During my middle school days, there was a very special experience that would always stay in my mind. It was a cool Saturday in June. Our class had a picnic in the hill near our city.
That morning, we all woke up early, full of excitement. We met up at the school gate quickly, and each of us carried backpacks filled with delicious food and drinks. We then took a bus to the hill, laughing and joking all the way. The one hour’s ride was filled with so much joy and happiness.
When we arrived at the hill, we found a perfect place under some tall trees. We quickly laid out a big blanket on the soft grass and started to set up our tents. Some students took out fruit and snacks, while others prepared fun games. We played cards, told jokes and sang songs together. The delicious food made our picnic more wonderful. We shared sandwiches, fruit salad and lemonade, enjoying the cool wind. After the picnic, we carefully cleaned up the area, making sure not to leave any rubbish behind.
This memory is very valuable to me. It shows these moments can become unforgettable when we are with our friends. I believe this memory will be kept in my heart forever, because it will always remind me of the joy and happiness of my middle school years.

Summer is coming quickly. It’s the time of the year in which people like to change their clothes for the new season. But how about adding something high—tech to the summer look Let’s check out some of the ways in which technology is changing the clothes people wear.
A Chinese research team has developed 3D printing techniques that can create clothes with the ability to change temperatures. The technology they used is those materials that change with the environment. The team placed an object in the clothing that could be transformed (转换). It also absorbs (吸收) or gives off heat depending on the wearer’s body temperature. Zhang Yongyi, a Chinese Academy of Sciences researcher, said it was the first time such clothing had been made using a controllable 3D printing method.
Scientists in South Korea have developed a kind of wearable clothes that create electricity as wearers keep moving. Of course, it doesn’t take much time or effort for people. Wearers only need to move naturally to power small electronic objects. The inside of the clothes produces energy, which is then stored. Although the clothes have an electronic object built in, they feel completely normal. Kim Sang—Woo, a professor at the Sungkyunkwan University, is proud of his team’s development, saying, “It feels like a normal jacket.”
In another amazing study, clothes could serve as devices themselves. A team of engineering students from the University of Washington, the US, have led these efforts by putting a special thing into cotton T—shirts. The clothing can then send the message that can be received by cellphones.

Weekends are a great time for middle school students to try something new, like knitting. It’s a fun, quiet hobby that lets you make cool things with your hands. 36 —just some yarn (毛线团) and knitting needles (针). It’s relaxing, and you can do it while listening to music or watching TV.
First, find a simple project, like a scarf (围巾). Scarves are easy because you just knit straight lines. Go to a craft store with a parent or friend and pick soft yarn in a color you love. Get needles that feel good in your hands—size 8 or 10 is perfect for beginners. 37
Next, learn the basics. Watch a short video online—like on Douyin—to see how to start. You’ll learn two moves: the knit stitch and the purl stitch (反针). 38 Practice a little each day, maybe 20 minutes. At first, it might feel hard, but soon it gets easier.
39 Sit in a comfortable place, maybe with a snack nearby. Wrap the yarn over the needle and pull it through—over and over. It’s slow at first, but you’ll see it grow. Mistakes happen, but that’s okay. You can fix them or keep going—nobody will notice!
Finally, enjoy your time knitting. It’s your weekend, so have fun. When you finish your scarf, wear it or give it to someone. 40 Knitting is a small hobby, but it brings big smiles!
A.Then, start your scarf.
B.You don’t need much to start.
C.You’ll feel proud of what you made.

Make Good Use of Break Time
In China, most schools have a 10-minute break between classes. Recently, many cities have increased the class breaks to 15 minutes.
The benefits of this extended break are numerous. It allows students to fully relax and recharge their batteries, which is crucial for maintaining focus and productivity during subsequent classes. Moreover, the additional time fosters social interactions, helping to build stronger bonds among classmates.
To make the best use of these 15 minutes, I suggest engaging in light physical activities like stretching or a quick walk around the campus. By doing so, we can truly harness the potential of this extended break for our overall well-being.
