课上学习任务
【学习任务一】 Revision: Respond actively to the teacher’s questions when reviewing the six core attractions from the previous lesson. Use the sentence pattern “Have you been to... ” to share your travel experiences related to these attractions. Pre-reading: Answer the teacher’s questions: “Which ancient capital cities in China do you know ” and “What do you know about Nanjing and Luoyang ” Predict the text content by discussing: “Where are the two articles from ” and “What are the two articles about ” Observe the pictures in the text and describe what you see, like the city wall, sea of clouds and mountain peaks. 【学习任务二】 While-reading: Scanning: Read the two articles quickly and complete the information about Nanjing and Luoyang. Detailed reading: Read the articles carefully again and answer the following questions: ① What is special about the city wall in Nanjing ② Why is Nanjing a centre of knowledge and learning ③ What can you see at the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang ④ Why is Luoyang a good place for nature lovers ⑤ What makes Luoyang similar to Nanjing (Give at least one point.) 4. Further thinking: (1) Discuss with your partner: “What can we learn about the two cities from the articles ” (2) Analyze the language features of the text. 5. Post-reading: (1) Choose either Nanjing or Luoyang and introduce it orally according to the given mind map. ① Which city would you like to visit, Nanjing or Luoyang Why ② Is your city similar to or different from Nanjing or Luoyang In what way(s) ③ What are the key things that make a city worth visiting Share your opinions with group members. (2) Finish part C on page 25 independently, filling in the blanks with the correct words. 【学习任务三】 1. Must-do: Introduce Nanjing and Luoyang in English, using the language and structure learned in class. Write down your introduction (about 100 words) and read it aloud. 2. Optional: Make a poster about your city, including its location, key attractions, food and people. Use both pictures and English descriptions. 3. Review the core vocabulary, phrases and key information of the two cities, and prepare for the next lesson’s check.
