本单元的写作任务是写一本小册子, 属于应用文, 其写作要点如下:
(1)抓住该事物的特征。对事物特征客观地说明、描述, 使读者在短时间内获得足够的信息。
(2)遵循一定的逻辑顺序。此类文章通常以空间顺序为主, 时间顺序为辅。因此, 在介绍事件, 如一场地震灾害时, 需要详细介绍地震发生的地点及危害度等, 以便人们及时掌握灾害的情况, 采取必要的补救措施。

  The race to the South Pole was between Captain Scott and the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen. Captain Scott left London to begin his journey to Antarctica on 1 June, 1910. On his way to Antarctica, he received a message from Amundsen 1. which/that said he was going south, too. Then the race began.
