure financial success and family advancement.
D.To gain easier access to top universities like Harvard.
8.What is the author’s attitude towards the driver’s questioning
A.Critical. B.Tolerant. C.Doubtful. D.Supportive.
【答案】 8.B

In the six years since I published Maid, almost every person who’s interviewed me has asked me the same question: Do I, a person who became kind of famous for writing about cleaning people’s houses, have a house cleaner myself
The simple answer was no. But it was not because my house was spotless. Far from it. When I worked as a house cleaner, I made a reasonable $20 an hour. My clients were pleasant. Nevertheless, a power imbalance weighed on me whenever I had to get on my hands and knees to clean the floors and toilets. To hire a house cleaner myself would mean not only putting someone in that position, where they, too, might feel worthless, but also becoming someone I used to hate.
I had been resisting hiring someone to help until four years later, when my neighbor persuaded me to call a friend of hers who owned a cleaning company. The more I talked to the owner, the better I felt like hiring cleaners to help us. The company prioritized its employees’ well-being by paying them a fair living wage, and if a client canceled, instead of ignoring it, the company would manage to offer them the same number of hours on another job to make up for it.
Last fall, my husband went abroad for four months, and my whole life was in a mess. Between work and caring for the kids and house on my own, there wasn’t much left for me. But one day I walked into my bedroom and saw the neat bed and tidy items the cleaners had arranged. It made me smile, then brought tears to my eyes. It was the first time in weeks that someone had made a lot of effort to take care of me. It’s only now that I’m a client myself that I can see the value of the work I did at my former job.
All these years later, aware of the great respect and gratitude I have for the hardworking people who clean my house, I am able to better appreciate the person I was back then and be proud of the work she did to take care of others.
9.Why did the author initially refuse to hire a house cleaner
A.She couldn’t afford it.
B.She hated the inequality.
C.She owned a spotless house.
D.She preferred cleaning by herself.
10.What did the author think of the cleaning company
A.Inflexible. B.Principled. C.Considerate. D.Demanding.
11.What did the author realize after becoming a cleaning client
A.Cleaners were occupied. B.Cleaning was meaningless.
C.Cleaners deserved higher pay. D.Cleaning brought great comfort.
12.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A.To describe a job. B.To introduce a book.
C.To illustrate a lesson. D.To recommend a company.
根据第二段“Nevertheless, a power imbalance weighed on me whenever I had to get on my hands and knees to clean the floors and toilets. To hire a house cleaner myself would mean not only putting someone in that position, where they, too, might feel worthless, but also becoming someone I used to hate. (然而,每当我不得不跪下来清洁地板和厕所时,一种权力上的不平衡感总是让我感到沉重。自己雇清洁工不仅意味着把别人置于那种可能会感到自己毫无价值的境地,也意味着我变成了自己曾经讨厌的那种人)”可推知,作者最初拒绝雇清洁工是因为厌恶这种不平等的关系。故选B项。
11.推理判断题。根据第四段“But one day I walked into my bedroom and saw the neat bed and tidy items the cleaners had arranged. It made me smile, then brought tears to my eyes. It was the first time in weeks that someone had made a lot of effort to take care of me.(但有一天,我走进卧室,看到清洁工整理的整洁床铺和有序物品,这让我露出笑容,随后热泪盈眶。这是几周来第一次有人花这么多心思照顾我)”可推知,作者成为客户后意识到清洁工作能带来极大的慰藉。故选D项。
12.推理判断题。根据第二段“To hire a house cleaner myself would mean not only putting someone in that position, where they, too, might feel worthless, but also becoming someone I used to hate.(我自己雇保洁员,不仅意味着把别人置于那样的境地——他们或许也会在其中感到毫无价值,还意味着我变成了自己曾经厌恶的那种人)”以及上下文可知,作者从曾经拒绝雇清洁工,到后来改变想法并体会到清洁工作的价值,最终懂得尊重这份职业和劳动者,也正视了自己过去的经历。

For thousands of years, there’s been a common belief in Western culture about emotions that they come on fast and uncontrollable. But a new study that has looked at what’s going on inside the brain and the body during specific emotional states has found that the theory doesn’t hold up.
For example, you’re walking in the woods, and you see a bear. You recognize it’s a bear. Then what happens
Previously, researchers thought that the fear touches off a series of physical and emotional responses so that your heart rate rises, your breath quickens and the adrenaline (肾上腺素)levels increase in your body and you are well-prepared to run away and live another day.
But the new study has drawn a totally different conclusion: The brain recognizes a bear, and then that recognition leads to all the physiological responses. In other words, to make the decision, your brain takes into account your past experiences and your memories. This step is key. For instance, if your past experiences with bears come largely through news reports of attacks, then your brain will likely interpret your physiological responses as fear. This emotion will help drive you away from the bear in order to live another day.
But what if you are a hunter And your past experience with a bear ended in a wonderful feast for you and your neighbors. Then your brain may interpret the physiological responses as excitement. This positive emotion will drive you toward the bear in order to bring home dinner.
The study concludes that the chosen emotion not only helps the brain make sense of these signals, but it also helps the brain predict better the immediate future and how to handle the situation at hand.
Understanding how these predictions work helps us realize that emotions aren’t uncontrollable reactions to particular situations. Next week, we’ll see how to control our emotions in different situations.
13.According to the common belief in Western culture, what is our first reaction to a bear
A.We will feel frightened. B.Our heart will beat very slowly.
C.We will control our breath. D.Less adrenaline will be produced.
14.What will help us put our emotions under control according to the new study
A.Our personality. B.Our daily needs.
C.Our experiences. D.Our nerve system.
15.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A.To prove a theory right. B.To introduce a new discovery.
C.To provide some advice. D.To call for wildlife protection.
16.Where is the text most probably taken from
A.A news report. B.A textbook. C.A test result. D.A lecture.

题目
We can infer from the passage that silent libraries ______.
A. have completely replaced traditional libraries in China
B. have solved all the problems of noise in urban public spaces
C. are designed to meet the demand for distraction-free study environments
D. ban all forms of communication among visitors without exception
