Homework
1. Read key sentences
I tried out for the basketball team, but the coach said I wasn’t tall enough.
Back then, I was so disappointed at being too short and failing to get on the basketball team.
It’s great to look back and see my pains and gains with fresh eyes.
I know clearly that failure lasts just a moment. When one door closes, another opens.

Possible answers:
He won’t feel extremely bad. Because he has learned that failure is a part of life and lasts just a moment—he knows new opportunities will come, so he can face the swimming competition failure bravely.

4 Now I understand that failure is a part of life. It may fall upon us at any stage in our lives. I have experienced many other terrible moments since then. But I have never felt so bad again. I know clearly that failure lasts just a moment. When one door closes, another opens. Life is waiting for us with many other surprises.
5 Tomorrow is another day.
Q2:What’s the meaning of “When one door closes, another opens.”
It means that if one chance or dream ends (like the writer’s basketball dream), a new and often better one will come. Don’t give up hope when you face failure.
