Unit 5 Let’s celebrate! Task
Aims:
To learn to organize information by using a writing plan and construct it into a text
To learn to revise, redraft and improve their writing
To learn more about our Chinese traditional festivals and culture
Materials:a multimedia projector ; dictionary
Pre-writing:
Step1: Warm up:
Revise different festivals we learned in the unit, especially pay attention to the date and activities.
Tell students we can also make a writing plan to help us organize our ideas to write an article except making notes. Take “Halloween” for example. Ask students to review Reading, try to make a writing plan.
Introduce another Chinese festival --- the Spring Festival.
According to Part A, ask Ss to finish Part B. And then check their answers.
Ask Ss to pay more attention to four aspects if they want to write a better article:
Contents; 2) Expressions and structure; 3) Handwriting; 4) Checking
Ask Ss to list more activities that we can do at the Spring Festival
Ask Ss try to use different expressions to write this article. Analyze the structure of this composition: and encourage Ss to pay attention to the advs and conjs.

1. Work in groups. Discuss and choose one favourite Chinese traditional festival first . Then make a writing plan on the worksheet, the group leader organizes everything.

2. Writing an article:
Write an article about your favourite festival in a group.
Each two students write a paragraph of the article. The group leader puts them together.
3. After writing, ask each group to check their article by themselves first and then change with another group to have a check and give each group a mark according to the assessment table. Invite the leader to read out their article and have a look at their article. (eg. Where do they make a mistake? How does another group correct it?...)

1. Ask Ss to make their own writing plan about their favourite festival.
2. Ask Ss to write an article by themselves.
